Had reservations for 8pm, we were finally sat at 8:50pm. We got our first taste of food at 9:40pm. The cauliflower appetizer was just ok, a bit mushy. The chicken tagine was poor and the lamb special was overcooked and the sides was plain couscous and raw radishes. Safe to say that was the last time I'll be at Nomad.
We had been to the restaurant once before prior to the theater, and were interested to try it again at a more leisurely pace. The restaurant was busy, and the music was louder than it had been on our previous visit - louder than we prefer, though we could still have a conversation. (I acknowledge that this is largely a matter of taste).
The sangria and the food was all very tasty, but the entrees came out before the appetizers. When we pointed this out, they took the entrees away, and we felt we needed to make sure they didn’t just leave our meals under a warming lamp. The servers responded very well, and from that point on, the service was impeccable.
Nomad will definitely be someplace we consider when we are in the East Village.
This restaurant has excellent food, but real problems with too-loud music and sloppy staff. Also, they demanded a reservation, which I had, even though more than half the restaurant was empty, which I found insulting. DO NOT GO HERE ON A FRIDAY OR SATURDAY! You can't talk to your dinner companions because of noise, and are likely to have your order bungled. Go on a quiet night and an off time, and you may have some amazing food.
Love how they divide the “energetic, louder” area in the front part of the restaurant, and “quieter” family area in the back of the restaurant. Nice decor throughout - my other half is Moroccan, he gave a thumbs up on the meals authenticity.

Great little place in the East Village. The only problem was that I made a reservation at 8:30pm,but we were sat closer to 9pm. Then, it took such a long time for someone to serve us. I think they need more staff. We had to figure out what to order all at once in fear that we may never see our server for a while. Other than that, our dishes were tasty and I loved the overall atmosphere.

The lamb was fatty and tender and juicy. Couscous was flavorful and rich; the fruit additions made it slightly sweet without being overpowering.
Great place, service is very good, loved the Trip appetizer but my chicken Tagine was quite flavorless, will have to try the lamb next time.

We went there because our friend, Lisa Pakulski, was filling in for the singer in the back room. We loved the back room; we thought it was the best thing about the restaurant. It's like a little jazz club within the restaurant. We were disappointed that they didn't have a real bar. The food was good, but a little pricey. I'm not used to spending $95 tip included for dinner for me and my wife wt only a single glass of wine each--but we don't go out much so that's probably my problem more than anything. But we were there for the music and that part of the evening was great--the room was superb and Lisa was great.
This restaurant has been in our neighborhood for years. We always ate at their sister restaurant across Second Ave, We decided to try it and we were glad we did. The food was delicious. We started with a mussel appetizer. We were presented with a large plate of mussels. It was tasty and good value. We then had the Appetizer Trio of 3 dips. This also was delicious. I ordered the Lamb shank which I love and am happy to find as a menu choice. This dish was cooked with apricots, prunes and almonds which did a 180 on the usual way lamb shank is cooked and I just loved it. My wife had the fish of the day which was a whole Bronzini which they gladly filleted for her as she hates dealing with bones. She also loved it as it was cooked with various vegetables. My son had the lamb from the choice of daily specials and my daughter had a chicken dish. We all loved the food. The manager came over several times inquiring how the food was. This manger is very attentive to his customers. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable , All in all my family loved this restaurant and would recommend it.

This cozy eatery with a Mideast-North African vibe will please the pickiest eater. That's because there are so many delicious menu options - everything from full courses like whole broiled fish and tangines (delicious) to flatbreads, hummus platters and veggie sides (also yummy) If you like calamari, this is no miss. A nice selection of wines. My guests and I plan a return visit - soon. And it's right around the corner from New York Theatre Workshop.

Awesome place! Great food and wine was good! It got busy though and it took a while to get our cheque towards the end. The staff is VERY nice but not too overbearing and always are looking out for the table!!!

The food here was a creative twist on traditional Moroccan style cuisine. While nothing was mind blowingly good, there were some several good tasting items in our selections. The bing standout for the day was the seafood couscous.

We were there early, so cannot comment on how noisy or quiet it is when busy. Nomad is charming, small, and, when we were there, empty. It is on busy 2nd Ave. on the Lower East Side. A great bathroom, dim, filled with artifacts from the Middle East. The service was attentive, although they seemed unconcerned/oblivious to our Open Table reservation. I indicated on it that it was our 37th anniversary, but the wait person did not acknowledge knowing that. The halloumi cheese appetizer was terrific. We go back.
Although the food was delicious, the service was lacking. When I checked in the waitress brought us to the table without checking us in. I asked her specifically to make certain she checked me in, but apparently she never did (I received an email asking me why I didn't show up for my reservation). We also had listed on the reservation and told the waitress upon being seated we had an hour to order and eat because we were eating during a theatre dinner break. I ordered two appetizers for my dinner and my friend ordered an entree. We told the waitress my food should be brought with my friend's entree. Instead, my food came immediately and hers took another 25 minutes. They offered us a large bottle of pellegrino water which we couldn't take (no time to drink it) and ultimately gave me a refill on my Diet Coke. Very disappointing.

The atmosphere and the service were great! The food, on the other hand, was so-so ( the tagine, for example, was not like a real tagine and the meat lacked flavor ( spices) + there were no vegetables.
The Nomad provided our group of 18 with a special prix fixe menu of Moroccan specialties that was delicious. This is the perfect place to stop after the theater. thank you Nomad!
The main Moroccan dish most people are familiar with is couscous, a delicious grain. Nomad offers cous cous as a side or as a main with vegetables, chicken or lamb. I did not try the C\chicken dish cooked in a tagine, but a friend did, and loved it. Moroccan cuisine includes seafood dishes. Salmon was delicious. A variety of salads are on the menu. After the meal we had sweet spearmint Moroccan tea. Very tasty. The creme brulee is amazing. Nomad is a clean, cozy space with authentic Morrocan decor and soft lighting. If you're looking for a quiet, low key evening, with wonderful food, and friendly service, this is the place.
