North Italia - Washington DC
Great salads and pizza and service. Got a nice booth. Enjoyed dinner in relaxed atmosphere.
Service was positively terrible. Our server disappeared after our food was delivered. We had to ask three different servers to get our check and then had to ask a manager to process the credit card payment.
Excellent restaurant except for the noise level. Good service, good food, reasonable prices, great expresso but so noisy my table companions and I had to almost shout to hear each other.
We enjoyed the food and the service very much. Thank you.
While sitting @ my indoor table chatting with colleagues, waiting to be served, I felt a bite on my legs. I excused myself from the table to confirm my suspicion. I was right…mosquitos were dining on me. So, I asked for bug repellent and much to my surprise the Manager appeared with a bottle of repellent to spray my legs and a sincere apology. Suffice it to say, this wasn't an isolated incident. I'm nursing my bites today ):
The staff and the food are amazing!! I love eating here they treat you like family. The manager Joelle does an outstanding job!
My food was amazing and I had a wonderful time. The ambiance and service was fantastic.
Everything was excellent with one exception. It took a very long time to get a cocktail.
I’ve eaten there multiple times but this last time the pizza dough was terrible! I hope this was just a bad day.
Pretty bad evening. We arrived at 8:15 on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was at least 2/3 empty. We thought that was weird, but we had read great reviews on Yelp, so we persevered. The zucca chips were greasy, and seemed to be mostly fried dough, not really zucchini. Our other starter arrived with our meal. We indicated we had hoped to "start" with the "starters," and they apologized by saying that would comp it. When the check came, we had been charged for it. For our entrees, the pizza was soggy, and the prosciutto on the pizza had not had the chewy rind removed, so you couldn't cut it or chew it. Gross. The pesto pasta was absolutely dripping with sauce. Really pretty awful evening. There's a reason it was empty on a Saturday night at 8:15.
We arrived early and they were able to seat us immediately. The beer was good, the pizza was great. However, the cheese board appetizer was lackluster and was not a good value for $18. We have received much more and a wider variety of food for a more reasonable price. The waitress did a wonderful job and overall, it was an enjoyable evening.
The waiter had fantastic suggestions. Everything I ordered was delicious...except my pizza was a little over-cooked. Still tasty and I’ll definitely return to try other items on the menu. Can’t overstate what great service I received.
North Italia provides a menu with a nice balance of favorite dishes and more innovative plates and a good selection of both mains and small plates. Everything is fresh and beautifully prepared and presented. The pasta is house made and excellent. The service is very professional and very pleasant - excellent all around. The space is open, light and airy, and despite the industrial materials it is made of, not as noisy as other restaurants of this design. We had a really pleasant, delicious dinner before going to the Kennedy Center.
Great food and good service. The location is easy to find and online booking is very easy and convenient.
Great food, would love some lower salt/fat options. Great service and ambience.
North Italia has our favorite brunch in D.C. Great food and the bartender Kelly is an excellent representative of North Italia.
As a gluten free family, our pasta and pizza was amazing
We had a wonderful meal at North. The food was excellent, including the GF pasta, and the portions were surprisingly large. We were celebrating our anniversary so they brought us dessert on the house! We will definitely return and recommend to others.
Staff was friendly food was good.
The calamari was good, but not as crispy as advertised and the chicken parm was dry and over cooked. If it had been earlier in the evening, I would have sent both back, but it was late and I was hungry, so I just ate it. Definitely would not go back.
The Bolognese was fantastic!
Place is new and modern. Very nice atmosphere. The server was nice but service was very slow considering there were only a few people there. But it was more than made up for by the delicious food. The italian salad and the short rib radiatore pasta dish were great!
We were visiting DC and picked North Italia for its proximity to our hotel. We were very happy with our dinners. We split the arancini appetizer along with the avocado arugula salad and "the pig" flatbread pizza. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Our server was very pleasant. We tried a couple of their specialty drinks and all were delicious. The restaurant is nice inside. Tables are not too close together. Definitely worth the trip.
Our food was excellent! The fish was prepared perfectly and everyone else enjoyed salads and pasta dishes. Our server was ok, nice but distracted. Would definitely return.
The food is good but the service can be slow. Something to be mindful of if you have time constraints.
My sixth visit. Have tried different items on the menu and all have been delicious. Favorites are the Cesar salad , calamari , bolognese and the pizzas Will definitely return
Had dinner scheduled with a friend. They were confused on dates and were 1/2 hr late. Our server (Sara) could not have been more hospitable despite the fact that the restaurant was full. Great ambiance with "good energy". We tasted several small plates and had a pasta dish that we shared. All were good.
Great food - server seemed new- very nice and accommodating but brought salad and entree out at the same time so entree cooled off. Also insufficient time to enjoy a cocktail before the food showed up. Felt hurried . Would try again as good was excellent.
We are in this neighborhood often but first time at North Italia. Entire family very pleased with salmon and extremely tasty and fresh pasta dishes (bolognese and pesto). Lemmon sorbetto and cappuccino also both rich and smooth. We will definitely return on a future visit to GW/Dupont Circle area.
The food was generally very good, if a hair overpriced (you can get equivalently good Italian food in Eastern market for $3-5 less per entree). The big disappointment was the service: our server introduced the appetizers by dropping a profanity in explaining how good the bread was. This was an incredible shock; while our table had a good laugh about it, it was still bizarre. Then, our waiter seemed to disappear completely. The table next to us sat, had an appetizer, and had their entree before we received our bread. It appeared that the manager had to step in when our waiter disappeared, who was them utterly confused when he’d noticed that we’d already paid.
The restaurant is stylish, clean, and welcoming. It could have been a regular restaurant for my partner and I. I just don’t know what went wrong with the service!
This was one of the best restaurants my boyfriend and I went to on vacation in Washington DC. From the hostess to the service to the food, it was an amazing experience! The food itself was beyond delicious. We each had pasta and you can tell that the pasta was made fresh in the kitchen (that’s not because I saw the chef making the pasta). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in DC!
We are from NY so pizza in DC was not great.
This was our third visit to North Italia, this time with friends. The food was great, the service was great and the ambiance was great for all 3 visits. Our only issues have been with the final bill. On both our first and third visit, the wine was up-charged -- this time for $72 versus $63 on the menu, a 14% surcharge. The first time we insisted on speaking with the manager. She assured us she would correct their billing system that evening. That was May 9. This was June 28 and they're still up-charging wine. Bottom line, enjoy the restaurant but check your bill!
Best Happy Hour in the city with great deals on bottles of wine and appetizers. Great service on the patio area. Our server, Mr. Henry, provided a great experience as well as some entertainment. I forgot my sunglasses at the table and the restaurant gave me a call to let me know they would hold for me. Great food, drink, service and people.
Good friends were in town and I had loved North Italia on my two previous dining experiences so suggested it. They agreed that the food and the service were top notch but the noise made it very difficult to talk.
North Italia is a great addition to the restaurants in the Foggy Bottom area. The food is great. The service is excellent and it's nice to actually have an Italian restaurant nearby for a change. Love it!
The Service was wonderful as well as the ambiance. Great experience all around!
Terrible service. We booked a table for five and we had to ask several times to get the cutlery for all of us. The order was wrong. Instead of a full pasta we got 1/2 and the chicken salad arrived without the chicken. It was very plain with only arugula and avocado. The ambiance is pleasant and the food is ok, not great. The service made it a bad experience overall. It was a business lunch and we were quite disappointed.
Fantastic first visit. Everyone at the host stand was friendly, our server was lovely and patient, and the food and wine were super tasty. A bit pricey for regular menu items, but nice value for happy hour (we did a mix of both). Pretty interior decor, although we took the opportunity to sit outside; this is such a good addition to the otherwise fun-barren neighborhood.
Great Italian restaurant, server was awesome. Made a res. for 6 people, seated right away, perfect portion sizes, delicious food, proper wine service, and very well dimmed lighting and atmosphere.
