Hen was very dry. Alligator tasted great but at $13, way too expensive.

Horrible customer service. Started with hostess walking around like she would rather be at home eating Bon bons. Zero greeting or any type of acknowledgement for at least 20 minuets! We wouldn’t mind if we were waiting for free food, however that was not the case! Price point for their menu requires a hell of lot more refinement. I will never dine there again and will share this horrible experience with anyone that will listen!

Love NOLA! Decent tap list, great New Orleans inspired cuisine and super friendly service. The service can be slow at times, and the bathrooms are downstairs... but hey, it's New Orleans after all.

The live jazz can be terrific. If you're into that, you should check.

Still and all, one of my goto places in downtown Pittsburgh.

For an appetizer we received fried alligator but our portion was very very small. The table right next to us order the same thing but their size was twice the size of ours. Also a lot of great dishes that I love from them that made me share with friends and visit have been removed which was a disappointment and make me not really interested in going for food really.

Great Seafood jambalaya. My wife really enjoyed the ricotta dumplings in her chicken and dumplings so much that she ate all the dumplings and only had room for one pc of chicken

Once again, we were entirely satisfied with the experience. We have brought a number of friends to dinner at NOLA and they all have greatly enjoyed themselves. From the excellent service provided by Alexandra (perhaps spelling not correct) to the delicious food options everyone had a great time. The only negative was desert. I am diabetic but could not resist having beignets and ice cream. I paid for that the next day with blood sugar over 200. But, we'll definitely be back.

The food and service were very good. I got the pumpkin squash soup which was rich and delicious. I also got the seafood jambalaya which was very good. It was spicy but not too spicy (which is a good thing!). The scallops could have been browned just a little bit more. The shrimp was very fresh and appealing. For dessert, I got the sweet potato cheesecake and it was simply wonderful. Any time I've ever gotten cheesecake at Nola it's been absolutely delicious. I had pumpkin cheesecake there a couple years ago and I still think about it. Overall, good food and good experience.

The food was not that great, especially for the price. I’d go back just for dessert and drinks though. Our server and the other staff we interacted with were all great.

We had tickets to an 8 o’clock show and that we informed our waitress when we arrived at 6:15. Drinks and salads were served quickly but then we waited for our entrees. We asked everyone who walked by our table where our food was and it finally was served at 7:35. We gulped our food down and left 15 minutes later. Obviously not a good experience and I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone.

NOLA is a nice convenient spot before going to Heinz Hall, and it offers a nice array of foods influenced by New Orleans. This can be a stretch to some degree. I had red beans and rice soup as my starter, and my companion had gumbo. Both were tasty. Entrees were even better -- I had the fish special of grilled trout over mushrooms and chickpea hash. This was a hearty plate. My guest had blackened chicken over dumplings and raved about it.
Some meals here have just been OK. On this outing, we left pleased and satisfied.

Food was uniformly excellent. Grilled chicken and dumplings, shrimp and grits, roasted oysters, jumbalaya. Service was spotty. Waiter had no clue what beers were available and altogether forgot to bring my friend his beer. Seating in the corridor connecting front to back is not ideal... try to avoid it if you can! But, the food is consistently very good!

They were very accommodating to my dietary needs (I'm a vegetarian). At one point they thought they had accidentally made my dinner wrong and offered me another immediately. They were so kind and really went out of their way to make sure I had a good dining experience. I will definitely return!

The food at NOLA has always been good. Very close to the real thing in New Orleans. Our server was young and may have been new so he was not as attentive as we have had in the past. When the manager noticed his tables a little behind she jumped right in to lend a hand as a good manager should. Both were very pleasant and nice. Would we go back again? You’d better believe we will.

This was the fourth time dining here & the service was not acceptable any of those times. My husband and I love the food, but waiting up to 10 minutes for our first drink was unacceptable. The bar was not busy & there were 3 people behind the bar.
Our salads arrived with the main course (all 4 times!).
This time, my food arrived COLD & had to be sent back.
It seemed that our server had too many tables to wait on.
My husband ordered a drink & was brought the wrong drink. We couldn’t spot the server for several minutes, so my husband drank it.
After the server took our food order & brought our first drinks, his appearance was scarce.
It took an extremely long time to get our check.
Good thing we had early reservations, as we had tickets to a show at the Benedum.
As much as we love the food, I think we will try another downtown restaurant for dinner.
The diners next to us said this was their last time there. They also waited a long time for service.

We went to Nola on the Square in Pittsburgh for the first time in the Fall 2011, and since then we have come back for the food, music, service and overall the ambience. It is a lovely place if you like live music and food experiences in an original decor. Indoor and outdoor dining are equally enjoyable.

Our Server was delightful, it took forever to get through lunch! I don't know if you were short staffed, but it took 20 minutes to get a piece of cake after we ordered it. One and a half hours for a lunch of soup and salad. Not too good!

Stuffed mushroom appetizer was cold. Fried pork chop burnt. Chicken and dumplings were burnt. Service was sub par. Very disappointed. The reviews said this restaurant was good and our choices were based on recommendations. Maybe they were just having a bad night. I do not recommend eating here. Sorry.

Nola's should really consider to have French pressed - coffee!!!
Everything else was very good. Service was even better. However, we were there on a Saturday evening, seating in rear and it was still very, very loud. Outside very nice - good to see Pittsburghers out and supporting the city etc.

I had heard from a few different people that Nola's happy hour was the best value around, so we decided to check it out on a Friday after work. We had a great time people-watching on the patio under the umbrellas, sipping $4 cocktails, and munching on $1 gumbo and $4 apps. We liked some things more than others, but we enjoyed being able to try so many things without breaking the bank. The service was great, and the staff was very attentive in making sure the weather didn't bother us in our outdoor seats. I especially loved that their happy hour specials weren't confined to the bar. I would definitely go back, and we will likely add Nola to our regular rotation of happy hour restaurants.

We had just got back from New Orleans and were craving a Muffaletta but there was only Muffaletta flatbread on the menu. Our waiter (at our request) asked the chef if he would make us the sandwich and the chef was glad to honor our request. We shared the sandwich which came with fries. Both were delicious, sandwich was just what we were looking for, and the fries were flavorful, crisp and delicious. We also split an order of the fried green tomatoes which were absolutely the best I have ever tasted! Our waiter was personable and attentive, really enjoyed him. It was a beautiful night so we sat outside, quiet Sunday evening crowd, with just enough to make it fun to people watch. Enjoyed our evening would definitely recommend and will definitely go back.
