beautiful service, delicious... truly delicious food. This is one of the best places in town.
Delicious food, lovely setting, gracious , friendly service. Our brunch was wonderful, looking forward to trying it for dinner soon.
we really enjoyed our nite out here! The chef came out to our table himself and greeted us and told us where to get wine. BYOB! nice surprise!! Curried seafood was DELISH, my cod dish was good but a little soupy. the grilled bread is TO DIE FOR!! Definitely coming back again! even the valet parking was friendly and convenient.
We first went to Noord in September of last year and absolutely loved everything. We returned for the first time this past Saturday. The owner/chef greeted us and was nice and seated us right away. It took a bit for the waiter to come to our table. It appeared that he was the only server (with 2 support staff) for the whole place.
The server was gracious, fun, attentive (when available).
We had the mustard soup for appetizer which was out of this world. The scallop on top was quite salty. I don't eat bread, so I wasn't able to offset it with bread.
I had the scallop entree which came with a salad on the plate and what was basically egg salad. The food was, I am sorry to say, just OK. Again the scallops were salty.
My companion ordered the cod which I didn't try but she sent it back as it was too salty. She ordered the prawns appetizer at that point for an entree, which she said was very good but salty. She ate it anyway.
The location is special on the corner with two walls of windows and the staff and owner so so much to make one happy that we will be back, but please, lighten up on the salt!
Attentive service and fabulous menu. The friendly atmosphere and unique menu are the ingredients for a wonderful evening. Went on a warm evening and had a table by the open window so the vibrant neighborhood was a nice backdrop.
This was my second visit to Noord. What I remembered from my first, a couple years ago, was the bread, the tastiness, the great service and the reasonable portions. On this visit I did scarf down a ton of bread and enjoyed my hefty entrees delivered by a lovely wait staff, but the food was so unbelievably salty that it did leave me second guessing my undying love for Noord. Salt shouldn't be the first thing I taste when I bite into something. I had a cod special and my husband, who also found his to be too salty, had the rabbit. Competition is steep in this town and I don't have a ton of cash to drop on fancy meals, so I'm sad to say this may not be my first pick for my next special night out.
Once again, another wonderful dining experience at Noord. Everything, is perfect.
Our visit was prompted by my wife's memory of meals in Holland several years ago. There are not many Dutch restaurants to be found. This is a BYOB storefront in a trending neighborhood. Our greeting upon entering was prompt and friendly. The menu is not extensive but there was no trouble finding appealing alternatives. The hostess and servers were personable and engaging with good knowledge of the menu. Have no trouble recommending this to anyone for both a genuine Philadelphia and northern Europe experience.
Amazing food and service. Knowledgable and friendly staff. Will come back again many times.
Our first time at Restaurant Noord. The food and service were beyond expectations. A totally fabulous dining experience and look forward to returning soon! Highly recommend.
Noord's brunch was unbelivable. Amazing, unique dishes at great prices for Philly restaurants. The Chef personally told us the specials, made chit chat with us and brought me a delicious birthday waffle cookie and molasses treat with candle! The food is amazing, the bottomless french press coffee is fantastic and the service goes beyond expectations. My only regret is that I didn't come here sooner!
Noord has one of the most unique and inventive menus in Philly. It is an intimate and vibrant setting with the chef often on the floor. Simply one of our favorite restaurants.
My partner and I ate here for our anniversary. The service and food were equally fantastic. The dessert, wow!
Always a great experience here. Food is top notch and Lewis, our server, took fantastic care of us and added a lot of fun to our evening.
Wonderful as always
Lewis are waiter was excellent!
A wonderful BYOB. Food you can't find anywhere. Try the smorbrod.
Only problem is parking, particularly mid-week. The only nearby lot is always filled; we ended up 4 blocks away. On weekends there is neighborhood valet parking.
We've been to Noord for dinner but this was first for Sunday Brunch. It was FABULOUS. The Chef/owner Joncarl actually comes to every table to tell them the specials and then goes back to cook. The bread is to die for. It';s BYOB.
The day we were there there was a group of 12 (or 14) young women (college age) having an Easter themed brunch. They took about half the seats and - of course - were noisy. It is not a great room for quiet conversation. But John Carl apologized a few times for the extra noise. He cares.
I'm almost afraid to tell folks about Noord for fear that we won't be able to get in again.
The food was exceptionally good. Our family met there for brunch on a Sunday and everything was delicious. The prices were reasonable and they took reservations. Everyone was very friendly and nice. We would definitely go there again.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Service was excellent as well. This place is truly a gem.
I have been to Noord before and loved it! So I am glad to say that it’s still outstanding. We ordered appetizers to share and we had a dessert and everything was delicious!
I had a wonderful dinner at Noord on St. Patrick's Day, to celebrate a birthday! We were there right when the restaurant opened at 5:00pm and enjoyed talking to the staff. They recommended the Bottle Shop on Passyunk to BYOB. The food at Noord was delicious, creative, and authentically European. The ambience is chic and the place is well-decorated. We enjoyed the entire experience and will definitely recommend to friends!
I had never heard of Noord but I was looking for something different in South Philly.
Excellent dinner, some interesting dishes, and great service.
Great food , Great Staff, Great Experience.
The best east passyunk has to offer. From appetizers to coffee and dessert it was a five star experience.
First visit to NOORD’s last night during restaurant week. I must say I don’t usually go out for restaurant week because I feel like restaurant’s throw the food at you during that week. I was pleasantly surprised the food was excellent as was the service. Our server Luis was attentive but not over bearing. Will definitely be back.
Food was good! Service was AMAZING! Honestly, the gentleman serving was one of, if not the best server we’ve ever had.
dear food diary
tonight i had an amazing dinner at Noord. the stars of the evening were louis who gives parisian double kisses, jon carl with his nordic bear hugs and of course the food!
whenever i dine there with my husband, i always feel like it is date night. romantic with the velvet drapes that coquettishly keep the cold out, dimly lit dining area and the low level sounds of other diners.
what is not to love; perfectly pickled vegetables, char grilled warm bread, amazing dishes exuding comfort topped with the offerings of delicious desserts and all can be accompanied by your favorite wines that you bring yourself!
The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful. The menu was quite unique . The food was really interesting and delicious. We look forward to returning to try more menu items.
Outstanding from beginniing to end. Imaginative food and creative blend of flavors. Service was informative and helpful. Dined here for East Passyunk restaurant week. Definitely will return
Excellent inventive food. Limited menu for restaurant week but we will be back!
We went there for the east Passyunk restaurant week. This was our second time there. The Brussels sprout was the perfect start. The salmon was excellent, my wife had it and she just loved it. Finally the icing on the cake was the botterKoek (butter cake), which was delicious. Luis was amazing, very attentive to all our needs and just a joy to talk to. We will definitely be back.
Lewis was the highlight of our evening. He is such a genuine man with so much charisma. The owner personally brought out a free (extra) 2nd course that we were debating because we had to wait a little for our table (not their fault at all) and extra desert. I can not rave about the delicate flavor balance of this well crafter meal and the extrodinary service we received tonight. Hands down my favorite resturaunt in town and now my dad's favorite place too. Thank you so much.
Everything was excellent. Good was great. Service was great. They even made my leftovers into a swan! Can’t wait to go back.
We went for restaurant week. It was good that we made reservations, because when we arrived, the table that was held for us was the only open table. The food was a little unique and wonderful. Our waiter was just the right amount of attentive, and very helpful. The atmosphere was nice. When we first arrived, the noise level was just a little high, but enough to not to prevent a conversation. Overall an excellent experience that I have already recommended to friends.
Once again Noord and chef/owner Joncarl did a magnificent job of serving a great meal in a very friendly manner. The food is always wonderful and the service is outstanding, Luis lives up to his reputation. Additionally the staff is always accommodating to our vegetarian friends.
Absolutely amazing experience once again! We happened to stop in during restaurant week, which had great options to choose from...definitely not limited. We both started with the bitterballen. Love the mustard that accompanies these Dutch pork meatballs. We branched out for the second course ordering the striped bass with mussels for two...whoa! The fish literally melted in your mouth. The layering of flavors between the mussels, delicious sauce and roasted vegetables made for one our favorite dishes to date. Can’t say enough great things about this place from the food to everyone you interact with from the moment you enter the restaurant.
Not only is Noord friendly and welcoming, the food is fabulous. And its a BYO which is also great. Look forward to coming back!
Went there for restaurant week and the experience was fantastic! The waiter, Luis, was wonderful! He assisted my boyfriend and I with food choices and was very friendly and charming. The chefs went out of their way to create a special dish for my boyfriend who had food allergies. They were so accommodating! Every course served was excellent! Would definitely recommend for a date night. Can't wait to go back to this beautiful restaurant!
Wonderful food; considerate and knowledgeable service. Great dinner.
