What a lovely evening! My husband and I met some friends for dinner at Quince Bistro on Friday evening. The menu is small. We ordered a variety of different dishes among the four of us. Everything from salad to seafood, from salmon to pork beautifully prepared. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we entered. Our waiter, Michael, was most attentive and responsive to our requests. We plan to visit Quince Bistro again.
Thursday night before a holiday weekend was surprisingly busy here. Not quite enough wait people, but they were very polite and tried hard to be on top of things. Food as always was good, plentiful and creative. However the big hunk of brisket was hard to cut into bite-sized pieces; maybe should be cut in half in kitchen?
We've been to Quince several times and enjoyed every time. This last visit was very busy with Summerlicious but the service and food were still excellent. Good choices on the menu. Although packed, we could still hear each other's conversation without overhearing our neighbouring table. Love this place!!
The food was great, perfectly cooked. The servers brought the food out on time, not rushed or late. Summerlicious here, is a great deal if you get the opportunity definitely try the lamb and the octopus. The only issue is the busy street it's on can be a little loud, with police sirens going off every so often. Great restaurant!
The ambiance and location of Quince's is quite nice and it looks very welcoming. The food is another issue. I had difficulty finding something good and it was only through process of elimination that I found something. This included the waiter telling me that some of the menu items may not be up to what I would expect. There was much too much grain included with everything. If there were birds around, I would be able to feed them all night.
Summerlicious menu is OUTSTANDING! Took friends there and they LOVED it and remarked how happy they were that we went. Michael (wait staff) is their ambassador of good spirits and great recommendations always. Jennifer (co-owner) is always lovely and gracious. Would go every weekend if I could! :)
My husband & I were excited to try Quince based on the great reviews. We were warmly greeted and sat on the patio until our table was ready as we were early. We started with the "Little Sister" poutine. The poutine was not as tasty as I have had elsewhere. My Steak frites dinner was not cooked to order. I had requested medium well-done and my steak was cooked medium rare. I did eat the outside and most of it until I realized how rare it was. When I did mention it to the server, she acknowledged that it was rare and not as ordered. The server did not apologize or mention it again and charged full price without any offer for the inconvenience. The food was just mediocre and not a restaurant we would return to.
First time at the establishment, and it was memorable. The food was flavoured well, and cooked all the way through. I had the crispy lamb shoulder, and it was literally falling apart, melting in my mouth. Definitely the highlight.
The surprise for me, came with the app. I had the little sister poutine, which was just delicious. I usually have a strong distaste for fries, but I'd order this again.
Lastly, the dessert. Big fan of brownies, so had to choose their only brownie dessert and it didn't disappoint. Moist, sweet, and overall delectable.
The environment was nice, clean and modern. Our server was amazing. Only issue is it seems like the place might be a bit understaffed as when it started getting packed, our server was hard to find
My friends and I were looking for a dinner venue with good food/wind and ambiance and Quince fit the bill perfectly!
Lovely, lovely spot with excellent food & service. This place is so much better than packed mediocre restaurants in my neighbourhood.
I'll be back when I'm in the area.
A difficult place to find a parking spot…which resulted in a ticket. Service was pleasant, fast and friendly, food special was expensive and not special.
Ambience was cafeteria style, only plus was a relatively quiet experience which allowed for conversation.
We enjoyed our entire experience at Quince - from the reservation process through Open Table, to our greeting at the door, to the charming server and delicious meals. He was attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being pandering - it's a fine line and he trod it well.
Dinner at Quince was enjoyable as always. Very good food accompanied by attentive service. Have never been disappointed here at this stalwart of the Yonge St Toronto, Davisville - Eglinton corridor. One minor note - a tad less salt please.......but minor indeed.
Quince is a local restaurant in the Yonge Eglinton area that continues to meet and exceed expectations. The service is excellent. The food was prepared just as ordered. We had the lamb and the brisket, both of which were delicious. A great neighbourhood find.
Despite arriving early for our 830 reservation the hostess happily took us over to the bar to wait for our table for two. The service was very good all round, the selection of drinks is lively and well thought-out. Our table was cozy with a great view of Yonge, the ambience was fun. Bustling, happy, one of a good restaurant with its patrons enjoying good food!
We cannot say enough good things about the Dutch poutine for an appetizer. Holy smackers was it yummy! Our entrees were prompt, hot and delicious too. They make a lovely latte and the homemade biscotti is a great way to wrap up your dinner if you don't feel like going for a full dessert, though my goodness the sweet choices are tempting!
A friend recommended, and am so glad she did. The food was excellent and the service very friendly. There were only a handful of customers as it was early on a Monday evening, so not sure how it would be on a regular night. Enjoyed the fish special which was cooked perfectly. My friend had a pasta dish that is on the regular menu, will need to try next time.
Yonge/Davisville shops and restaurants open and close. However, neighbourhood favourites do survive and one among them is Quince. The owner/chef started in the area under another name, The Stork on the Roof, which was a gem. The couple owned restaurant took the time off for personal reasons and closed the restaurant. The place was missed. A few years later, the same couple then opened, Quince, a few blocks north. The ambiance is a bit different; perhaps now a bit more sophisticated but the food is still very good; consistent and well thought out and cooked to perfection. I have yet to experience an over cooked fish dish. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. What more could one ask for? Try it and you will not regret it!
