Food was very good, but the service wasn’t great. Waiter was enthusiastic and friendly when introducing himself but then disappeared. We could see him spending a lot of time with two other tables (regulars?)Had to ask another waiter for help three times. Manager was rushing around doing his best... but the rest of the crew seemed uninterested.
Food was mixed. My wife had the ravioli and it was average- no mushroom flavor. Pasta rustica and pasta bolognais were very good. Restaurant was very noisy and crowded. The service was rushed. Entree came before we had a chance to eat the salad. Server turned it into a joke about how the kitchen can’t slow down instead of apologizing for the poorly timed service. Overall I would not recommend.
Terrific place with good food and service! We appreciated seating for large group!
Two moms and three potential college students enjoyed our time at Nonnas. The moms had an hour at the bar before the kids arrived and our only complaints occurred there. Service at the bar was far from attentive. And they ran out of cold bottled beer. It was St. Patrick's Day so perhaps that's understandable but the way it was handled left us wanting a little more attention or care. Despite those two things, I'd go back! :)
The food was absolutely amazing and the ambience is wonderful. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful, though at one point it seemed like they didn't think my father new one well enough to pick his own and just picked for him.
Great food, excellent service, great environment.
Awesome experience and food was delicious! ❤️
We love this place!!! Back patio is super fun, and the waiters are so kind. They accommodate food preferences and their seafood is GOOOD!!!
We had a delicious dinner outside under the gas lamps. The food was very good and the staff was very helpful and attentive. We enjoyed the energy generated by Little Italy at night.
Fabio was terrific waiter. Food was excellent and even though it was a very busy Friday night, we were seated immediately.
Everything was perfect! The food was fantastic!!
Noisy couldn’t talk
Ok but not really different or exceptional
My husband and I both had a taste for Italian food. Nonna’s didn’t disappoint! We ordered the Antipasto Misto for an appetizer and Lasagna for dinner! Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend Nonna’s!
I ate here before the name change and was not impressed, now as Nonna the food is amazing and the service was just as good as the food. I will be going back many more times.
Highly recommemded great place in little Italy in San Diego
Bad service, 2 out of 5 bad plates
I like the indoor/outdoor dining.
great location before heading to The Music Box
Great new restaurant in Little Italy.
Great service and good food!
We loved the octopus salad.
Food was good; service was superb! Here's an example of their wonderfulness: we celebrated our anniversary there, and our waiter, without prompting, brought us a piece of delicious white chocolate cheesecake. We then proceeded to order another dessert (an equally wonderful tiramisu), a coffee, and a tea. When the bill came, both desserts were gratis.
Another example: I spilled he last two sips of my wine on the floor. Not only did they clean it up practically immediately, they brought over a full (large) glass as a replacement.
Food was good, too.
Instálate Tritata , carciofi app, and ORECCHIETTE w short ribs were all SPOT ON DELICIOUS ! All were recommendations by SERVER, PIERO !
Delightful service and will definitely return 😊
Good food, good service. Excellent wood fired pizza.
good food and amazing cannolis, their pastries are the best for sure
This was our first time in Little Italy. We had a great experience.
It was a great experience. Went for a birthday and the food was excellent. Loved the lasagna. The waiter was so sweet and funny. We all had a great time.
Glad to see it opened again and I love the updated look. The food was great. I will definitely be a regular on every business trip.
Great food and service from Margaret .
The service was outstanding, ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy and warm. The food was amazing, best Caprese I’ve ever had.
Outstanding service and food!!!
Great food, excellent service! The staff was very attentive. Just what I expected from a Busalacchi restaurant.
Birthday dinner with a small group. It was wonderful. The noise was a little overwhelming, so we will sit outside next time.
Food and service always great. Best choices of entrees and wine.
The food was wonderful. Our waiter was lively and entertaining. His Italian accent, although charming, was at times difficult to understand. One of the three meals did not arrive with the others, it was lost somehow, which tarnished our dining together experience. Other than that it was a very pleasant meal...
We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Nonna. It was a lovely restaurant and wonderful food.
We ate here Saturday night and loved it so much we came back tonight. The lobster ravioli was the best we have ever had, rich with flavor and not a bit “fishy” tasting. The sauce was like lobster bisque soup. We also had mussels (cheerfully made off the menu upon request) as well as lasagna. The excellent selection of fresh pastries and desserts was reasonably priced and very high quality. The service was also impeccable and I sensed this is the type of restaurant the staff would welcome you as friends and family after a few visits!
Our meal definitely lived up to our expectations for comfort food. My daughter ordered the pasta with bolognese sauce and enjoyed it very much. I had the short ribs, which were delicious. Service was on the slow side, but we had good food and good wine, so we didn’t mind too much.
Went for our anniversary. Placed a reservation via Open Table and placed and noted that we were attending for our anniversary, don't bother, they never acknowledge it. In fact they told us we had to wait 30-40 for our reservation... So what's the point of reserving!? The food was very good but plan on waiting for everything. Took about fifteen minutes just to order a bottle of wine, which was uncalled for a not so busy Wednesday night, then took over thirty minutes to be served between our appatizers and main course, it doesn't take thirty to forty minutes to make pasta and a salad. The reason I mention the exact time is because it took so long we actually took notice to the time. Mind you, the tables next to us we're served faster. Also, if you plan on having a salad, you better not have an appetite, you'll only get about five or six bites, smallest salad EVER! The desserts we're great! But they definitely can improve on their service. My wife and I will be going elsewhere next time for dinner, which is unfortunate given its recent review on San Diego Insider.
I'm pleased that this restaurant is very similar to its predecessor, Trattoria Fantastica. The menu was a little smaller, but food and service was still top-notch. And Zucchero still has amazing desserts. We always love being able to walk over to the Zucchero display case to visually select what we want for dessert and then simply tell our waiter which dessert we want.
Nonna’s is a great find in Little Italy. Great wine list. A great array of pasta dishes prepared in a homemade style. Don’t forget the cannolis.
Good, happy with service and food
