Although I booked 2weeks in advance for a window seat with a good view I did not get a window seat without any notice. Extreme disappoint considering I had a overseas guest visiting. Sushi and food portions are about half of what you would usually expect. You would not describe a menu "platter" for few pieces of sushi. I wish they indicate number of pieces for further clarification in future. There was no allocated waiter for the table to serve us and they kept changing which was unusual.
very nice meal with attentive service. The dishes we tried were outstanding and different. while we were surprised to have a one year old at the table next to us and two young grandkids at the table on the other side of us, they were well behaved and did not detract from our experience. The bar is also a very nice space and a comfortable place to wait for your table to be ready.
While the restaurant has a perfect position overlooking Michigan Avenue we found the food mediocre and overpriced for what you get.
Our party of three has a terrific meal - sushi to start and then the scallops and red snapper for 2. In truth, the red snapper could have easily fed 3 or 4; I’d strongly consider sharing it amount a larger party. Terrific wines by the glass.
Nice views from the table and that's it. Flavorless food with odd pairings like fish floating in salty beef jus. Probably should have stuck to sushi, but multiple options were "out." Burned on the outside and oddly prepared "baked" alaska. The food was edible and we were hungry, but not a single course was great and we will not be back. Decent wine selection.
When you consider the price to be about what you would spend on a whole-family Thanksgiving dinner, it's like having the holiday for two without all the cooking. A huge number of items to choose from for an all you can eat buffet, all of them very good to excellent. A bright room and friendly ambiance.
Thanksgiving buffet was great / enjoyed the brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, hake, parnsip puree, sushi bar
Thanksgiving was fantastic.
Great sushi and overall fantastic Brunch.
Fabulous service and what an amazing view!
We were very disappointed with the food. Normally it is very good. Our meal Friday night was less than mediocre. Something you would find as average hotel food. Nomi is normally much better. My wife had the lamb shank. Nothing bringing out the flavor of the lamb. In fact, you would not have known it was lamb. The chicken also lacked flavor. It had a reduction sauce, but it did nothing to bring out the flavor of the chicken. The pasta with some type of prisciotto was bland. This meal was well beneath what Nomi normally serves. Nomi had been one of our favorites, this meal left a really bad taste in our mouth. It will be a while before we try it again.
Nomi is a good restaurant but the salmon I ordered, was dry and the brocollini was roasted too long, it was charred and bitter to taste. Otherwise overall the drinks and sushi was wonderful.
It was our 30th anniversary. We came with another couple and had a great time.
We had an enjoyable brunch experience at NoMI. Everyone from the moment we walked in was warm, professional, and accommodating. The view onto Michigan avenue was second to none. The coffee and the mimosas were perfection. We ordered smoked salmon, biscuits, and gravy and brioche french toast. All were delicious. Our party of six was seated in a private area, which was a welcome bonus. There is a small art gallery on the side with an original Matisse lithograph and other original works. Lovely surprise! We will be back.
Great venue for unrestricted views of Chicago's original Water Tower from the Great Fire and its watering station, so definitely take your out of town guests here. Good selection of menu items , from sushi to lamb chops and nice selection of wines. The food was adequately prepared and the chef was flexible in changing a menu item to accommodate a food intolerance. Dessert choices were varied and creative. Bar area was hopping.
The food, service and ambiance at NoMi in Chicago is/are unforgettable. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking and the menu is varied and would appeal to the pickiest of diners. The service is helpful without being hovering and is definitely an integral part of the dining experience. Highly recommend.
Great veg options and wonderful service in a sophisticated setting. The cookies and candies plate is memorable!
We ordered off the sushi menu and it was amazing! Loved everything about the experience and the staff were great. Highly recommend!
Birthday celebration that there staff made extra special. They went above and beyond
The service staff was friendly and the food was absolutely spectacular! I wish that I were local so I could come back again soon!
Excellent service from Mohammad as always! Very welcoming!
The food was terrible to say the least...lobster with CINNAMON???? Ugh! The duck was chewy, and tasteless...the chicken was good but the mushy noodles that accompanied the dish tasted like they were cooked in perfumed sock water...the scallops were mediocre at best , who creates these tasteless dishes? The chef needs to go back to culinary school. The service was poor! Many of our appetizers were forgotten, everything took way too long.. maybe because the 18% tip is guaranteed no matter what the service is like...Our bill was$1,300.00 (AND they put 18% on the wine which they shouldn't do because restaurant wine as we all know is double to triple the price ..we only had 6 people) so 18% of that without really doing your best...which is FINE if the food and service warranted it. The ONLY thing that was good was the sushi...PERIOD! Will never return!
Great service, food consistently good, can't beat that view!
Very nice view overlooking the Water Tower. The appetizers were quite good. My salmon was a bit dry but had good flavor.
It was a wonderful exp. date, special occasion or business
NoMi is my favorite restaurant in Chicago : )
Excellent service, delicious meals, beautiful ambiance
Service was not great, waiter was kind of dismissive until the end then he cheered up. Food was ok, had a bad oyster that was milky looking and looked completely bad. The atmosphere is beautiful and sushi was good not great, I don’t think it’s worth the price.
It took 15 minutes to get a cocktail sitting in the bar. The place is dated and needs a facelift including the lobby in the hotel. The place was smoky and I think their exhaust hoods could use some service.
The hostess made us wait for lunch for over 10 minutes with no apologies, we then missed out on a better table because of that. Then our waiter was no where to be found for most of the meal and the food took forever.
A great place to have lunch. A beautiful view, wonderful food and drinks. We loved every minute and bite! Thank you for the great service!!
Nothing wrong. Everything right.
We had the most wonderful brunch at NoMI. My spouse said her Eggs Benedict with crab salad was the best egg dish she has ever eaten. My avocado toast was divine as was the service and the atmosphere. In short, we had one of the best breakfasts in our memory at NoMI.
We thoroughly enjoy NoMi, either for breakfast or using the lounge in the afternoon or evening. Excellent service, food, breakfast views toward the lake. The staff is superb and the ambience is cozy and quiet. The food is always excellent with a great selection. Enjoy with family, friends!
Had a delicious family brunch with a wonderful view and excellent service. Would definitely return and recommend.
I had a dinner with my husband and his parents at NoMI. We all enjoyed the food, which was fantastic and stylish. We also enjoyed the view from the restaurant (e.g., the lighted-up Chicago Water Tower). The staff was friendly and attentive. I had a modern french soup as a starter, followed by a plate of Sushi (a chef's selection $50ish). I enjoyed this cross-cultural dinner. Sushi (Nigiri) were fresh and tasty, particularly "Uni (sea urchin)" imported from Hokkaido. I am Japanese, born in a fishing village in Japan, and can tell how fresh fish is:). Highly recommended (as long as one knows that dining here is not cheap).
Beautiful room for brunch and great food and service.
Outstanding on all counts
Love NoMi. Food and service always surpasses expectations!
We were in Chicago for my daughter's 22nd birthday and we had brunch at NoMI. It was gorgeous, we sat by the window and had an breathetaking view and the food was really good. This is definitely going to the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Chicago. Thanks for an amazing visit!
