restaurant is well named...everything is average...it is good casual dining..wait staff hurried ...but I still recommend it for a quick meal if you are in the neighborhood or as an alternative if you are going to an event at Strathmore...very easy to get there from here and better than some ot the others in the area...
i would say it is a more casual clyde's with comparable menus.....a good alternative when looking for a typical american fare restaurant ...not too expensive....good portion size....i had haddock which was fine...my grandson had chicken parm which looked typical...but a very generous portion....thought the staff was very friendly but appeared to be rushed.....little more training needed here...same with the front desk....friendly ...courteous....
Good variety of food selections. Not a vegetarian, but had a vegetarian dish, and it was delicious. Service was solid. Nice casual atmosphere. If I lived closer, it would be one of my go to choices. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.
Our server was not very attentive.
Love NYAJ -- comfortable - delicious food - menu variety
Our waitress Bridget was the best server we’ve had here, ever. And we’ve always had good service. She was attentive, helpful and our glasses were never empty.
The food is consistently good, but there was a shortage of wait staff on a Friday night! Our server did the best he could, but he was handling a number of tables and we had to wait longer than usual for silverware, drinks, food. Not quite sure why the restaurant was shorthanded on a Friday night!
Quality & presentation of Tuesday cheese burger special was xtremely disappointing. One is better off ordering a burger from the regular menu prepared to your liking and choosing any beer of your choice.
We went for brunch with a group of 12 that included kids and adults - the service was terrific and everyone found something they enjoyed at a good price. Lots of reasons to go back!
Food and service were quite good as usual. Easy dining knowing everything is consistent.
food was good; environment was frenetic and loud. Not the most relaxing place.
We come here when we visit family. The food is very good and the service is even better. Great for families. Highly recommend.
Outstanding service, food, and location. We eat here about once a month and have always had a great experience. Easter brunch was no different. Thank you!
Easter Sunday brunch was great - the eggs benedict was great and being early It was very quiet !
We have eaten often at NYAJoes and have always enjoyed it. This time we shared the ahi wonton appetizer which is really outstanding. My husband had the chicken Parmesan which is a very generous portion. I had spaghetti squash bolognese and it was delicious. Unfortunately there are very few vegetarian dishes and no vegan courses.
I have been there several times and I shall most likely return. One problem this place has (Bethesda): The coordination relative to the serving of courses needs to be improved. On two occasions the person bringing the entre was, literally, three steps behind the person SERVING the appetizer.
Loved our waiter! Made the whole experience at least a star higher!
Despite the name, this restaurant really is just average. I had specifically reserved a "regular" table, but we were at first seated in a booth with higher than normal seats and a bar for your feet, which was positioned in the wrong place for my husband's comfort. Fortunately they were not too busy and were able to reseat us elsewhere. The noise level was a little high, but it got better after a couple of large groups left; I suspect that it's too noisy for comfortable conversation on really busy days. The food was okay. The roasted vegetables (brussels sprouts for me, carrots for my husband) were underdone, with the largest pieces being too firm to eat.
Brunch menu has 2 items. That’s not brunch. Brunch food was mediocre. Lunch items were better.
Definitely Gluten-free friendly. Including GF bread at table before dinner and a full GF menu. American fare. Customer service outstanding.
We were disappointed this visit. Food was not the usual standard.
Good food great cocktails good service
Horrible service and food. Will not go there again
We always like Not Your Average Joes. The good and service are great!
We enjoyed the food choices & our waitress was wonderful
It's our go-to place when cooking is not going to happen. The burgers are super good and the pizzas excellent as well. Servers are fun and informative. Food is not fancy but good and "homespun" - think fried chicken, meat loaf and occasional steaks. Salads are good as well.
Food was very good and there was a ride range menu items. Wide range of parking right in front. Located in a strip mall, but without strip mall feel.
While it was a Saturday night, this is an established restaurant who should be used to busy weekend dinner hours. Our server was difficult to find at times. Meals came staggered to the table. One of the orders was completely wrong, and the server never acknowledged it or offered to do something about it. It is a loud restaurant, but we expected that going in.
Food was okay- not as good as it has been when we have previously dined there. I likely would go back, but NOT on a weekend.
My wife had the corned beef special for St. Pat's, I had the steak wedge with blue cheese. Both great, service beyond wonderful.
Tuana was a fabulous waitress
Food is very good. Waiter was a little unfriendly but it was very busy.
Enjoy it every time. Just can't pass up the focaccia bread and dip.
Tried the meatloaf today and found it flavorful. Love their sage pesto salmon and typically order salads (they're always very flexible about substituting ingredients. Service is typically above average.
The steak tips were tasty, cooked properly rare, but very tough and hard to eat
Good beer selection. Wonderful appetizers (some enough for lunch) and tempting e trees.
Introduced the restaurant to my family member with celiacs disease. He was delighted with all the choices. Service was great. The manager came by to wish us a happy birthday. Great lunch!
Delicious food, including the best gluten-free bread I've ever tasted, terrific service, and not too noisy to hold a conversation with my special someone. We'll be back again!
Meet my sister at the Bethesda location frequently. My Dad's favorite spot, but he passed away a year ago Jan. Love the steak wedge salad. And potstickers appetizer. Salmon hasn't been cooked enough last time I ordered it, so won't get that anytime soon.
Our meals were very good, especially like the gluten free options.
The mixed drinks were another story. Sent back the special Joe's Margarita, it was very sour, wouldn't have know it was a margarita if they didn't tell us it was. Someone in our party ordered another mixed drink (don't know which one) and we all agreed that wine is the best option at this restaurant.
Service began well but once order was taken the server was virtually unreachable. Hamburger was so overcooked that it was inedible. On the plus side, the cost was taken off the bill. Grilled chicken totally overcooked also, it was really dry.
Steak tips were actually cooked medium and tasted really good. The person I was with had the Mona Lisa salad which is the best salad on the menu. They really enjoyed it
