North Beach Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Disappointed . I want to like this restaurant. We are local and have come here several times. Sometimes the experience is good and other times not. Tonight we had one of the worst dinners. All three of us. My seafood gumbo was overspiced and overwhelming. The seafood was overcooked. The salad had brown pieces and was not fresh. The fries on my guests meals were burnt. When this was mentioned to our server, we were told their customers liked their fries crisp. These were black and burned. My guests did not complain but they did not eat all their food. I will not be back. Too bad. I really liked the concept.
Made reservations for the dining room for lunch and they sat us in the bar in a corner. Apparently the whole dining room was being used for a meeting for the staff. I was taking my friend out for lunch , it was not the ambience I was looking for, we left and went to North beach fish camp, in Atlantic beach. I would not recommend this place for lunch
Second time here..... not as great as the first Im sorry to say but still OK. Food quality still very good, chef deserves praise for ingredient choices and presentation. Service not so good tonite.... water ran out twice with no attention and entire meal including salad, sides, and main course delivered all at one time with plates everywhere and the main dish getting cold while we ate the salad..... all said still good but not a home run tonite. Wedge salad was served last time with a steak knife which was great, tonite none so using the regular knife didnt work nearly as well. Will give them another try, still on my list of good places to go.
Seated promptly on a Saturday night with a prior reservation. Menu was varied and all food selections were well prepared and presented. Lots of nice touches including an excellent homemade blue cheese dressing with capers and the humus spread for the warm bread loaf. Prices were good considering the quality of the food served. We will be back...... maybe next time at the bar side???
Amazing meal. Waiter was beyond helpful and entertaining to boot! Definitely recommend this place if you're in Jacksonville. As we were leaving we noticed the vibrant bar scene and live music. It was a great and unexpected experience and we'll visit again when in town.
We have been here several times and the one thing I can say is it is consistent. The food is always good and the service is always good. I had the pot roast and it was very good. My wife had the filet and was also impressed. The chocolate chip cookie for dessert was also very good. The only recommendation I would have would be to make sure you sit in the back. We were near the front and got a cold blast of air and a blast of smoke every time someone went outside for a smoke. They should make people go out the front door to have a cigarette. Other than that, it was another very good dining experience.
New Year’s Eve Menu was superb! Chef hit it out of the park with this Prix Fix Menu...As always this wonderful gem never disappoints on service, food or ambiance! Server LaVonda always makes our dining experience even more enjoyable! This is one of our favorite places whether it be a special dinner or just everyday dining out.
We were in town for the Taxpayer Bowl in Jacksonville on Dec. 30th but we stayed on Jacksonville Beach. We went to North Beach Bistro by ourselves (my wife and me) on Thursday night then our friends (3 couples) came down the next day. We got a reservation the next night for 8 at 8:00 and had a great time. We all loved it though we wish they could've stayed open a little later.
Lavonda was our bartender the first night and our waitress the second night. She was great!!! Very friendly and offered great service. We would definitely go back and would ask for her when we do.
Each of our six diners RAVED about their dinners.. from the chef's special prep of local grouper to fried shrimp to the traditional salmon and scallops on the menu, all were very very happy. Our appys were the blue chips and the calamari and they were absolute hits. Chef Dave is so talented... he does amazing things with our local seafood!! Love this place!
This was a Thanksgiving Buffet with little to no ambiance. The prime rib was moderately tasty but too rare. The thinly sliced Turkey and ham tasted more like deli meat. Dressing, sweet potatoes and whipped potatoes were very good although gravy was lacking in flavor. The aldente beans and carrots were barely warmed. The salad was very good and I mostly ate salad for my $35+ meal. My mother loved the bread pudding and my husband said the small pies were good. When the rolls were finally available they were good. Our hostess was attentive to any beaverage needs that we had. (all extra, even tea and coffee) I may try the regular, menu for a meal but not the buffet Holliday meal.
Wonderful spot and Katie is terrific! Have suggested in the past that terrible glare from upper window exists...guests from across the table unable to see faces! Have seen same comments from others. Do not understand why owners do not remedy such a situation...so simple and could be inexpensive!
We celebrated with family members on Thanksgiving Day and it was awesome. The food was everything I could have hoped for and service outstanding. It was a buffet in a room by itself and everyone was able to get through very easily. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will return.!
Disappointed. Third Holiday visit and last. Fruit salad was mainly melon. Salad was plentiful. Peel and eat shrimp ok. Garlic mashed potatoes good. Sweet potatoes were lumpy and tastless. Green beans and carrots were heavy with garlic and cold. Turkey was dry. Stuffing was ok, little dry. Desserts were major disappoinment. Chocolate cake soaked in hersey can syrup. Mini pumpkin pie tasteless. Strawberry shortcake- some strawberries still had stem in them. Really just not a value for the money. And it was dark and gloomy inside the restaurant. Melinda the server was pleasant. Cannot recommend. It felt like eating where Thanksgiving died.
we ate thanksgiving brunch and it was very eye appealing and tasty it had a variety the roast beef and mashed potatoes were wonderful, the dressing and gravy were very tasty, the turkey was mostly white meat and I am a dark meat person so just tasted the turkey and it was good the bread pudding was great
This is a large restaurant, which includes a separate bar area, a dining area, and access to the gallery next-door. The separation between the bar and dining room is very nice. It makes the noise level in the restaurant modest. Conversations are easily carried on. The table spacing is comfortable. The food and the service we’re both good, but no wow factor. That’s okay. This a restaurant that seems to have a loyal following because they have done a lot of things well enough.
Love this neighborhood gem of a reatuarant! The food and cocktails are always fresh, carefully crafted and delicious. They have a vibrant bar scene with live music that is tucked away on the others side of the restaurant and seems to be very popular. My only suggestion is that the server didnt bring bread and the delicious tapendane. We had to ask for it, which I think should be an automatic thing when guests get their drinks. I’ll be back again!
Very good choice for dinner (this was our first visit). We were a group of 8 and all the apps and entrees were all very tasty. Great desserts, too. This was a big football game weekend and the pace of service felt a little rushed; perhaps in anticipation of turning the table over. Nice wine options by the glass. I'd definitely go back next time I'm staying near Jax beach.
We went to North Beach Bistro for a quiet dinner so we could catch up with a couple of friends. Unfortunately, they had a wedding reception in the dining room so its was loud and chaotic. Booked reservation on Open Table so guess there was no way to proactively alert us to the situation. Still would have been nice of the hostess to alert us to the wedding before seating us.
Food was OK, two diners had half a chicken special.......one thought it was overcooked and the other got a tiny piece of chicken. My fish was very good and our other friend had prime rib sliders which she said were good.
Liked our waiter.
