The food Normanside Restaurant is always outstanding. I have never had a medicore meal.
The service is professional, but friendly.
The dining room is lovely and the acoustics are such that conversation is enjoyable .
They currently have great happy hour deals,
5-8 Monday through Friday evenings.
I was looking for something different for dinner. I happened to come across this restaurant, I was looking for something inexpensive. I typically don’t eat hamburgers but Normanside offers $10 burgers so that’s what I got and it was just what I wanted. I was sat next to the fireplace which was very nice for me and it was a relaxing atmosphere mostly because it wasn’t very busy.
Food is always very good. Even a sandwich seems special. Prices are reasonable. A nice quiet relaxing atmosphere with good service.
A group of neighbors enjoy getting together and going to Normanside several times a year to talk and catch up on news. We always enjoy going to the Normanside because the food is good, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is quiet and pleasant .The service is always warm and welcoming. Every time we go, we come out saying what a pleasant time we’ve had. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants a enjoyable evening out.
My party of four all had the strip steak, which came with potatoes and broccolini. The steaks were tender and flavorful. The restaurant was busy, but our waitress stayed on top of things. She was pleasant and efficient. Comfortable seating and a nice atmosphere.
Fortunately we were seated near the warm fire place on a snowy evening.
The service was fine.
Food arrived in a few minutes and was good but not outstanding.
For example the Spanakopita was not made with filo dough, but
seemed to be rolled in a pancake.
Ambiance was perfect-no loud music, no loud conversations,
sound at a minimum-allowed us to enjoy our conversation
Planning to return.
Always enjoy Normanside. The food is eclectic and always tasty. Great environment too.
Beef was good but side dishes was terrible. Potato were uncooked and broccoli was over roasted.
Food took a very long time to come out. They did not register the Open Table Res. Had to wait to be seated. Food was very good when it arrived.
Amazing Chef, awesome prices, love this place! What a hidden gem!
Very hard to hear over the drunk country club members yelling at each other at the bar. The food was fine, but took a long time, considering there were only 2 other tables eating.
service was below average
food was decent
speed was slow
We were a party of 13. Service was good. Food was excellent. I was shocked at how inexpensive the whole check was. I highly recommend!
There was something on the menu for everyone! Sandwich, pizza, salad, and seafood pasta trapanese with house made pasta!! Everything was delicious. Can not wait to go for dinner again.
Normanside has small plates at a very reasonable price. Between the four of us, we were able to sample many appetizers. There was not one thing any of us didn't like! Everything was absolutely delicious! Their burgers are the best, not to mention there are unique things like cauliflower meatballs (yum!). I'm almost afraid to tell people because I plan on going back a lot and I want to be able to get a seat. :) This is Delmar's best kept secret, and I am so happy to have experienced dining here. The service was prompt, pleasant and professional. The food was amazing, and the dining room was very tasteful and pretty and clean.
Very underrated. Great dirty Martini!
Food was very good with nice atmosphere. Service a little slow but was quite busy
Great value, delicious risotto, staff has a good sense of when they’re needed - not interrupting but not absent.
Excellent food and cocktails. Really creative menu. Suggest table by the fireplace in winter. Good wine and beer list.
Pre-Valentine Day dinner. My husband had the very tender and delicious Strip Steak. I had the two Small Plate specials - Fish & Chips, and Beef Tenderloin & Potatoes, both were excellent. We both started with the French Onion Soup. We shared a decadent slice of Mocha Chocolate Cake. Two cocktails and a cup of coffee. The cost was under $70.
Food is delicious. Our server was attentive. I made a reservation on Open Table for a party of six, requesting separate checks, and although I received a confirmation from Open Table, the restaurant had no record. Luckily, we were seated and separate checks were not a problem.
Delicious dinner - started with Sweet Potato & Andouille Sausage soup, shared house salad. I had the Red Snapper special, my husband the Strip Steak. All cooked to perfection. Finished with decadent chocolate desserts. Happy we chose Normanside for our 22nd anniversary
The food was not very good on Friday night. The clam chowder had vegetables that were overcooked, as was the quesadilla.. Three of us had the quesadilla, and they were all overcooked and lacked flavor. I have dined at Normanside many times, and this is the first time I did not enjoy the food.
They have a gem of a chef, the food is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. This place is very special in those two regards. The downside is the service is not up to speed with the quality of the food. Very very nice servers but they lack a proper training for service, like properly serving wine. At least our server did when we were there. I tried teaching her. She was very enjoyable otherwise. Love this place!
There was only one waitress and it happened to be a very busy Tuesday evening, she was overwhelmed. By the time she gave us the wine list, we were almost done eating our dinner so there was no point to ordering our drinks to celebrate my brother's birthday. It was not the fault of the waitress, poor staffing and the manager and other staff should have stepped in to help her. First time of many visits here that this has happened. It's a great place to go, food is always good, normally quiet so if anyone in your party is hard od hearing you can still carry on a conversation. Staff is friendly.
Varied menu, casual to full entrees. Quality of the food is very good. Ambiance is nice. Service was excellent.
Dinner and service were very good. It was very quiet, and my family had a great time!
We both had the seafood special - Swordfish. It was some of the freshest and perfectly seasoned cooked Swordfish we had ever eaten. I also had the Crab bisque, it too was very tasty.
Excellent food with a wide variety of choices. Lovely, large dining room. Service friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful location bordering the golf course.
Disappointed in the menu selection. The desserts were also limited, and there wasn't a chocolate one!
We were there for a family birthday dinner. Food is always good, prices are reasonable, the wait staff are friendly and they offer new and interesting food choices.
This was a disappointing visit. They were unaware of our reservation which was embarrassing for our guests. There was a lot of activity in the bar and that seemed to throw off the kitchen and waitstaff. Food was quite good but service was slow and inattentive. Water not refilled, long wait for each course and bill. No bread service offered (usually there is). Had mentioned special occasion when reservation was made, but since they lost that, they certainly did not acknowledge the event. Will not go back on a Saturday evening.
Great job overall
Excellent food for reasonable price. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Normanside, where we sat by a beautiful cozy fire and ate fantastic food. There is a wide variety on the menu from small plates and salads to dinners. My entree of ricotta filled pastry with mushrooms, spinach, mozzarella stracciatella and a butternut squash purée was filled with flavor and perfect for a fall night.
Love this place.
Not many people know about this place but it really is a hidden gem.
Would come back again.
One of my favorite in the capital district.
I am glad it is not so crowded.
