Location raffinata, peccato per le persone particolarmente rumorose al tavolo vicino
Cibo un po' troppo speziato
Very good food and a nice wine selection. The Manager was great. He made an excellent wine suggestion based on the tastes of the group and he also arranged for a "family style" tasting of several pasta dishes that our group was interested in. A very good experience overall.
The only drawback was how long it took our food to come out. The restaurant was busy, so I'm sure that factored into it, but it took over 2 hours from the time we arrived to when the bill came. Regardless, I will definitely go back and recommend to others.
Food and service were excellent.
Not worth the $$. A lot of better Italian spots in the area.
I love it here. It’s one of the first places I ate when I moved to the city and it’s been spectacular every time since. The food is great, service is great and attentive, and the atmosphere is lovely.
I loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious! It was reasonable price wise and I would definitely go back and recommend to my friends.
Carbonara was excellent, ravioli needed a little more flavor
My daughter’s 15th birthday. We asked for a single candle and low profile good wishes. What a wonderful meal and perfect experience (we were visiting just for the weekend). The waiter was excellent - attentive, informative, and had such a warm, welcoming vibe. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name, but I do remember he was from Spain. We also ordered off the menu and it was incredible!
First time in Chicago and this Italian gem did not disappoint. Service was top notch and so was the food. Classy but also casual. Great experience!
It was date night and we decided to try Nonnina's for dinner. We ordered the arancini for our appetizers.
My husband had the pasta carbonara flavorful, and delicious. I had spinach ribbon pasta, mushrooms over dried tomato, asparagus, and garlic. The toppings worked together beautifully. For dessert we had panna cotta with raspberry sauce. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit
We were given the table right in front, almost at the door, and every time the door opened cold air would hit us. We made this reservation weeks ago and I felt like they gave us their last table. The wait staff was very efficient and ready to please, thank you. The food was excellent. I wish there would have been more fish dishes to choose from. We ordered the special which was the sea bass and it was very good.
Great menu and friendly staff. Went for a date night dinner before heading to Chicago Theater down the road. Would definitely return.
Highly recommend! Great Italian cuisine with a beautiful ambiance. Good prices and high quality food...new favorite restaurant in Chicago!
Love seeing Alfredo again and service was excellent
My husband and I went to dinner at Nonnina before a play we were attending downtown. I realized once I got there that I was supposed to specifically print out the tickets to the show and couldn't use my phone to enter. We kindly asked our waitress who got the manager Alfredo involved to see if they could help. He ended up printing out our tickets in their office and delivering them to our table in an envelope for us. We were so thankful of this service and this was ON TOP of an outstanding meal before our show! We will definitely return!
One of my favorite places in River North as the food and service is great
Excellent food and service. The patio was lit and empty, so the view was odd. Table was crowded for 4 people.
Lovely restaurant with wonderful food and service. In particular, the Branzino Oregonata is always amazing!
We went to Nonnina for a team dinner while at a conference. Two of us ordered the Veal Marsala which was one of the specials but what we got seemed more like a Veal Piccata because it was very lemony and had enormous capers, no mushrooms or typical Marsala savory sauce. Two others in our party ordered the Short Rib special which they said was pretty good, the meat was a little bit more fat than meat for their taste but the squash puree that accompanied it was delicious. The fifth in our party ordered the Scottish Salmon and he said it was quite tasty. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable when I let him know I had a dairy allergy.
The food was great but I wish our staff would’ve paid a little attention to detail. For instance making sure the table candle was lit up without us having to remind them, the bread was replenished on time without multiple reminders. Otherwise we had a really nice time.
The antipasto was superb! Best sopressata we had ever had! Another plus was the “appetizer plate “ of pasta. I could have my Gluten Free & my date a totally different one. As we were traveling, no leftovers is a plus! The surprise limoncello bought out afterwards was a really classy touch!
My husband and I went to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. The food was great, the service was great. The drinks were excellent! I would definitely recommend Nonnina.
Thank you enjoyed
Excellent food! The lobster risotto was fantastic.
Staff was excellent food was delicious what more could anyone want. I was on a business dinner. However would come back with my wife and have a lovely dinner and evening
Great food, attentive staff. Our server was a bit gruff but all other support staff and management were great. Quiet, beautiful ambience.
We went for my birthday with my husband and toddler son. It was wonderful and food was great! The maitre D and wait staff were so wonderful and treated us like the most important people in the place. We had an incredible bottle of Amarone, had the special in-bone fillet and a lobster pasta that was delicious. Wonderful and will be back again.
Nonnina was recommended by the concierge at the Westin North. I high-fived her the next day. If I wanted an authentic Italian dinner, this is where I would go. They treated us like family. It's a very relaxed dining experience - if you want in and out, go somewhere else. If you want a wonderful, relaxed dinner and excellent food, then Nonnina is a great choice. We were almost doted on by our waitress, the Maitre D' and the General Manager. My granddaughter and I split Duck Ragu and Lobster fra Diavolo. Both were outstanding! Fresh pasta, fresh vegetables, excellent sauce and a nice wine to complement. I probably would not order Duck Ragu but the Maitre D' told me it was his favorite dish and I soon found out why. Outstanding! I would definitely order again. Nonnina will be a must-go restaurant for us whenever we are in Chicago.
We were a party of eight and had theater tickets. Also, four from our party live in Australia. We never felt rushed yet they got us out quickly so we had time to walk over to our play. Food was delicious. We ordered everything from fish, pasta, steak and salads.
Excellent food... the Amatriciana was one of the best I've had since Italy. Every one of the 8 people in our party loved the food and ambience. It's a lovely restaurant where you can have a conversation without shouting and the service is excellent. Highly recommend it.
The food was terrible.
Server was outstanding, food was delicious and our experience was great- a couple of out of town people trying new places😁
Attentive service, casual atmosphere, great food.
Overall we liked the place, the food is good and ambiance is nice too, good energy . The service was ok, nothing bad just timing was a bit off. We got offered the desert menu while we were still busy eating our main dish.
We waited 45 minutes to get seated at our table, but service at the bar was excellent. For the remainder of our meal, food was good but the service was quite poor. Our server took another 15 minutes to come take our dinner order but nobody can to refill our water - not once throughout the entire meal even though multiple glasses sat empty.
Bread comes out to the table quickly but does not get warmed up apparently.
Chicken parmesan was fine and nothing special; not worth $27. Ravioli was al dente and too chewy; made us think it was probably frozen.
Our server was excellent, friendly, and attentive. Only good part of the dinner experience.
I made a reservation and when we arrived, we were asked to wait for the table to be made ready. We then watched the host give our nice circular booth table away to a woman who didn't have a reservation but kept bothering and complaining to the host and hostess about getting a table immediately. We were given a table in the back of the enclosed patio, which was very noisy.
Cocktails were good.
Everything was good except that it was impossible to have a conversation because the acoustics of the place is terrible and the restaurant was full with people talking at the same time so I could not hear my friend who was sitting in front of me !
Fabulous as always fresh homemade pastas are a real treat. We had the brazino (sea bass) special which was absolutely delicious. The manger and our waiter were very attentive even though it was quite busy on Marathon Weekend. Dining noise was loud out on the patio, but ambiance was great.
The food and the service was fabulous. The quality of the food was outstanding, all home made pasta. I had the Zuppa diMare and it was perfect. My lady had a pasta dish that was great as well. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Nice Job Noninna
