We had a wonderful meal in a beautiful restaurant.
We made a reservation here for our anniversary, hoping for a quaint Italian ambience, tasty food, and a couple good cocktails. We were sat at a table that was more comparable to a nightstand. Our drinking glasses and silverware took up close to 1/3rd of the table, and once our appetizer was brought out there was zero room left on the table. We also had a party of 8 behind us with 3 or 4 LOUD children whose parents clearly hadn’t taught them how to use their “inside voices.” It seemed as if this family was a friend of the owner or manager, as they spoke Italian to the employees and seemed to be very well attended to. Just guessing about their connection to the restaurant, but it seemed obvious. We asked to be moved to a larger table away from the noise, but nothing was available. That was okay - not the restaurants fault. Then the food arrived. My dish was good; I ate the Coppoletta and he had a lobster dish with gnocchi. The lobster was SLIMY. We aren’t one to complain about food so I didn’t say anything...but the following is what truly set us over the edge: about the 10th time one of the children slid past my chair and bumped into me, he knocked one of the $10,000 paintings off the wall, which fell onto our table and into my fiancé’s food. A bottle of olive oil was also knocked over which got all over the sleeve of his shirt. Nothing was said to us. The family said nothing. The manager/owner did not apologize until much later when we decided we were leaving. Had this situation been handled tactfully, we might have stayed and had something good to say about this place, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Our anniversary dinner sucked, the food was meh, and the manager’s ability to adapt and overcome a situation was quite poor. I did appreciate our server’s kindness though, so there’s one nice thing to say about the place

Nonna Beppa overall was a treat! The ambiance is wonderful with beautiful paintings on the wall and the room had a relaxed feel. But what was the best thing about this place - the food! The tortellini was fantastic, with someone remarking it was the best they had outside of Italy, and another person saying that they haven't eaten this well in over a year. My tagliatelle was amazing (I had the mushroom, sausage, and cream) and three other people at the table had the same dish and we all smiled with pleasure in having eaten it. The desserts were wonderful - I thoroughly enjoyed the tiramisu, which is high praise because I normally don't like how most places prepare their tiramisu, and the chocolate ravioli was to die for! The only letdown was the service, which I understand we were a large group (10), but it felt like the waitstaff was more stressed, flustered, and nervous about us being there - maybe they normally don't do larger groups? Wine was good and overall it was a good time - would definitely return.

When we walked in and saw staff making homemade pasta we knew we stumbled into the right place. The restaurant was so cute and chic, our server was so kind & knowledgable and the food was DELICIOUS. Cannot beat the lunch special. Highly recommend!
very few places in the USA actually make real gnocco fritto. It's obscure and specific to a small region of Emilia-Romagna. Nonna Beppa tries but they don't get the dough quite right. Or the person making the dough that day doesn't understand what the end result should be. It was too dense, not airy enough, pieces were too small and seemed under cooked in the middle. Close but no close enough. Other than that, it's a great restaurant.
The interior was very inviting, exposed brick covered with intriguing artwork. But then this Italian restaurant was out of Sangiovese by the glass at $14, with the next offering at $22 being a less than stellar red. My beef tartare was less than appetizing in large chunks. My wife’s pasta dish arrived cold while my wild boar tagliatelle was not the wild boar with polenta I had ordered. I attribute this to our servers being in a rush and talking over me in a phony accent as I ordered. They did apologize and bought us an extra, unneeded, desert, which turned out to be as bland as the tiramisu we had ordered and were charged for. We went to this place for my birthday based on many good reviews we had read. I wish we had read deeper.

We had a great meal. Not the everyday things that you find in an Italian restaurant. The pace was a little off and a dish got lost, which would usually result in a much worse review. But we'd ordered too much and the restaurant made up for it in other areas of service, so it worked out in the end. Everything from the amazingly crisp grilled artichokes to the chocolate salami was well thought out and delicious. We'll be back!
The tables are crammed together so tightly that when my partner and I (we are really fit people but neither of us could fit through a 2-inch gap between the tables) went to pull the table out a bit so that he could step in to the other side of the table, the wine glass on my side of the table moved and broke. And the fact that the tables are crammed so tightly together means that no conversation is private and you can’t really hear one another. Food was average, at best.
The food was really good and the portion was plenty. Unfortunately, the service was hardly there. Never asked if we needed more wine, no water refills, took a really long time to take the order and even longer to get the check. We got a free dessert drink, perhaps for waiting so long for the check or perhaps because the manager is nice and was in a good mood. The tables are so close together that I can comment on the neighbors conversation (it felt like a Portlandia skit). Great food but there's a lot of that in nyc that also gives better service.
We loved our dining experience as far as being able to share a few things at our own pace. The waiter was very patient and nice! The portions and wine pour could have been a bit more generous.

We had Saturday brunch here. We first ordered grilled calamari. After 30 min we were encouraged by the same waiter NOT to take the calamari because not fresh. We ordered grilled octopus which came with a side of potatoes: the amount of octopus seemed to be the side and the potatoes the main course! The amount was so small and mediocre

Went for a Restaurant Week lunch for $26 but instead had their daily lunch special, 2 courses for $15! Excellent pasta items; this is definitely a winner!
I liked the atmosphere and would go back for a glass of wine and appetizer, maybe, if in the area. Both of our main courses were very bland and not memorable. I'm not sure how this restaurant has such good reviews. I was disappointed, as was my friend.

My wife and I celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary there. We traveled to Bologna, Italy as part of our honeymoon and this year we wanted to have food from that region. Well we struck gold. Just as our experience in Bologna was memorable so was Nonna Beppa!!! Wow, amazing food, great service, fabulous wine and Valentina (like my daughters name) was an amazing host. Family owned place, with deep roots in Bologna! I couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Thank you!
Always a lovely time going to this restaurant. If you want authentic Italian cuisine THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. Love their wine selection. The service is always great. Third time going and we went around 630/640 and there wasn’t a lot of people so we got GREAT service. Food came out fresh and at a timely manner. Staff was on top of needs. Just a lovely time.

Great little spot - if I lived near here, it would become my neighborhood go-to. Wide variety of dishes (pastas and meats) available at great prices. Mozzarella starter was tasty and generous portion. Chicken with artichoke was fine - a bit salty; probably would not order again next time. Nice twist on tiramisu with less lady finger. Sparkling extra brut rose was excellent.
My husband and I, fans of the owners’ Emilia 9 in our home town Miami Beach, invited old friends to join us at the chef’s newer New York restaurant. We knew which favorites to recommend, but it was also fun to share items on the menu that our friends thought they would enjoy. As appetizers, we shared the delicious grilled langoustines, 2 each, which are not on the menu but often available. Our friend ordered the pumpkin mushroom soup, and we shared an order of eggplant Parmesan. We thought our three choices wonderful. For our second course, I ordered my favorite tortellini in brodo, perfect for a rainy, chilly night. My friend did the same. Her husband ordered the braised beef cheeks served over mashed potatoes. He was very pleased. My husband had tagliatelle with prosciutto which he enjoyed. For dessert, we each had an afogato, a favorite. The ice cream was high quality, and the espresso properly intense.
Service was excellent, and we were pleased to once again see our Miami Beach hostess Valentina handling the front.
We shared a bottle of a nice Italian red wine.
I've eaten at many Italian restaurants in NYC and Nonna Beppa is one of the best. Fresh, authentic and a great atmosphere.

The food was indescribably delicious and really hit on all cylinders. Although there are many choices from all over the map of Italy there was particular concentration on the food I’ll be in the Emilia Romans region centered around Bologna.
This is very serious Italian cooking at not very serious prices.
