Always love eating at NoMi, so comfortable and elegant, and of course the view overlooking the Water Tower and Michigan Avenue is brilliant.

Good food, nice view. However, there was an event right next to the dining area, which raised the noise level and disturbed the ambiance. Aside from that, enjoyed our meal.

The food was horrible! The brussle sprout salad was so sweet, it was hard to recognize if you are having a desert or a salad! The pumpkin soup was so sweet as well! The chicken dish was tasteless! Does not worth a penny! Our bill was 200$ and I had to come home and eat again! Don't waste your money! The service was ok and the view is good but nothing else! Waste of time and money!

Overrated, more hype than substance.
Had to wait for atleast 35 min for our table from the reservation time, with barely any apologies.

Our experience at Nomi began when we were met by two aloof and disinterested hostesses at the front desk. They were both typing something on their phones/iPads and completely ignored us for about 15-20 seconds. Then one of them looked up briefly and said with a stolid face "we'll be with you in a moment." We stood there holding our coats for another couple of minutes while they finished their typing, then were shown to a table. Our waiter was more attentive, thank goodness. The food experience was mixed: my Brussels sprouts starter was rather greasy and sloppy: the sprouts were deep fried, then smothered in balsamic dressing. I had asked for them with LIGHT dressing. The salmon was nicely prepared. The busboy did not appear to know when to remove the salad utensils, when to bring a clean plate, etc. Our dining experience was "just OK" at best, but the price was extreme. At the prices they charge, Nomi has to do better, with their food and their hostesses.

This is usually one of my favorite restaurants but the last time was pretty average. It may be because it was the day before New Years Eve but it was just off. Somewhat disappointing but before this has always been very unique food that is excellent

Great atmosphere! Big ole kitchen right out in the open and great view of the city! Waiter was extremely inattentive and we basically never saw him. Apps were good! Veggie sushi was super yummy as well as the pumpkin soup! Entrees were rough. Friend asked if they had vegan options and was told they could do vegan pasta! Fab! Vegan pasta turned out to be watery onion flavored pasta. I had the scallops which were really tasty but everything around it was saltyyyyyyy. Except for the pears, there was really no relief. Other server ended up helping us out and she was great! Wish we could have tipped her! They did end up comping drinks.

We visited for Christmas Day dinner. Only when the restaurant called to confirm did we find out dinner was a Buffet at $145 per person. We had been to NoMi several times before and always had a great experience and "fine dining. We could have cancelled when we were called, but making a new reservation for Christmas Day was not necessarily something we had time for at such a late date and we always had had good meals previously. Even though there was a wide variety of foods the quality was below their norm, as could be expected on a buffet. The food was good, but not great and definitely not worth $145 per person. Our reservation was at 7 pm, which to me was not a late time, however they were out of a few items and did not replace them. Except for the fact we had a window table our experience was not what was expected or up to NoMi standards. Sorry we will not do this again next year.

Did not expect buffet on Christmas Eve, had I known I wouldn’t have gone. It was packed, noise level uncomfortable and service not great. I visit here often and like the place but the recent experience was not good at all.

We specifically requested a table near the window, which I understand can not always be accommodated; however, we were seated basically in a completely different room void of all the charm and far removed from the main restaurant. This was a huge disappointment as we had brought our 94 year old grandma for a special Christmas dinner. There were clearly other tables available, but the hostess refused to move us to offer a better dining experience. With the expense for 6 people to dine during Christmas and the poor seating offered-we will not be returning. Sadly, this used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago.

The hostess was not certain what the restaurant was serving; she welcomed me to brunch at 4:15. When I corrected her she insisted that it was Brunch.
The rest of the staff was great and the food was phenomenal.

This was a very nice place. The food had a wide variety of side dishes that were interesting. On the bread and cheese table they had what they called dip, but was more like a hard spread. You could not get it off the spoon.
They had three main dishes, but the roast beef was so salty I could not eat it. Sadly the food was not worth the price. I expected more main choices. Rack of lamb would have been nice.
The deserts were varied, but no cakes or pies except pecan.
On a positive note the service was terrific.

NoMI Kitchen has quickly soared to the top of our list of favorite places to dine in Chicago! It’s that perfect combination of exceptional cuisine and spectacular service that can be so hard to find these days. We started with a cocktail in the bar which boasted nice views and a warm club-like atmosphere. The bartenders clearly knew their craft and poured a perfect martini. After a few minutes of enjoying the views of Water Tower Square and the Chicago skyline, the restaurant hostess, who was so congenial and delightful, appeared and escorted us to our table. NoMI boasts an open kitchen concept, and they aren’t kidding. Our table was just a few feet from the action, where we could watch a team of chefs slicing, searing, and sautéing in a masterful almost choreographed culinary dance. Seconds after being seated, our waiter, Joe Brenner, arrived, introduced himself and gave us an overview of the contemporary midwestern menu. Joe was charming, engaging, informative, and full of recommendations. We chose the Beef Tartare as a starter. The Tartare was served with a caramelized onion aioli, pickled sun choke, and fried capers with crispy lattice potato chips, instead of the traditional toast. What a fantastic dish. Perfectly sweet and sour and the crunch of the chips added just the right amount of salty texture to compliment the beef. On to the mains. First up, the Scallops. What a presentation. Expertly seared scallops with puffs of celery root espuma, bacon, and pear aigre doux. A must order. Next, the Skuna Bay Salmon. Tomatillo salsa verde, black bean and a sweet corn chowchow. Again, stunning, and we even enjoyed every bite of the crispy salmon skin, which we often avoid. To finish, the S’murtle. Smoked pecans, caramel, ancho, chocolate, graham, and a Chantilly crème. Outrageous. Overall, NoMI Kitchen is a memorable experience from start-to-finish. Kudos to the Chef, kitchen team, and superb service staff.

Great restaurant. Went for an anniversary and they seated us at a great location with a view over the Historic Water Tower across the street. In addition, they treated us to a nice desert that said happy anniversary! Would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion.

I meet special friends in Chicago the week before Christmas and one of our dining destinations is always NoMI. It never disappoints. World class view over looking Water Tower Place on Michigan Ave in the Park Hyatt Hotel, plus wonderful service and a creative menu. A memorable dining experience.

We’ve been here before. The bar area is very lively on the weekend which is fun and the sushi is wonderful. We wanted to sit in the window to see the beautiful lights on Michigan Ave. Very romantic area. The dinner menu is very limited outside of the sushi menu. Pretty expensive. Our young waiter was very attentive in the right way. It all went smoothly. I don’t want to dis it but it’s someplace I would only go once a year at this time to enjoy the view if possible to get a window table, which they were very accommodating. I would recommend to friends but with the information I just gave.
