Our drinks came after we finished our food and there was only one other table with guests at the restaurant. Our bill took 20 mins to get after asking.
The dining room I had very good ambiance. The decorations
The music was too loud for a room with low ceilings and only a few tables occupied, making it difficult to have a conversation. The food was ok. The chicken was on the dry side and pasta quite oily. Carrot soup was good but needed more salt. Overall, the restaurant is in a unique setting and nicely decorated. But the ambiance and food could use improvement.
We ate there Sunday evening, September 15. Unfortunately, we didn't make note of our server's name but she was very friendly and helpful. She recommended an excellent wine. The food was terrific as always.
Excellent experience! Outstanding service and delicious food and drinks!
Wonderful food, service and ambience. A little pricey for the portion size, but overall a great experience.
This place is well designed, beautiful atmosphere. Nice but casual. Good for anything from brunch to lunch to date or dinner with a small group/family. The service is ok - definitely ask for menu recommendations - there are some amazing standouts like the scallop tostados and homemade guacamole.
The dining was great! Everything we got was amazing.
We ate at Norman while staying at the Skyview. The dinner menu is limited but offers some good options. Food was good and the service very attentive. My only negative was the swarming of flies. They leave the doors and windows open for the breeze, but the flies and gnats were really annoying during dinner. Get some screens
Loved it! The Ambiance and "Mary's Chicken" were equally fab. The fun design, great outdoor seating, excellent customer service and vibe all made it worth the short drive out of town.
We felt like we stepped back to the 70’’s with a comfortable ambience and delicious food and drinks.
Quiet hidden gem. This restaurant is tucked away in the Skyview hotel, just off the 101 highway. The decor is retro and beautifully done.
My salad was fresh with only a hint a dressing, which made it perfect for me. The scallop tostadas were amazing, but very small and only one scallop per tostada and only two of them for a main dish. I would have been starving if I hadn’t ordered the salad, more an appetizer than a main dish. I even had room for dessert which I rarely eat. My partner had an egg salad sandwich which was tasty and the filling generous and came with a side salad. We split a brownie, which was actually a was almost lava cake, and a tiny tiny scoop of ice cream.
The view is amazing. Be warned that you must park at the bottom of a very steep hill and hike up and back down, so no stiletto heels!
We are delighted , my husband ordered the chicken and waffles and they were very delicious but is a little over prize for the Central Coast! I order the Avocado toast and it was very tasty!
Please apply my open table points.
The employees lack customer service experience. I’ve stayed before and had the same experience with another employee. You feel as if you’re bothering them while checking in. They do not seem well informed of amenities, nor care to find out about them for you.
For instance- ask if there is daily maid service- answer: maybe, I don’t know.
The hotel is so nice, it would help if I felt welcomed when I arrive. Both times I did not
The waitress dropped an entire drink on my boyfriend. Tried to tell me that a spritz was my kir royal.... they were nice but still some kinks. Food was decent but not amazing. Great ambiance, really nice outdoor patio.
I was looking forward to eating at Norman's. It's obviously very convenient when staying at Skyview (and we loved our over all stay at Skyview) but Normans was the most disappointing part of our stay by far. Our reservation was at 8pm, we sat promptly and our main courses were brought out cold two hours later just around 10 pm. We waited so long for our waitress to ask us for a drink order that we finally walked up to the bar to order directly from the bartender to be told the bar was closed because it had gotten too late. When the food finally did show up, it was pretty disappointing. Some items were cold and had obviously been sitting but regardless, nothing bowled us over in terms of flavor. Except the bill, that was still huge. Perhaps they had an off night since everyone in the place seemed disappointed with the service, wait time, meal and what they paid for the lack luster experience. But it's a beautiful charming space and the motel/hotel itself is great.
Unfortunately, we went on an extremely busy weekend, that the restaurant was clearly not prepared for. It was incredibly disappointing considering it was my birthday and I really wanted to enjoy my meal. The meal took 2.5 hours to receive entrees, the entrees were so bad we had to send back. The drinks were taking almost an hour to get. The waitress didn't really understand how to take care of the table. We asked bar tender separately for drinks and he seemed confused and didn't want to help us. Had to send all the food back. Hate to be negative but was super disappointed. Especially at the fact that the bar at the pool didn't open until 3 pm. isnt the point of being at a hotel pool, that you can eat and drink????? what the hell lol.
My 2nd time there and was not disappointed. My cocktail was spot on and the vegetarian risotto with fresh mushrooms was perfect. My friend’s French fries were the best ever. I can’t wait to go back!
Food was excellent and ambiance was fun too. Food selection was a bit limited and the walk up a very steep incline from parking lot can be challenging.
Great location! Awesome remodel! Pretty views. Food was great! Service was great! We will be back! So excited - great addition to the Los Alamos dining scene.
We will be returning without a doubt, such a lovely place and the waitress was super friendly. Bartender Carlos made us outstanding drinks.
Service was a bit slow. But that may have just be how the restaurant operates.
The service, ambiance and cocktails were fantastic. The food was ok, not awful, just not spectacular.
The food was excellent. Overpriced, I thought, but excellent. If I hadn't ordered a salad delivered with the scallops, the three scallops would have been VERY lonely indeed.
Beautiful restoration of the restaurant and grounds. Dining area offers scenic views in a casual atmosphere. Food was excellent, prices moderate and service friendly.
First they couldn’t find our reservation. Then service was so slow it took us two hours for a simple meal. Some diners meals came out 10m before the others. No one ever asked about refilling drinks. We were not offered dessert or coffee. I felt the menu was limited. Overall a fail.
The food was delicious at Norman Skyview Restaurant!
Amazing. 3 hours later and we're still here. Lol
We loved the view and decor. Disappointed in the lack of entree items and would like to have seen a steak, lamb choice. Corkage was very high and no Foxen Canyon area wine!!! Scallop entree was very good and my husband enjoyed the hamburger even though he had looked forward to a steak!
There's more to the Skyview Los Alamos than the view. Norman, the resort's bar and dining room, is a big part of the draw to this out-of-the way place, looming over U. S. 101 in northern Santa Barbara County. The Chef's ad hoc version of creamy broccoli soup was worth the trip alone, but the salads and entrées will keep us coming back. The burger's no slouch, either.
Great dinner at a reasonable price, attentive friendly service. Great view, pleasant quiet surrounding.
We had such a great meal at Norman. We were a bit worried because it was 3 families, and all the kids are under 7 years of age, but our waiter totally took care of us and took away any worried feelings we had about having so many little ones with us. It helped that we were there at 5pm, but regardless, we felt so welcomed and taken care of. Additionally the drinks and food were great! Must try the Hen of the Woods Chickenless Nuggets!
Excellent dinner and drinks! Loved the vibe! Great service!
Parking was the only thing that was strange, but won’t stop me from coming back!
We had reservations and they were not ready for us. The employees seemed stressed and understaffed. Hamburger was requested medium well and it was raw. The cocktails and ambiance were fantastic!
Very few entree choices and the food itself was just okay - lacking in flavor. There were 3 of us who each had one of the few entree options, and we all agreed that the food was lacking. The service and ambiance were great, but the food - especially at those prices - was disappointing.
The service was as poor as the food was good. Go for the food, be prepared for poor service.
View and ambiance
Our stay and dinner at the Skyview and Norman was the highlight of our California coastal tour. What a beautiful spot. The folks at Skyview have thought of everything... someone there has an eye for detail.
Norman, at the Skyview in Los Alamos, is a rare find for a motel restaurant. Quality of food was very good, service was good in an unusual place. Would recommend if staying local, especially at the Skyview.
