The staff was very attentive and all of our meals were outstanding. For me, the red bean & rice soup and chicken and dumplings was fantastic! Also well complemented was the catfish and shrimp and grits. Great place for dinner in Market Square.

Food was uniformly excellent. Grilled chicken and dumplings, shrimp and grits, roasted oysters, jumbalaya. Service was spotty. Waiter had no clue what beers were available and altogether forgot to bring my friend his beer. Seating in the corridor connecting front to back is not ideal... try to avoid it if you can! But, the food is consistently very good!

Our server, Lauren was knowledgeable and very helpful. Excellent service. The Basilic cocktail was amazing as was chicken and dumplings. Pecan pie was to die for.

They were very accommodating to my dietary needs (I'm a vegetarian). At one point they thought they had accidentally made my dinner wrong and offered me another immediately. They were so kind and really went out of their way to make sure I had a good dining experience. I will definitely return!

The food at NOLA has always been good. Very close to the real thing in New Orleans. Our server was young and may have been new so he was not as attentive as we have had in the past. When the manager noticed his tables a little behind she jumped right in to lend a hand as a good manager should. Both were very pleasant and nice. Would we go back again? You’d better believe we will.

This was the fourth time dining here & the service was not acceptable any of those times. My husband and I love the food, but waiting up to 10 minutes for our first drink was unacceptable. The bar was not busy & there were 3 people behind the bar.
Our salads arrived with the main course (all 4 times!).
This time, my food arrived COLD & had to be sent back.
It seemed that our server had too many tables to wait on.
My husband ordered a drink & was brought the wrong drink. We couldn’t spot the server for several minutes, so my husband drank it.
After the server took our food order & brought our first drinks, his appearance was scarce.
It took an extremely long time to get our check.
Good thing we had early reservations, as we had tickets to a show at the Benedum.
As much as we love the food, I think we will try another downtown restaurant for dinner.
The diners next to us said this was their last time there. They also waited a long time for service.

We went to Nola on the Square in Pittsburgh for the first time in the Fall 2011, and since then we have come back for the food, music, service and overall the ambience. It is a lovely place if you like live music and food experiences in an original decor. Indoor and outdoor dining are equally enjoyable.

Our Server was delightful, it took forever to get through lunch! I don't know if you were short staffed, but it took 20 minutes to get a piece of cake after we ordered it. One and a half hours for a lunch of soup and salad. Not too good!

Stuffed mushroom appetizer was cold. Fried pork chop burnt. Chicken and dumplings were burnt. Service was sub par. Very disappointed. The reviews said this restaurant was good and our choices were based on recommendations. Maybe they were just having a bad night. I do not recommend eating here. Sorry.

Nola's should really consider to have French pressed - coffee!!!
Everything else was very good. Service was even better. However, we were there on a Saturday evening, seating in rear and it was still very, very loud. Outside very nice - good to see Pittsburghers out and supporting the city etc.

I had heard from a few different people that Nola's happy hour was the best value around, so we decided to check it out on a Friday after work. We had a great time people-watching on the patio under the umbrellas, sipping $4 cocktails, and munching on $1 gumbo and $4 apps. We liked some things more than others, but we enjoyed being able to try so many things without breaking the bank. The service was great, and the staff was very attentive in making sure the weather didn't bother us in our outdoor seats. I especially loved that their happy hour specials weren't confined to the bar. I would definitely go back, and we will likely add Nola to our regular rotation of happy hour restaurants.

We had just got back from New Orleans and were craving a Muffaletta but there was only Muffaletta flatbread on the menu. Our waiter (at our request) asked the chef if he would make us the sandwich and the chef was glad to honor our request. We shared the sandwich which came with fries. Both were delicious, sandwich was just what we were looking for, and the fries were flavorful, crisp and delicious. We also split an order of the fried green tomatoes which were absolutely the best I have ever tasted! Our waiter was personable and attentive, really enjoyed him. It was a beautiful night so we sat outside, quiet Sunday evening crowd, with just enough to make it fun to people watch. Enjoyed our evening would definitely recommend and will definitely go back.

I took friends visiting Pittsburgh here for dinner. Our reservation was for 7:00. Shortly after we were seated the music started. The best description would be that it was ear splitting. We had to be content with looking at each other and smiling until we left the restaurant. Food and service were, as usual, great. The noise completely spoiled the evening. It should have started later, after most people were finished dining, or should have been way, way less. I am still a fan but will check out the music situation before I go again.

Great spot on Market Square for sitting outside and people watching. The food was good, nothing to write home about. Service was spotty, but friendly. It's possibly we picked an off night for them. I would give it another try, but it was just OK

It was my birthday and I love to cook and eat different dishes. Nola is perfect for anyone that loves fresh hand crafted food. I had the shrimp and grits (best ever ), my husband had jambalaya and our son had pork. The beans and rice appetizer was remarkable. Wait staff is on the spot and friendly. I will be back soon. A perfect celebration!

Chose NOLA for a friend who loves Creole/Cajun based on several recommendations and reviews. We knew there would be live music but when we arrived we were struck by the band's volume and were grateful for outside seating where would still hear the music but be able to talk as well. Server was attentive and made sure to let us know that dishes were spicy but we could request milder seasoning.

Smallish wine/beer menu. Tasso pierogi and fried green tomatoes are great starters to share. No complaints with either dish. We stayed traditional with our entrees of jambalaya and shrimp and grits. The jambalaya was spicy as anticipated in a dark roux sauce. I was surprised the shrimp and grits had same sauce. Interestingly though it was not spicy at all and I am sensitive to cayenne.

I would recommend starting here with drinks and starters/small plates. Would like to try again as I hear happy hour is quite fun.

As usual NOLA on the Square was excellent. Our server, Greggory, was very attentive and gave us great suggestions for lunch. The blackened catfish was over the top! While we were there for a business lunch NOLA we have past experience both at the bar after work as well as business and "just for fun" dinners. Highly recommend especially if you enoy true New Orleans style dining. Cheers.

We had an excellent meal and while the noise level of the music would have made it impossible to carry on a conversation inside, it was perfect for our outdoor table. Our server was personable and competent, the food was outstanding, and we will definitely return soon.

I've eaten a Nola countless times for lunch because I work downtown. The food is great, but only go when you have time to wait. It is definitely not a great location for a lunch hour, maybe a lunch hour and a half. That being said yesterday was not like my other visits, the service was good. No one refilled our water and our waiter seemed loaded with tables even though he didn't seem overwhelmed, I think pieces fell through the cracks. Otherwise it was still great food and one off day won't keep me from returning!!
