The majority of the ingredients at Nonna Beppa are imported from Italy, cured meats, cheese, and many other specialties such as Aceto Balsamico di Modena, are only a few of the products that the Emilia Romagna region is known for.
Nonna Beppa is more than just a restaurant, it's the fusion between passion and love for food, allowing you to take part of a unique culinary experience, in a convivial atmosphere.
Our "Sfoglina" makes homemade pasta every day, and upon request she can personalize the stuffing of your Ravioli or any pasta you'd like to try. Moreover Chef Wendy Cacciatori gives you the possibility to have Nonna Beppa at your own house or event, offering catering and private chef services.
We had Saturday brunch here. We first ordered grilled calamari. After 30 min we were encouraged by the same waiter NOT to take the calamari because not fresh. We ordered grilled octopus which came with a side of potatoes: the amount of octopus seemed to be the side and the potatoes the main course! The amount was so small and mediocre
Terrific food and knowledgeable service. Enjoyable atmosphere (we sat outside) and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and experience. Especially good value for the $$. Highly recommend.
Went for a Restaurant Week lunch for $26 but instead had their daily lunch special, 2 courses for $15! Excellent pasta items; this is definitely a winner!
The food, the staff - everything was just great! Can’t wait to go back again!
My wife and I celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary there. We traveled to Bologna, Italy as part of our honeymoon and this year we wanted to have food from that region. Well we struck gold. Just as our experience in Bologna was memorable so was Nonna Beppa!!! Wow, amazing food, great service, fabulous wine and Valentina (like my daughters name) was an amazing host. Family owned place, with deep roots in Bologna! I couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Thank you!
Always a lovely time going to this restaurant. If you want authentic Italian cuisine THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. Love their wine selection. The service is always great. Third time going and we went around 630/640 and there wasn’t a lot of people so we got GREAT service. Food came out fresh and at a timely manner. Staff was on top of needs. Just a lovely time.
Authentic, delicious and the service was impecable.
Absolutely the best Italian food we’ve had ever in NYC.
Closest thing to a 4 star restaurant in Bologna. Unbelievable!
A really great find with incredible food and awesome service.
Amazing place. Loved it and will go again.
Amazing food. Amazing service.
Good quality charcuterie, some lovely Italian wines, and the pastelli pasta I had never had before was different but tasty
Great little spot - if I lived near here, it would become my neighborhood go-to. Wide variety of dishes (pastas and meats) available at great prices. Mozzarella starter was tasty and generous portion. Chicken with artichoke was fine - a bit salty; probably would not order again next time. Nice twist on tiramisu with less lady finger. Sparkling extra brut rose was excellent.
My husband and I, fans of the owners’ Emilia 9 in our home town Miami Beach, invited old friends to join us at the chef’s newer New York restaurant. We knew which favorites to recommend, but it was also fun to share items on the menu that our friends thought they would enjoy. As appetizers, we shared the delicious grilled langoustines, 2 each, which are not on the menu but often available. Our friend ordered the pumpkin mushroom soup, and we shared an order of eggplant Parmesan. We thought our three choices wonderful. For our second course, I ordered my favorite tortellini in brodo, perfect for a rainy, chilly night. My friend did the same. Her husband ordered the braised beef cheeks served over mashed potatoes. He was very pleased. My husband had tagliatelle with prosciutto which he enjoyed. For dessert, we each had an afogato, a favorite. The ice cream was high quality, and the espresso properly intense.
Service was excellent, and we were pleased to once again see our Miami Beach hostess Valentina handling the front.
We shared a bottle of a nice Italian red wine.
I've eaten at many Italian restaurants in NYC and Nonna Beppa is one of the best. Fresh, authentic and a great atmosphere.
Sehr gutes Essen, die Trüffelpasta-Portion dürfte etwas grösser sein :-P
Fantastic food, wonderful service and quiet. You really can’t ask for anything more in a local restaurant. We will be back. They have seafood and pasta that is the real deal. Loved it
The food was indescribably delicious and really hit on all cylinders. Although there are many choices from all over the map of Italy there was particular concentration on the food I’ll be in the Emilia Romans region centered around Bologna.
This is very serious Italian cooking at not very serious prices.
As that old Levi’s Jewish rye bread advertisement said: “try it, you’ll like it!”
We had lunch at Nonna Beppa, a wonderful value. Meatballs were marvelous!
authentic Italian food in a typical Italian atmosphere . Great experience from the Appetizer to the Desserts. Excellent
Wonderful spot to enjoy family and friend s and they always make you feel welcomed.
This is as close as it gets to getting a taste of true Italian food without getting on a plane!
La vera cucina emiliana con pasta fatta veramente in casa, ogni piatto semplice ma buonissimo.
I ragazzi che hanno intrapreso questa avventura sono simpatici e disponibili
Assolutamente consigliato da non perdere !!!!
The restaurant may be short on atmosphere, but the food is fabulous.
Amazing Italian food! Best home made pasta in a while! Congrats
A wonderful little place with delicious authentic Italian food. The gnocchi bolognese were superb!
I really enjoyed my restaurant week dinner at Nonna Beppa. The staff was lovely and the food was generous and delicious. The menu was oddly truffle heavy but my friend and I shared appetizers of burrata & cherry tomatoes and a charcuterie board and main coursed of pumpkin cappellacci in butter and sage and tagliata di anzo alle erbe (sliced steak with truffle slivers). Wines start at a pretty high price range/per bottle (for me). I have already told several people about the restaurant and will go back for a special occasion.
Went for restaurant week -a good value. Very good service, food was great, ambiance very charming, friendly staff, the only thing I would say is that it’s pretty cold due to their landlord that supposedly is working with them to fix the issue. So they have space heaters which don’t really do that much. The chairs are metal and they were very cold so the one thing I would suggest are seat cushions, the chairs were not that comfortable but for a couple hours I could deal.
The other thing i would say is the wine list is nice but very expensive no moderate bottles. They start at $60 which in my opinion is a bit much. So wound up getting a glass each of wine..ranging from 11 to 14.
Would def recommend and will return.
The service was wonderful, the wait staff could not have been more welcoming. The food was spotty. The artichoke salad was good, the carved meat and cheese appetizer the best part of the meal. The pumpkin and mushroom soup was somewhat tasteless, not hot enough and a bit overly salted. The chicken and artichoke main course was just okay. The tiramisu was good. Nothing wowed us except the meat and cheese appetizer. Hmmm. The wine was very good. Not sure if it was just an off night. Might try again.
Like being in Italy - food is authentic- not for those that want the Americanized version of Italian food !
My only complaint with my experience was the ambiance. The steel chairs weren't particularly comfortable and, frankly, as cold as the air outside in NYC-a mere 32 degrees. We each commented on how uncomfortable and freezing the table seats were for both of us, a 5'1 and 6'2 couple.
Very good ambiance and service. Food jn the traditional Emilia Romangnola school. Arugula/fig salad outstanding. Chicken dish well prepared. Good wine selection. Would highly recommend. Have heard good things about sister restaurant in Miami.
We went for our anniversary and had a delicious meal. The wine recommendation was excellent and the food delicious. The manager, waitress, EVERYONE was attentive and very nice. We WILL be back!
Overpriced wine list that no one could assist us with telling us which wine is closest to a Cabernet since they did not have a Cabernet. They had a wine “expert” that was useless and the worst part was he was rude.
The food was dull and missing taste. Very disappointed since this place had such good reviews
We really wanted to like this restaurant as we are often in the area and are trying to expand our list of "go to" restaurants. When we entered, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and nice. We started with a delicious arugula and fig salad. Unfortunately, one of the main dishes (roasted pork special) was extremely salty, thereby ruining what started out so nicely. Our other main dish, lasagna, was ok, but also salty. We are sorry now that we didn't let the servers know. In their defense, they did ask how everything was but it felt too late to do anything about it. This is a problem we are finding way too common in restaurants and we now will add Nonna Beppa to that sad list. Perhaps they will read this review and take it into account. Portion sizes were adequate, though it is highly unlikely that you will have leftovers. Prices seemed average for this area, though a bit more on the plate would have been welcome. The bread was good, though serving it warm would have made it excellent. Not sure why the bread was served in a bag instead of a basket. Are they going for quirky and hip as opposed to traditional? The wines by the glass were nice. We might try this restaurant again if we see a response which seriously considers the salt issue. We did notice that our review is not the only one that mentions this problem. We will see what happens and possibly revisit.......
Food was awful...
Best Italian restaurant EVER!
It started off great with our apps but we waited an hour an a half for our mains which were fine but nothing super special (one of which we had to send back because it tasted off). Then we waited for our bills for quite awhile too. Our server was nice and the staff were very pleasant but it just took way too long for the entire experience. We nicely let our server know and weren’t compensated in any way. We never complain but this was just an odd experience...
Very disappointing food experience, would not go back. Dry, overcooked and too salty....
Unfortunately was overpriced. Felt forced into a bottle of wine that was a bit more expensive. The gentleman who appeared to be running the place waa more interested in drinking a glass of wine than being attentive to us and we were the only group in there. The rest of the place was empty. The lobster special came with quality pasta but the lobster itself was quite dry and overdone.
This place has a chance to be great because of its location and the fact that it serves a generally less available type of Italian cuisine but they just don’t seem to care about execution.
I’ll be very surprised if they’re still around in a year.
Love this place. Every bit is perfect. Authentic and unfussy. Highest quality and great service.
