Nori Sushi and Lounge
Well prepared sushi,. Nice selection. Small, but comfortable. They often feature live music from some of the areas best musicians. Worthy of support.
My girlfriend and I chose this place for our first anniversary. She's a big sushi fan and I'm not, so the ability to have some other choices on the menu really helped. We both enjoyed our meals (I had bibimbap) and the food was excellent. I thought the prices were fair and she said that the sushi was good (despite some other reviews. Though she said, "I like supermarket sushi too" so if you're a sushi snob, take that for what it's worth).
I thought the ambiance was nice and we were the only table for the beginning of our meal. Some of the service seemed a little scattered. The person who served us eventually rotated off and then we didn't get our check for quite some time, but we weren't in a rush so that didn't matter. I did feel a little lost in the menu (I had never really had Korean food outside of Korean BBQ stands) so some experience or research beforehand might be good. Still, I thought that everything tasted great and I was very pleased with the experience. I plan to return!
I want impressed with sushi. Maybe one of their other items might be better. Not sure I’d try it again though
Unprofessional hostess and waitress. Could hear them yelling at the kitchen staff.
The food was really good...the drinks were ok...the service was sooo slow! Which is sad because there were literally only 2 then eventually 3 other tables in the whole restaurant besides us...the server never came back to fill our water bottles give us napkins or soy sauce...I had to go to other empty tables for that. But the food was really yummy!
Nori brings a breath of fresh air to the Avenue food scene. My friends and I absolutely loved everything we had, especially the shumai, the rainbow roll, and the seared tuna. Our server, Veronica, was delightful and available when we needed her without being overbearing. I will definitely be back!
Wow the happy hour was fantastic for food!! And the surprise of live music from 7-10pm where you could focus on the music or still have a conversation was just right. Will plan to go back on purpose!!
Lovely Restaurant, the ramen was really good and the tofu in my soup was crispy. The portions where a bit small 4 crab ragoon per order but the pastry was of fine quality and the filling was nice if a little sweet. We had no problem with anything we ordered and our birthday dinner went off with out a hitch.
They only get three stars because they recorded me as a cancellation to open table even though I arrived on time and informed them that I had a reservation
The food was disappointing. Sushi is easy to mess up. The hot stone dishes were cool and better than the sushi. The service was terrible; the server was nice but clueless.
Same day reservation
Very knowledgeable, helpful and polite staff
Food REALLy good
Would return on next visit!!
The happy hour sushi specials at Nori are really good and one out of our 2 happy hour appetizers was good (avoid the crispy calamari, it's really chewy). The pad thai was ok. I would go again and stick to sushi. The service is really slow though so don't expect to be in and out.
This place is amazing!! Our service was fabulous and the food was completely delicious. We started with edamame and continued with a few sushi rolls, nigiri and a bokkeumbap bowl. Everything was great, not to mention the relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be back again!!
Good food but expensive sushi ($15 rolls) considering they use fake crab (sticks) rather than real crab in rolls. Otherwise tasty sushi and good service although a bit overeager to have us pay up even though there were empty tables in the restaurant.
Server was nice but unfortunately not very good. Restaurant was overwhelmed with orders, not due to volume, but rather unprepared. Food was also just OK.
Food was good, but I was very disappointed that they didn’t have shrimp siumai (as the online menu said it did). They had crab siumai, but it was imitation crab. Bulgogi was good. Menu was somewhat limited if you don’t eat sushi.
Took a friend to Nori for her birthday. It was a first visit for both of us. The staff was great, making suggestions based on our food preferences. The food was very fresh, creative and delicious. Loved the sashimi tacos, the red bean bao, the tofu bimbimbop. Our waitress took wonderful care of us, and we left not only satisfied but feeling like we had shared a very special night.
Our server was incredibly attentive. The food arrived quickly, and it was delicious. I love that this place has both Korean and Japanese food. Good value, too.
The sushi was very good and the service was friendly. Quite unique flavors. The dining room is small. So it was a little chilly (Jan) because of the door to the outside.
Great food and service, we’ll be back !
our server was the sweetest guy and I had the best rolls
Had a very nice meal. Service was a tad slow but not horrible. Great little sushi restaurant. Will definitely he back.
Our server was fabulous. The food was delish! We dined there twice in one week it was so good!!!
I loved that the sushi chef was very concerned when my companion didn't want any garlic in the menu item he selected; the chef literally came over to ask him whether he was allergic to garlic, or just didn't like it? He then went on to explain that there would be a hint of garlic, because of the stock used in the dish that he had chosen. That was very nice of him to do. My companion thoroughly enjoyed the selection he made, and I enjoyed my meal, as well. Very well-rounded, and interesting selection of maki and sushi. We'll have to go again to try other things on the menu. I would recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy Japanese cuisine.
Enjoyable experience. Delicious food and delectable service. Enthralling environment and a dandy time is to be had. Recommended!
Sensational variety of sushi, all of which sound exquisite. On my past Nori endeavor, I embarked on the sushi deluxe platter, which was robust for two dining patrons. Immensely recommended and I'll sure to be back for another session of sushi
The food was very good. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The rolls were on the small side, but were very well prepared. The only non-sushi eater enjoyed her noodle bowl as well. The problem was how slow everything was. The server said they only had one sushi chef and two servers (one had quit that night), but it was REALLY slow. It took awhile for any server to come over and the drinks--especially the cocktail--were slow to come. The appetizers came out pretty quickly (edamame and a tuna poke dish) and the noodle bowl came out in a reasonable time, but the sushi (4 rolls) did not come until about an hour after we were first seated. By then, the person eating the noodle bowl was completely done with her dinner. And during that time, the over-burdened server never came to check on us, or he would have seen our empty drink glasses and empty water pitcher. We ordered a second round of sushi, which came more quickly and was equally good (it was now nearly 9 p.m. and we sat down at 7, so things had cleared out a good bit). We will come back to give this place another chance because the food was good once we got it, but if they don't work improve the pace, it will never survive.
Sushi was absolutely delicious! We also had the dumpling soups to start off. Other tables around us had ramen and some of the other food from the menu which also looked good. A friend told me that the service was slow, and it definitely was for us but when we went a server had just quit so they were down a set of hands. Sushi was amazing and definitely worth the long wait for our food.
Came here on a date and we ordered the Chef’s choice sushi deluxe platter. The platter was huge and we got to try what felt like everything on the menu. Had a great time, the service was very fast, and would definitely go back.
I was curious about this restaurant. There are a number of sushi bars around and I was wondering what would make it stand out. They did a good job with the space they have. Very nicely decorated. However, the space is small so the tables are quite crowded together. Making moving around tricky and you can easily hear the conversation of the table next to you.
The night we were there service was slow, but the waitstaff nice. The menu has a wonderfully large array of options. The crab rangroon was excellent! As was the nigiri. Best nigiri I've had in Baltimore actually. The sushi rolls were okay, but nothing I'd recommend. Also worth mentioning the cocktails were well done. So all in all I'll go back, but not for any kind of a special evening.
The food was delicious. Unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. Drinks for the four of us didn’t come out at the same time and the hot food came out well before (like 30 minutes) before the sushi which seemed weird. If they can get the service together it would be a great experience.
This restaurant took over the old location of the Corner BYOB. It is tough because once you were a regular of the predecessor, when it was good, it will take time for you to step into the same place. That said, the food is definitely different and they do try to make good cocktails. The service needs a little work especially when the restaurants starts to fill up with customers around 7:00 pm on a Saturday night. Be patient. My suggestion is, get in early and try to leave before it gets crowded. Decent Korean/Japanese cuisine. If you have dietary restriction, i.e., no dairy or gluten free, great place. I will probably drop by again since it is in my neighborhood and a casual joint.
