North Italia - Reston
Excellent— one of our favorite restaurants!
The food was amazing. I got Bolognese, and my wife got the Diver Scallops; both were amazing! Our dessert was great too! Great for an occasion!
Excellent service. Scrumptious food. Perfect ambiance.
The zucca chips, calamari, and chicken parm cannot be beat!!
North is easily one of my favorite restaurants.
It was. Rey nice. Except my husband ordered a bottle of wine. When the server opened the wine, he poured a glass of it for my daughter and myself then my husband. No taste was offered to my husband prior. That was a first for all of us
Great waiter, food was incredible! Wonderful experience!
Our server was very nice and she was attentive. The salted caramel busing was good.
The food is just ok. The sliced chicken in the pasta pesto dish seemed like it came in a store bought packet with fake grill marks. The burrata is just out of a Bel Gioso container not imported nor made in-house. The pasta was over cooked.
When our appetizer utensils were removed with the plates, our entrees arrived and we were then brought new forks only, not knives.
The whole experience could be a lot better.
Delicious food with delightful ambience!
My wife’s 50th birthday.
They would not honor open table rewards
Absolutely the best Italian Restaurant!! Can't wait for the Tysons Corner location to open!
Great food, good service.
North Italia is my go to restaurant for business lunch / meetings
North Italia was recommended by a friend so I decides to try it out. The chicken pesto was really good and so was the short rib. Def worth the drive from DC for me. I'm already planning my next visit.
Great food! Service was pretty good too considering how busy it was...
Nice lunch place and a ok dinner place, especially for budget conscious people.
Finally a restaurant in NVA that we can count on for good food. The food here is delicious, people are amazing and the ambiance is classy. Slightly on the expensive side, which is why I don't have lunch here everyday (I work in Reston Town Center), but a wonderful place for special occasions.
Must eats - Garlic Bread (best I have ever had), short ribs, Funghi pizza
They need more vegetarian items, but I enjoyed my wild striped bass and vegetables. I would have preferred more options as I don’t eat meat or fish. The calamari was a little disappointing. Read the description well as it is served differently than most places. Our portion was very small and mostly arugula. The cauliflower appetizer was a little disappointing.
Nice new restaurant for us. Food was interesting and pretty well prepared. Meatball appetizer on polenta melted in your mouth! Mussels were not quite as good. Needed garlic or different spec mixture. Hubby’s spaghetti Bolognese was tasty but spaghetti was too thick. Gelato made a nice finish! Mariah, our server, was enthusiastic and attentive! Thanks!
Great food. Beautiful ambience.
The restaurant was great, I liked that you can see the pizza oven and open kitchen, it made the place feel cozy. The meat and cheese plate was delicious, so was the margarita pizza and the hazelnut torta. Overall the quality of the food was high.
This is a great addition to Reston Town Center! The food is amazing. The burrata is so delicious and the donuts are a perfect way to end the meal!
Limited menu but the food is good. Space pretty empty....
Highly recommend the roast chicken and the pizza. Visited on a Friday night and the sound level was quite high, making it hard to talk. Second visit was on a Monday night and the sound was moderate and much easier to have a conversation.
The food was delicious, unfortunately the service was incredibly disappointing. Our waitress seemed very distracted and we were certainly not a priority to her. Simple things like not getting our waters, waiting a long time for the check, and just simply not being spoken to kindly. When we did receive our bill to sign; we realized we had received someone else pay stub. The manager came over and apologized; we discussed what had happened, and he didn’t do anything to make up for the inconvenience. It’s unfortunate because the food was very delicious- hoping they figure the service situation out!
Second visit within 5 days.. that means its good! this time brought the company leadership team for lunch.
I'm willing to try North Italia again, especially because I loved the ambiance (having dined in that space before, it's fascinating how different it is now), seeing the kitchen and the dough being tossed in the air -- and it was busy for a Thursday night! The food was good. The main reason why I didn't give the restaurant higher ratings overall is because of the simple fact that I had ordered chicken to go with my salad. It got forgotten, so I had to re-request it; it eventually came but was much delayed (why would I eat a salad otherwise, besides the protein?!)... and, after all that, I still got charged for it, or wasn't given a free dessert or the like. I dine out frequently, and such accommodations come with the best of service. So that's my recommendation to the staff/manager -- up the bar a notch!
Great food! Nice atmosphere. Will go again next time I'm in town.
The food was fantastic. It was actually much better than I expected. We had the scallops and the short rib, and both were among the best versions of each dish that we had ever tasted. The risotto with the scallops and the polenta with the short ribs were both excellent accompaniments to the dishes. For the food alone, I'd recommend the restaurant.
As far as the service and the ambiance, I think there could be some improvements. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive but our entrees came out before our appetizer (some very yummy Zucca chips). We mentioned it to the person who brought the food (not our waiter) and the appetizer was then brought out. In looking at our receipt when we got home, I see that we weren't charged for the appetizer, which was nice, but nobody in the restaurant acknowledged the mistake or apologized.
The setup of the restaurant was OK. Unfortunately, our table was basically in the entry-way. There is no dedicated lobby and the door opens into the middle of the restaurant, which is where we were seated. Getting a draft/breeze every time someone came or went from the restaurant was uncomfortable. Being right in the main thoroughfare of the restaurant wasn't very pleasant, and given the cost of the meal, took away from the date-night experience.
So based on the excellence of the food alone, the restaurant is terrific, but given the ambiance and service levels being more on par with a fast-casual experience such as a Chilis or an Olive Garden, I think they need to revisit their value proposition. $30 entrees either need to come with impeccable service or include a salad or bread or something more to justify this becoming a regular place we eat. Charging $5 for bread and oil again seems to take away from the experience and type of restaurant that North Italia is trying to be.
The food was delicious; the service was awesome; it was a beautiful day and we were sitting outside - the only thing that concerns me just a little is that the prices for lunch are a little high for working folks. I wonder if you'd entertain the thought of lunch specials. It's a place that I'd like to frequent more than just for special occasions.
I must admit that my expectations were not very high after reading the reviews of North Italia left by others. So perhaps the low expectation led to an excellent evening. Our server, Chris, was extraordinary. Knowledgeable, Friendly, Helpful, and he made great recommendations. I rate food equality based on whether I can cook a better meal. I could not have matched the quality of the food for dinner at North Italia. The chicken parm was perfect. the squid-ink pasta was interesting and well prepared (a little to juicy however - go lighter on the sauce), and the deserts were perfect. I did not care for the Caesar salad with the addition of red cabbage, but the sauce was not bad. the homemade pasta was slightly over cooked but not exceedingly so. Sorry, but i am kind of picky about food... overall, job well done. Chris made it a fun evening, and when I suggested that the Brussel-Sprout Pizza could use some capers, he showed up with a bunch of capers instantly... which really enhanced an otherwise too bland pizza appetizer. i am pleased that Reston now has a quality Italian restaurant and hope that North Italia continues to improve. Yay!
We dined al fresco and it was delightful. Salad with salmon delicious, the chef cooked it to our wishes, medium rare. Excellent service.
I went with high hopes because I love Italian food. I was hoping the menu would be more extensive than what I saw online, but it is not. A few pasta dishes, some seafood , poultry, and some small plates were on the menu, but a pretty limited selection. Bread and olive oil would be a nice addition, but only grilled bread and a cheesy bread were available, for an extra charge.
That said, everything we ordered was very tasty, well prepared and plated attractively. The waiter was nice and attentive, and service was fast. Our table ordered two salmons, one trout and one pesto pasta entree.
Very loud. Gluten free bread was too hard but liked the toppings. My chicken was very aromatic but too spicy.
The sweet tea was amazing!
Best Italian within 30 miles of Reston by far! Happy North has come easy. We have enjoyed it while in AZ for a couple of years.
Excellent food and service. A little pricey but part of what you're paying for are the extensive renovations to the space and the location. Interesting food, I had the squid which was excellent. Our server was outstanding, a real pro. One quibble: they do not give you bread automatically, it's $5.00, which is lame, especially for an Italian restaurant.
I am glad that RTC now has an Italian restaurant to replace Il Fornaio, although I liked Il Fornaio's ambiance much, much more than North Italia's.
Really enjoyable Saturday evening dining with friends! Great service and food!
Service was very slow, especially at first. I got a pebble in my vegetables.
Food was excellent then I recommend that you order your appetizers and hold back ordering the main course. When we were there our entrees came 2 minutes after we received our appetizers and wine. We asked them to take it back to the kitchen and they apologized. Only been open a month are trying to sort out the processes and get the staff trained. We would go back.
