NOPI - Downstairs, Sharing Tables
Way too expensive for what it was. 12,5% service charge totally not worth it
Will come back
Outstanding food! One of the best meals I ever had!! Would definitely return to try EVERYTHING else on the menu. Amazing presentation of the food, too. Service was outstanding.
Only downside: even though I like the concept of sharing tables in general, it was a bit cramped and I could not enjoy the meal the way I wanted to. Might be a relaxed place for lunch, but not the best atmosphere for dinner. I would recommend booking a table upstairs for dinner.
Thank you very much. It was perfect food and very nice service. The acoustics were not very good, but we really enjoyed our lunch.
Really pleased to get a last minute table. Excellent food and atmosphere
We enjoyed an excellent meal & superb cocktails too! Sharing table was lovely, we barely noticed we were sharing as it was huge with a gorgeous large vase of flowers placed centrally which put a natural barrier between parties but in a good way! We were close to the kitchen but didn't notice any noise, the only thing we noticed were the occasional staff visit to the storage shelves next to the table. We were late but Nopi accommodated us regardless and we were not rushed away from our table, just politely advised that the next booking was imminent & invited to finish our drinks upstairs at the skinny bar. All the staff were lovely & we will definitely recommend - thank you!
A step up from Ottolenghi's - a special treat. Lovely food with those gorgeous salads! Oh and be sure to check out the bathroom!
Good food but not overwhelmingly so especially at the price.
Amazing food and calm setting in the middle of a hectic part of town. One caution - afternoon reservations are only 1h30 which felt a bit rushed - they literally cleared plates we were still eating and no time for dessert because the reservation was up.
Innovative food but too expensive for what it is. Good atmosphere.
as ever — the food, wine and waiter were everything we needed. downstairs is so beautiful and cozy, we always love it and come back whenever we can.
I was not a big fan. Whilst the food was creative and the occasional dish tasted amazing, overall we had a few meals that didn't taste that great. The mutton shawarma came with a big chunk of fat, and we asked for the duck to be taken back to be slightly fried as it was smoked and way too chewy when it first arrived. The waiting staff that looked after us were amazing and very accommodating and they made a big difference to the overall experience.
We followed advice to order small plates and share: with four of us that meant we ordered more then half the small dishes on the menu. Everything tasted fresh and interesting and was very well presented. The mutton was a favourite and also a beautifully made baked cheese pudding whose name I regret not writing down. We started with cocktails from the left column (Nopi originals - champagne gin and saffron was a winner and not too dear as these things go) and enjoyed a bottle of Musar, the Hochar vineyard variant with less oak, muscular and darkly mineral, a great accompaniment to the spicy food. We'll definitely be back!
One additional word of advice: This isn't an easy place to book but with a bit of planning you can get places on the sharing tables downstairs. If you are worried about sharing tables, don't be: we got four seats around a corner and could chat as privately as we could have done on our own table.
we had a wonderful evening, two colleagues meeting again after ten years being taken care of by a wonderful staff. thank you very much!
Good alternative to private table . You don’t feel like you’re sharing with a bunch of strangers . Liked how all the pantry produce was visible and you could see the chefs in the kitchen . Felt more like being at a house than a restaurant . Great experience . Loved it !!
Lovely date night. Since there were no tables available upstairs we opted for one of the sharing one downstairs and found it to be a very enjoyable setting and experience. We ordered some sharing dishes and they were all delicious. The pork belly was particularly good, but a bit disappointed on the polenta fries, which had a slight bitter aftertaste, but that is down to preference.
Overall it was a great dinner and can totally recommend it.
Not great for vegans
Perfect service - we treated ourselves for one night and got exactly what we wanted.
Felt like we were well valued customers and they actually wanted us to have a lovely meal and a great time. Extremely attentive with the drinks and kept the wine pouring.
Loved the food but the one criticism is that we were told we needed 6 sharing plates between us and we were absolutely stuffed after 4 so felt 6 plates is too much food and also ups the price significantly.
Loved the wine - from Georgia - smokey to smell and light to drink. Amazing.
Great food, great atmosphere, extremely reasonably priced for London - especially in its neighbourhood. Can't wait to try Otto Lenghi's other restaurants!
Delicious food, very special made .
Experience to come back .
I have eaten at this restaurant many times and it has always been exceptional, unfortunately this time my experience was a bit disappointing. The service and the food were fine but just a bit flat, lack lustre and flavours not quite working as they should, maybe everyone was a bit hung over from New Years.
As always the food and service were excellent. I always enjoy my visits to NOPI.
There were innovative dishes, that were visually well presented. The waitress was helpful in suggestions of house specials. Less helpful though in helping us gauge the amount to order, as we ended up over-ordering based on her advice. Strangely, while the meat and fish were well cooked, every dish was over-salted. It became quite difficult finishing the meal. I'm wondering if someone in the kitchen was too heavy-handed with the salt on the day.
This was our second experience at Nopi. Planning our trip from NYC we made sure to reserve at Nopi. The food is a masterpiece in blending spices and very creative vegetarian, seafood or meat dishes. The spices add warmth to the food and bring out wonderful flavors.
Downstairs area was quite loud and boisterous; if looking for a quieter atmosphere, consider the tables on the street level. Amount of food recommended for two to order was a bit excessive, could have gotten away with two fewer plates (and we were hungry going in to the meal).
Pre theatre dinner. Delicious, excellent service. Thank you
First of all and most important: we had a lovely, highly professional and attentive waitress. A keeper!
Loved the food, the atmosphere, sharing a table. Little downside: one of our neighbors was so loud, we could clearly follow the conversation. Was quite disturbing. And the ventilation was too high, I was freezing most of the diner.
Another little problem: with the London Bridge event, we arrived 30' late. I tried to call to no avail and did not want to leave a message. The hostess did not seem very convinced but found us a table anyway.
Overall, a delicious first experience. Then on Sunday, we stopped at the Belgravia épicerie and bought a picnic to share on the Gatwick Express. We felt so spoiled.
Will come back for more. Congratulations to all the team for such a beautiful place.
Food was very nice, the downstairs table allow you to look into the kitchen which we enjoyed. Downside is that the downstairs table are in a constant draft from the ventilation. Service was rushed and twice the plates were cleared while I was still having my last bite of food.
Service was a bit slow but the food wonderful
Our first experience of eating at an Ottolenghi restaurant although I have two of his cookery books which I use often and love. The experience at Nopi was fantastic, I went with friends and we all loved it. Food, staff everything perfect.
My 3rd visit to Nopi, I live in Ireland but anytime I come to London I make a trip. it was amazing. From the welcome at the door, the service, timings, food, drinks- everything was perfect. There was a 20 min wait for our table and the hostesses/managers dealt with it beautifully- they were honest, polite and generous without being OTT. Our waiter (Jack? From Melbourne) was attentive and knew the menu well but wasn’t pushy. Absolutely amazing experience and can’t wait to be back!
Nice food and a nice place but expensive for what it is
Poor service and the staff wasn't attentive. Slow service and the staff tried to clear the table twice before we finished the meal.
My first Ottelenghi experience! Staff energised, food delicious and sharing a table meant you could either keep to yourself or engage with others which made it more interesting. Thank you so much. I was definitely not disappointed and would return again tomorrow if I could!!
Such marvelous food, attentive service and a great selection of funky skin contact wines. Been many times and it’s always a treat.
Loved the Cheesecake but slightly disappointed with the beetroot.
Still I would not hesitate to recommend a return visit.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – open space directed towards an open kitchen. The tomato and ajoblanco salad was exceptional, as well as the polenta chips. Service was well-timed and friendly.
We loved the food and the wine, I particularly like meals out when you share plates amongst everyone. The waiter was friendly and really good overall. Given the choice i would have preferred to have eaten upstairs and not been on the sharing tables. The price over all was quite expensive, maybe you should pay less if you are downstairs?
Loved the place. Food was good but not as great as I had hoped, quite basic especially as there was around 12 chefs in the kitchen and the menu is fairly small. Shame as I have all the books and was very excited to finally make it there to eat. Our waiter was exceptional. So lovely.
The food at Nopi is delicious! I like the vibe at the sharing table, with the opportunity to glance into the kitchen. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love the welcome details of complimentary water and snack. I will be back!
