The Capital Grille - Chicago - Downtown
The food was great but I wish our staff would’ve paid a little attention to detail. For instance making sure the table candle was lit up without us having to remind them, the bread was replenished on time without multiple reminders. Otherwise we had a really nice time.
The antipasto was superb! Best sopressata we had ever had! Another plus was the “appetizer plate “ of pasta. I could have my Gluten Free & my date a totally different one. As we were traveling, no leftovers is a plus! The surprise limoncello bought out afterwards was a really classy touch!
My husband and I went to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. The food was great, the service was great. The drinks were excellent! I would definitely recommend Nonnina.
Thank you enjoyed
Excellent food! The lobster risotto was fantastic.
Staff was excellent food was delicious what more could anyone want. I was on a business dinner. However would come back with my wife and have a lovely dinner and evening
Great food, attentive staff. Our server was a bit gruff but all other support staff and management were great. Quiet, beautiful ambience.
Nonnina was recommended by the concierge at the Westin North. I high-fived her the next day. If I wanted an authentic Italian dinner, this is where I would go. They treated us like family. It's a very relaxed dining experience - if you want in and out, go somewhere else. If you want a wonderful, relaxed dinner and excellent food, then Nonnina is a great choice. We were almost doted on by our waitress, the Maitre D' and the General Manager. My granddaughter and I split Duck Ragu and Lobster fra Diavolo. Both were outstanding! Fresh pasta, fresh vegetables, excellent sauce and a nice wine to complement. I probably would not order Duck Ragu but the Maitre D' told me it was his favorite dish and I soon found out why. Outstanding! I would definitely order again. Nonnina will be a must-go restaurant for us whenever we are in Chicago.
We were a party of eight and had theater tickets. Also, four from our party live in Australia. We never felt rushed yet they got us out quickly so we had time to walk over to our play. Food was delicious. We ordered everything from fish, pasta, steak and salads.
Excellent food... the Amatriciana was one of the best I've had since Italy. Every one of the 8 people in our party loved the food and ambience. It's a lovely restaurant where you can have a conversation without shouting and the service is excellent. Highly recommend it.
The food was terrible.
Server was outstanding, food was delicious and our experience was great- a couple of out of town people trying new places😁
Attentive service, casual atmosphere, great food.
Overall we liked the place, the food is good and ambiance is nice too, good energy . The service was ok, nothing bad just timing was a bit off. We got offered the desert menu while we were still busy eating our main dish.
We waited 45 minutes to get seated at our table, but service at the bar was excellent. For the remainder of our meal, food was good but the service was quite poor. Our server took another 15 minutes to come take our dinner order but nobody can to refill our water - not once throughout the entire meal even though multiple glasses sat empty.
Bread comes out to the table quickly but does not get warmed up apparently.
Chicken parmesan was fine and nothing special; not worth $27. Ravioli was al dente and too chewy; made us think it was probably frozen.
Our server was excellent, friendly, and attentive. Only good part of the dinner experience.
I made a reservation and when we arrived, we were asked to wait for the table to be made ready. We then watched the host give our nice circular booth table away to a woman who didn't have a reservation but kept bothering and complaining to the host and hostess about getting a table immediately. We were given a table in the back of the enclosed patio, which was very noisy.
Cocktails were good.
Everything was good except that it was impossible to have a conversation because the acoustics of the place is terrible and the restaurant was full with people talking at the same time so I could not hear my friend who was sitting in front of me !
Fabulous as always fresh homemade pastas are a real treat. We had the brazino (sea bass) special which was absolutely delicious. The manger and our waiter were very attentive even though it was quite busy on Marathon Weekend. Dining noise was loud out on the patio, but ambiance was great.
The food and the service was fabulous. The quality of the food was outstanding, all home made pasta. I had the Zuppa diMare and it was perfect. My lady had a pasta dish that was great as well. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Nice Job Noninna
Food was excellent but the service was extremely slow (but friendly)
I ALWAYS HAVE A GREAT EXPERIENCE HERE. GREAT FOOD!
Wonderful food and service!
We loved the food and had a really great time. It definitely has an urban feel and was packed! Love the location and will definitely go again next time we’re in Chicago.
Friends out of too
Terrific spot for excellent, traditional Italian food in a comfortable atmosphere. Food is reliable and service excels.
Happy Hour ends at 7, tasty drinks, warm and welcoming service. Casual vibe, attentive service food was delicious and a variety of choices.
Everything but the Lasagna was perfect. The offending dish was dry and tasted stale. Never happened here before. Will try again.
Service is excellent, everyone makes you feel welcome and special. The food is delicious, good wine choices.
Service was superb. Very attentive and thoughtful. Food was excellent. Best pasta we’ve had in a long time. Our ambiance and noise was perfect bc we were the only ones on the patio! A real gem.
A local gem with the pedigree of Picolo Sogno! Convenient to city dwellers but not known to conventioneers. Great for an after work dinner nd drinks.
Quality ingredients and homemade cooking is evident here. The whole experience from food to service to ambience is top quality.
Love this place! Truly great Northern style Italian food - authentic!! Their servers are some of the best in the city. The host - Davide' - personable - makes everyone feel like they are truly welcomed - a refreshing change from the many of hosts/hostesses that probably shouldn't even be in the restaurant business!!
Highly recommended. if you love Piccolo Sognio you will love this place by the awesome duo Tony and Ciro.
Nice, quiet setting for an early dinner with unfussy, classic Italian dishes and a terrific dessert list.
Overpriced, and everything was way too salty. Add some vegetable dishes to the menu.
Great reliable spot
This was our first visit to the restaurant. The food and service were outstanding. Great prices and value. Everything is homeade.
Very nice evening with good food at a reasonable price
The disappointment I have after our dining experience is astonishing. The reviews were promising, so we thought we would go for an authentic Italian meal. From the moment we sat down, it became less promising. We were sat in the back corner of the restaurant, out of sight. It took 10 minutes for the waiter to come to the table. Finally get to talk to the server and just get our orders in. 2 glasses of wine and 2 entrees. Nothing complicated. Then came the wait... The table next to us had 6 people. They were eating appetizers when we down. They had 2 more courses before our food even came out. In the mean time, a party of 10 was seated behind us and got drinks and apps before we got our entrees. When our entrees did arrive after 40 min of waiting, the waiter put them down and took off like the Tasmanian Devil. (Guess we didn't want parmesan cheese or more water). Boy, was it not worth the wait. My friend's lasagna was the smallest portion of lasagna I have ever see, roughly 4"x4" and only an inch thick. What a shame. My ravioli were not only cold, they were extremely undercooked, borderline raw. We were both extremely disappointed in our meals, while every large party around us was having a grand time with personal service and, frankly, what looked to be much better entrees. To top it off, my friend was seated under an air conditioning vent that dripped on her numerous times. Disgusting. Unless you have a party of 6 or more, I would avoid going here. What a disappointment. Nevertheless it shall not cloud the judgment of my first time in Chicago!
Enjoyed peach salad, squid ink pasta with seafood and little cannoli for dessert. This restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel. We found it recommended on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. In addition to the delicious food, the service was excellent. Pacing was just right, service was attentive but not annoying. I would definitely go back here.
