The Chilean sea bass and the squash and pear soup were both outstanding. The Brussels sprouts and the poached pear dessert were both pretty good, too. The vegetarian risotto was just ok.
The ambiance, service, and location are all top notch.

The food was nicely crafted and original-you can tell there’s an awesome chef! The presentation of the food was really lovely! However it was a little bland and lacking in flavor. I would recommend a little sriaracha on the tables for convenience.

We had visited NoPa 3 years ago and it was very good, but on arriving for Sunday lunch this year and sitting down it was clear it was a totally different restaurant and the menu and ambience not at all to our liking, so we gave our apologies and left. Think its important to indicate that a restaurant has changed style and level.
We tried to book a table with Fig and Olive through you but the application wouldn't let us, so we just walked up and were pleased to get a table. That was very good and to our liking.

Went with my teenaged niece for dinner before a concert. We both found items we liked on the menu and were very happy with the curry chicken meatballs, burger and short ribs. The service was terrific as we had little time to spare. My cocktail was just okay, not exactly what I expected by that was my fault. I thought it a little too strong and not as cold as I'd like. We loved the cozy, rustic, dining atmosphere and the bar area looked like fun. I would definitely go back! It's so convenient to Capital One Arena.

I have always enjoyed my meals at Nopa so I brought a couple of our friends this time and the Steak and Fritz was a disaster my husband was so disappointed of this dish mostly of the fries! Please try to add healthy fries to this dish rather than the potatoes that were there. I had the cod and was great as always!!

Rainy day escape with family to see some museum fare and looking for a well reviewed brunch place. We were very pleasantly surprised to get a reservation at NoPa Kitchen and Bar and even more delighted by the very pleasant meal we enjoyed. The menu options weren't more than one page - and that's a good thing. The portions were just the right size and everyone enjoyed their choices. The meal was highlighted by our pleasant server, Coletta. We ate a late brunch, but were surprised how the place was not full. It deserves more attention.

Very nice atmosphere with good service. Brunch had a small menu but enough to satisfy varied tastes. Eggs benedict was excellent and Scottish eggs good as well. Our waitress was very helpful. We enjoyed the fact that the 4 of us could talk and visit in a relatively quiet atmosphere. We had reservations but didn't really need them for Sunday brunch.

Service a little overwhelming. Felt rushed the entire time I was there and they were not even that busy. Kind of obnoxious when you are trying to have a business lunch and you are constantly being interrupted.

I'm really surprised this place is never really busy when I get there -- but the brunch is great. They are on top of their mimosa refills, the food is fantastic (they have a carolina rice bowl that is delicious and not too much food + some of the best brussel sprouts I've had), and the atmosphere is not too quiet and not too loud. Plus, you're right in the middle of Chinatown. I took my parents here with my girlfriend and they loved it, would do it again.

We've had dinner at Nopa a half dozen times. We always enjoy our meal -- ambience, service, food -- but our most recent visit was a cut above. Right at the outset, the service was terrific. As we were being seated, a very large party was being seated next to us. Because large parties are often loud, we asked to be moved. The host did so promptly, with no questions asked, and was attentive to us all evening. Our new table, a banquette, provided just the ambience we wanted for a conversation among the five of us -- a quiet nook with few close neighbors. And our meal was superb, particularly inventive, and lovely on the plate. We'll certainly be back.

We dined here prior to attending an event In the area. The service was attentive and fast, while still being extremely friendly. The food was incredible, with lots of gluten free options. The only comment was that later in our meal a large, loud group came in which made it more difficult to talk comfortabley, but that did not have a major impact on the experience. Will definitely dine here again.

We took advantage of the pre-theater menu. Almost everything was delicious except for the steak, which was flavorless and somewhat tough. My friend had the ancient grains risotto and it was delicious. Service was perfect.

Seated promptly w/a reservation, however, even though the dining room had only a handful of tables w/patrons on our arrival and was less than 1/2 full upon leaving, we were seated in the very back of the restaurant next to a very busy pathway to a separate room for a private party. Waitress was lovely older lady who gave us excellent recommendations and wonderful attentive service. Spiced squash and pear soup (as recommended) was delicious. Duck liver mousse had too thick a breading for the thin layer of mousse -- much too heavy for an appetizer for 1. Chilean seabass congee was overall good -- fish was cooked to perfection, however congee pairing was too strange but edible. Crispy chicken roulade just didn't work at all. Red velvet cake for dessert was good.

Very innovative cuisine like venison carpaccio. Popovers for bread, yum. My short ribs were tender and most flavorful, and the mustard like sauce was excellent. My husband's chicken wrapped in its own skin with vegs was also outstanding. Conveniently located to metro, near spy museum and across the street from the National Portrait gallery. Huge windows give onto quiet street at night.
Altogether a fine dining experience.

Absolutely delicious. Great view, service, and ambience. Very french bistro, so good for business or personal. Seasonal, fresh menu with something for a everyone. Loved this so much for lunch that I went back for dinner. Will be visiting again, as I cannot wait to see how the menu changes with the seasons. Was shocked that this place was not absolutely packed, but make a reservation just in case.

It was good, not great. Waitress spilled a drink on my date's purse and didn't bring anything to clean up for about 10 minutes which is unacceptable in my opinion. It was an accident but little was done to fix the situation. After that, she was hard to find to get any additional food or drinks so we just found someone to close us out and left. Other than the drink spill issue, the food was OK and the drinks were OK. Nothing to write home about, honestly. Given the number of other great local places, I probably won't see any reason to return.

This is a high end menu without high end pricing. That doesn't mean they are cheap, far from it. But not outrageous. And the food is excellent. The menu changes with the season and is interesting and well described by an excellent staff.

It was great. We ordered the peach manhattans which were perfect. The deviled eggs and the shrimp apps were wonderful. The skate (a little salty) and the short ribs were to die for. And the dark chocolate pot de creame and the maple roasted kabocha desserts were phenomenal. A great place for a date or special occasion. Stephanie, the pastry chef, really knows what she is about.

Went for an intimate birthday celebration with the girlfriend on a week night. Skipped the happy hour and splurged a little. We had the brussels vegetable side (chili and peanut sauce) for an appetizer--very tasty. The cocktails, especially the holy mole, were a delight. I had the pork while the gf had the chicken and both were presented and tasted perfectly. On a tip from a friend we saved room for the fried apple pie with bourbon ice cream--not overly rich or sweet but flawless. Service was attentive but not burdensome and they comped both the dessert and some sparkling wine for both of us, because of the birthday. Certainly the most memorable dining experience I've had in some time, I heartily recommend this to anyone considering.

NOPA is a pleasant, reliable place with an interesting menu. I always sit in the light-filled bar which features large windows facing the National Portrait Gallery and the Kimpton Monaco Hotel. The menu is easy and approachable, with a good mix of small plates and regular entrees. The bar setting is comfortable and relaxed. Service sometimes could be a bit more attentive.

Although this restaurant was recommended by a business associate of mine, I found the service very disorganized and a bit slow. As for the food, I ALWAYS ORDER my steak rare, and can't believe the these higher end restaurants don't know how to cook steaks RARE. Mine was Medium well (pink inside), and not even medium rare!!!

Due to the fact we had a concert to attend at 7:30, and the very slow service I did only eat half my meal, and the waiter comped only our after dinner coffee for slow service.

I was trying to find ANY restaurant near the Cap One Center so we could have drinks and food before the Bruno Mars concert. Nopa was my 13th choice of calling and checking for reservations. I was pressured and accepted it without having heard of it or dined there. It turned out to be the best experience ever. Our server Anan was amazing, attentive and humorous. The other service team members were wonderful. I would highly recommend this Restaurant for any and every occasion. In the future, it will be my first choice.

We were greeted promptly and our waiter was friendly; however, the cocktail service was very slow. We each ordered the sea bass; however, it was surprisingly dry and there was way too much sauce. Chilean sea bass is a personal favorite of mine, and I am accustomed to having it served more moist and tender. Also, we were sipping sparkling water along with our cocktails. Without asking, a table server brought another large bottle of sparkling water to our table and topped off our already 3/4 full glasses. Of course this bottle was added to our tab although we didn't consume it or request it. When guests are drinking complimentary "still" water, it's customary for the staff to top off the glasses without request or prompting; however, when patrons are purchasing bottles of sparkling water, it is customary for the server to ask if they are interested in another bottle. If asked, we would have declined as we were rushing to an event at the Capital One Center.

We booked a pre-concert table for 6 at 6:30 pm - and let them know we were attending a concert that evening. We arrive about on time and were seated promptly when the restaurant was half empty. We did not take too long to order and we got our drinks and appetizers in a reasonable amount of time. However, after asking our waiter where our entrees were at 7:40 pm several times - and he told us each time they were coming "right out" - we did not get them until about 30 minutes later. I was particularly annoyed as the waiter made sure our table ordered that second bottle of wine as we waited and waited. As we arrived when the restaurant was not busy at all, I thought it was ridiculous to be there nearly 2 hours when many restaurants want to turn tables over in 1 hour and 15 minutes these days (and make you agree to that when you make a reservation). The food was good enough but not as great as the reviews led me to believe (we are very discerning diners). In spite of the wonderful location near the Capital One Arena, we will not be back.

We chose this restaurant pre-theater (Ford's Theater) primarily for the proximity, and were charmed. Elegant setting, great cocktails, attentive server, very good fresh food. Energetic vibe, but not so noisy we couldn't carry on a conversation easily. Excellent choice pre-theater or Verizon Center event.

Met a friend here for lunch; my first time at NOPA. From greeting to departure, meal was a true pleasure. Had the squash and pear soup which was spicy and warm, perfect for early fall. The the steak salad which was more steak than salad, just the way I like it. Cooked perfectly medium rare, just what I ordered. My next meeting was two hours after our late lunch and they were perfectly happy to have me sit there and catch up on emails via their excellent wifi while I enjoyed coffee and iced teas. Yes, I will very much be back. That it was a superb experience considering the pedigree of the place. Go there; you won't be disappointed.

This was my first time to eat at NoPa. We booked for 5:30 p.m. to avoid the later dining hours which tend to be very noisy in most DC restaurants. Three of us chose the Pre-Fixe menu and one person a la carte (lobster). The chicken meat balls on a bed of lentils were delicious. The salad offered on the fixed menu was the best salad my husband has had in a DC restaurant. Two of our party ordered the steak/frites and found the beef tasty and the portions quite generous. I ordered the multi-grain risotto. Very tasty, but too filling after the starter course. For dessert we all had poached pears which were subtly spiced. We all agreed this was a great find, especially for pre-theatre at the Lansburgh, the Shakespeare Theatre or Woolly Mammoth.
