We would love to hear your feedback on your experience.
We had reservations and were seated on time. The waiter seemed like he had a lot of tables but was abrupt and didn’t honor our requests for the heater to be on or more water please. He also brought the wrong entree and no one walked by or checked on us for the entire time it took for us to finish the dinner. (My husband did not want to get up and find someone to talk to about the problem in the middle of dinner as the entree was tasty). No one came to check if we wanted more wine, dessert, coffee, or anything else. Our waited plunked down the check and left. We then got up to find someone to bring us boxes to pack up our leftovers and then ordered coffee (not sure why we even bothered, but they offered) and then brought a new check with the coffee added, but there was no one to say, “thanks for dining with us” or even to act like we weren’t putting them out by paying them to eat there. We previously had fabulous service on a Friday evening a month ago and, after this experience, will definitely not be back.
I LOVE this place, I discovered it 2 weeks ago and have been to it twice already. The food is fabulous and the server are very courteous. Highly recommend. great ambiance in the back patio area.
The service was ok, and the food was delicious. However, the dishes are small, and does not justifies the high prices.
Fantastic place for great food and relaxing. Allowed us to wait for third in our party, while providing bread and drinks. Rigatoni was best entree!
Really delicious fresh pasta. Service was amazing without being annoying. Food and service seemed authentic to this first generation Italian-American from NY.
We made reservations for 7 and were seated promptly when we arrived. Our waiter Nunzio was great! Noise was not too bad, you could hold a conversation at the table without having to raise your voice!
Very good food overall. The margarita pizza tastes a little off but good nonetheless. Best raviolis of my life! The outside atmosphere is very nice.
We had the large appetizer which was delicious and we also had the tiaramisu which was the best we’ve ever had. We will definitely be going back to Nonna’s the Next time we are in town.
The veal and the calamari were over cooked and chewy.
I expected much more based on website. Had Mahi-mahi and side of pasta. It was so salty I couldn’t stand it. Atmosphere nothing special. Waiter was ok but not overly accommodating.
Food was delicious. We had the fettuccini with squid ink and shrimp and carbonara along with tiramisu and chocolate cheesecake. Customer service was good. Waiters were helpful and answered our questions about the menu. Parking was just the issue in that area.
Food was exceptional and service was great. Outdoor seating was wonderful
The food was fantastic and the wait staff was great as well.
This restaurant used to be my go to place when it was Cafe Rustica. Something has changed. The food was OK, but the restaurant is so loud now that we left with tinnitus. We arrived fairly early and ordered the Lamb shank special and 25 minutes later found out they only had enough portions left for 2 of 3 of the plates we ordered. Something has also changed at the Zucchero dessert counter. The desserts used to be inspired. Now they are lackluster - like something I could get at Vons supermarket. The espresso was served cold and for some strange reason it came with tiny plastic spoons. The server was attentive. Bottom line, I need a new go-to Italian restaurant. I am sorry Busalacchi family, you have gone and ruined something good. Bring back the old Cafe Rustica, put the wall back in, add some tapestries or other noise mitigation measures.
Found this great little gem back in Nov 2018. Loved it so much I booked a reservation for this past Easter Sunday while back in town. The food is fantastic. The lasagna is what Grandma would make for dinner if she stayed with you. Full of meat sauce, a creamy bechamel, and just enough cheese. The dessert window is a must-order. The cannolis come in a variety of styles, including pistachio, chocolate, lemon, and a couple of others. They are all “can’t miss”. Numerous cakes, cookies, and other sweet treats will delight as well.
My visit this time had a very serious service issue, due to some factors that created a very hectic and disappointing start to the evening. However, when it was brought to management’s attention, deepest apologies were offered, no excuses given, and the situation was made right; well enough that they are serious about keeping a returning patron (too many great restaurants in Little Italy to not retain patrons). Overall, a fabulous experience for the second time, which will lead to a third visit upon the next trip to San Diego this summer.
We went for Easter with visiting family members. The employees all go out of their way to make you comfortable. The food was excellent. Everyone was happy with their meal. Sat on the back patio which was very nice.
Too much oil in the food
This place is truly special. Lots of history here - the Busalacchis are one of the original families to establish fine Italian dining in Dan Diego. Owner Joe Busalacchi himself was working the door the night we visited, and started us off with a wonderful, warm family welcome. The food was outstanding - and the bolognese ragu (which appears on several dishes) especially so. Everything from antipasto to cannoli was delicious. If you are looking for great food in Little Italy, this is the real deal!
First time there. Friendly atmosphere, good food, good service.
Awesome. Best Chicken Marsala ever! Excellent service. This restaurant runs like a well oiled machine!!
Made a reservation through open table to celebrate my birthday and they didn’t do anything for it or even acknowledge it. Our table was next to the bus boy area so it was sooo noisy and ridiculous. Not a good place to celebrate anything, I made the reservation days in advance so that I would have a good birthday and it was truly lacking. The food was good but service left much to be desired.
2nd time here was a big disappointment. Burreta salad was served spoiled and rancid. We won't be back
Food was excellent. We sat on the back patio which was very pretty and felt like a dining room. They were able to seat us a little earlier than our reservation which was nice.
Nonna's doesn't disappoint! Loved the ravioli and my kids enjoyed their pizza. Great service.
We really enjoyed our dinner! The wait staff were pleasant and made sure we had everything. The arancini was delicious! My daughter enjoyed her gnocchis and while my dish was delicious I found my tortellinis just swimming in the pesto sauce. That’s probably just a personal preference along with preferring pine nuts to almonds in my pesto. Otherwise it was a great eating experience.
I had high expectations given the latest article in SD Magazine. But everything about this place was “meh”.
Great food and service. Loved the artichoke sppetizer
Good food, large portions, Excellent service and reasonably priced. We will be back.
Celebrated my daughters 19th birthday. It was suppose to be a surprise which I mentioned several times as the reservation number kept changing, but when we checked in the lady at the desk said your entire party is here.....
Surprise blown, but the food was great as always and the service was good as well. Good have been a bit more attentive, but for a group of 15 it was terrific.
Our server Fabio was incredible.
Menu on website was outdated. I wanted a sandwich and none were available. We were the only table until another family arrived and ruined our lunch. Kid screamed, kicked, hit and bellowed throughout our visit. Nothing was done.
Would not come back.
The wait staff was great and the food was made per my request and was spot on with flavor, texture and presentation. A real keeper and it is great for any event you want to do.
Great place to take the family for lunch or dinner!
Food was excellent! Very noisy and upbeat restaurant. Not recommended for quiet dinner.
It was great for our Valentine’s Day dinner. My wife fell in love with everything about this place, and so did I.
Fantastic service, delicious food, lovely place!
We will absolutely go back soon!!
Food choices were quite extensive including vegetarian options. Waiter was friendly. Service a bit strange as they brought us our entrees right after they brought our appetizer- not what you would expect in an Italian restaurant. So if you want to dine in a leisurely fashion I suppose you need to tell them to space out the courses.
Phenomenal food and service. Perfect Valentine’s Day getaway
We went on Valentine's day and they had fixed price menu in addition to their regular menu. The Osso Buco was dreamy and the service impeccable@
Excellent service and the food was incredible. The atmosphere was buzzing but not too loud to have a personal conversation. I would most definately come back again.
