Nonnina Ratings and Reviews
Great wine list, polite attentive friendly service, nice variety of traditional Italian but with variations and specials. Romantic with no overwhelming music or bar TVs to spoil conversation (but does get lively when busy). Medium priced for downtown Chicago but fair value equal to the food offerings. First time but would go back with friends
This was my first time trying Nonnina's which was such a great experience to celebrate my birthday. The staff were all so friendly. The drinks were amazing. The Food... omg! De-lici-ous!!! Authentic Italian... my favorite Cuisine. We tried the famous Timpano... what's another word for wow, amazing, flavorful and tasty. I was truly happy with my restaurant choice to celebrate such a wonderful day. A must repeat. Definitely one of my new favorites.
My husband and I end our long weekend downtown during Restaurant Week at Nonnina every year. Couldn't end on a better note than lunch here. Food is made fresh, pasta is absolutely delicious, can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Staff is so friendly, such a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere to dine in. It's a must visit spot!
Love Nonnina! As an Italian, I'm very picky about an authentic Italian meal - and this does not disappoint! Everything is delicious and perfectly flavorful. There are many Italian restaurants in the city, but I prefer this over most. Look forward to going back again soon!
This restaurant is truly a gem! When you consider the superb quality of the food, the beautiful decor and the excellent wine list, that would generally be enough to compel anyone to return again and again. But what really sets Nonnina apart is the impeccable service...including the Manager Ricardo, Juan, Leo, Jose and all of the support staff. They find out your every wish and need and make them happen, and they always do it in record time and with a smile. When my husband and our guest left Noninna the other night, we thought we had spent an evening in Florence in some ways, but with beautiful views of downtown Chicago just outside the door. So just like the song, Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's (Nonnina in Italian) house we go...I would only add, don't just go to Nonnina--run. You won't be disappointed.
Underwhelming Italian food. I've had good Italian, and this place was okay. The bread was good, but it seemed like everyone at the table (6 of us) were left with only satisfactory feelings. I will say the Fritto Misto (Fried Calimari and others) was the best. The other main dishes we had were subpar.
Dinner was delicious. Hubby had Restaurant Week special which was a great deal. Wait staff was very attentive. Server even brought over a box which had the various pasta types to explain the differences and the dishes which accompanied them. A truly enjoyable evening at the restaurant!
Our reservation was honored exactly for when it was booked. All of the waitstaff and host/hostesses were very polite and professional. The food was delivered in a timely manner and the cocktails were outstanding. I highly recommend Nonnia and we will certainly be back.
DEEEEEE-LICIOUS!!!!!!!!! The food was fantastic. All the appetizers were yummy (prosciutto, bruschetta, meat balls, arancini). The spaghetti carbonara was out of this world. Disappointingly, the tiramisu was absolutely terrible. BUT - the chocolate mousse was excellent. I would 1000% go back to try other dishes. Eat there! :)
The menu provided selections to meet everyone's preference for the evening. We shared a bottle of wine from their extensive and impressive wine list that was enjoyed by all. The staff and management were very attentive and well trained to provide their guests will a quality dining experience. We look forward to returning our next trip to Chicago.
