Italian
As San Antonio’s food scene continues to evolve, a new culinary hub is beginning to take shape downtown, where some might argue it all began. With signs of life stirring and anticipation building, the lights are officially back on in the historic Fairmount Hotel’s corner eatery. SILO Restaurants and Food Network Star runner-up and Executive Chef Luca Della Casa announce the opening of NONNA Osteria, offering artisan Northern Italian cuisine, honoring the regional traditions and heritage of Chef Della Casa’s homeland.

Extremely expensive! There were very few people eating lunch at this place, I assume because it is so expensive. They don’t even have a lunch menu and the overly priced dinner menu options were very small.

Excellent creative authentic Italian cuisine. A value considering the quality of food, service and atmosphere. Wished we lived in San Antonio - it would quickly become one our favorites.

Looked up the restaurant on trip advisor. It truly is the best Italian restaurant. Food was outstanding. Perfect portion sizes and Bradley was a perfect and attentive server. Perfect evening overall!!
Coming from Toronto with lots of Italian food experiences in Italy itself.

Every appetizer we tried was perfect (Arancina, pulps, grilled vegetables). The Atomic pizza was so good. Wine was reasonably priced and the service was impeccable. Our favorite restaurant in San Antonio.

Had the gambetti (shrimp) pizza. Overall, quite decent given that I compare it to NYC pizza , where I'm from. Service was outstanding throughout the restaurant - have to applaud that, and the surroundings were very pleasant and sunny.

Best authentic Italian food in San Antonio! Always take our out of town guests here for a nice dinner. I highly recommend the Carbonara and the gnocchi, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

I had high hopes for Nonna. I love all the Silos. But the food was over priced and under seasoned. The best thing we ate was the bread and tapenade they brought to the table, it was great. The goat cheese app was mouthwatering. But entrees were bland and all 4 in my party left disappointed. I prefer the smaller plate concept. These were larger entree portions, and thus more expensive. We did not take the leftovers home. Too many other great places in SA to go back here,

Delicious! Food was prepared with care even the salad. Our entrees were served hot. The service was slow but the place was lively. We had a good experience and plan to return to try other dishes. We will order the Atomic Pizza again--loved by everyone at our table.

Although the food was excellent the service and ambience left our group feeling disappointed.

Ambience: open kitchen and small dining area surrounded by glass made for a very noisy dinner. We couldn’t hear one another talk over the hustle and bustle from the kitchen and the conversations of others around us. Rather than an elegant dining experience it felt like you were in a mess hall.

Service: unfriendly waitress, had to ask several times for requested items (more water, bread, ect.) did not take time explain various menu items. We ordered the cheese wheel truffle pasta dish that was prepared table side but didn’t take the time to explain what was being added or what was happening to give us a culinary experience.

Nonna does not fail to disapoint. The food is well prepared and presented. My husband had the shrimp and scallop risotta with a tomato balsamic sauce. It was delightful. The fried caprese salad was a unique play on the traditional salad. The homemade gnocchi in a tomato bacon sauce was excellent.... try it you like it.

Food was amazing; it just took a little long to get out to the table. We were there at least an hour before we got our entrees. But the taste made up for the wait and the appetizer and bread held us over. Still highly recommend and will definitely return.

Took my wife and my Mom here for Mother’s Day! Had my Pop’s tag along. My wife and I had a great experience here a couple of weeks ago... but not so much this day!

1). When I booked the reservation on Open Table I thoroughly looked for a Set Menu and found none! But not the case when we showed up to the restaurant!

2). Realize it is Mother’s Day- I worked in restaurants for over 20+ years- but the service we received was subpar...

3). The Food was Just ok today! We were not “Wowed” like we were the other day!

4). Desserts were the highlight of the meal!

5). As we walked out- nobody said a word to us.

We may give this place another try... we shall se! Consistently putting out quality food and service will make or break you!

Great food, excellent service and nice wine list. Only issue was the closeness of the tables. I don’t like bumping elbows with the patron next me at another table. Other than that it was a great experience

This was our second visit to Nonna. The lunch menu seems to be same as dinner with entrees upward of $30. The service we had was the absolute worst, especially considering the restaurant only had five tables sat. Our food took an unreasonably long time with no visit from our server as empty drink glasses waited to be filled. The food was also disappointing once we finally did receive. My 9 year old son ordered cheese pizza that looked like a pool of wet grease, disgusting. I had the bolognese or should I say bowl of garlic! Ewww. We thought we would treat ourselves to a nice lunch before matinee at the Magic Theater. Never again, next time going to Dough.

We were seated promptly with a reservation on a Thursday. Ambiance was great, elegance without the stuffiness. Service was a little slow but it was a busy night and everyone was very courteous. Don't remember the proper names of what we ordered but drinks were the mule and the one that has lavender, both were delicious! The bread they bring over is sooo good! We had the octopus appetizer and shared the tableside crab and truffle pasta, amazing! Tiramisu ended the night, which was so light and airy. Would definitely come back!
