This was my first time at this restaurant. We were seated immediately. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The food was excellent.

This visit was our second time at Nola on the Square. We had a wonderful time. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. The variety of choices made it hard to decide.

My go to location for Business Meals!! Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere!

The food here is absolutely wonderful. I haven't had a blackened catfish entree this spicy and delicious in well over twenty years. My wife's vegetarian jumbalaya had the perfect blend of heat and flavor, while our youngest son enjoyed his spicy chicken sandwich with fries. Our oldest son, who was the reason for being there as it was his 16th birthday, had a shrimp sandwich and alligator. We never had gator before, but it was prepared with a mouthwatering blend of spices. Have we mentioned we like spices? Okay. I'm sure I did somewhere along the way...

NOLA had the incomparable RML jazz band playing there on Saturday evening, which was another reason why we celebrated the birthday there. Bands can be a bit loud, even when you're sitting back in the dining area away from the band and bar, but you have to go with it as part of the restaurant's charm.

NOLA is my go to for business meals at lunch! Great menu, great atmosphere, and great service. I took one of my new employees to NOLA for lunch and it didn’t disappoint. We were kindly greeted, quickly sat, and our waitress was very nice. Our food was delicious, hot, and as we ordered it! One NOLA Salad with Chicken, and one Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Another great lunch at NOLA!!

This was not my first trip; but, was my first in a while.

Between the four of us we had the following:

Fried Pickle Spears - declicious, spicy, and fried just right

Red beans and rice - two servings. Both had hard, undercooked rice which was disappointing.

Shrimp and Grits: Tasty. Large portioned. No complaints

Shrimp Po-Boy: Well cooked, good portion, a bit underwhelming

Chicken and Dumplings: Dumplings inedible. Too much broth. Chicken was tasty.

For what was paid we definitely expected better food. I personally expected better as I had eaten there before and thought I knew what to expect. Jury's out on if we'll go back in the future.

Food excellent. Went on Saturday night to hear Jazz. It was great.

Really good first time I ever had shrimp and grits.

Waiter was so friendly

My only complaint bathroom is downstairs not good for someone with any kind of physical disability such a wheelchair, cane, knee problems.

Sorry to see NOLA go! Great place with great music.

Food was good and unique, not many other restaurants in the area serving cajun cuisine, however food is a little overpriced because of that. Good location.

Where else do you eat on Fat Tuesday in Pittsburgh?? NOLA of course. Food is always very good and prices are very fair. Atmosphere is fun! Only complaint was it did not seem that the waiter applied the happy hour prices to our drinks and didn’t notice till after we paid and left . Oh well won’t keep us from going back!

Food was great ambience was perfect. the wife and I had a great time and really enjoyed this place.

Food was good, decor was dated. Server was very engaging. Good spot to go to before a show.

Chef Dave and our waitress Julia were absolutely fantastic. They exceeded our expectations and we look forward to returning to NOLA sometime soon.

The food was excellent and the server was top notch. However the entertainment was a no show. Nice atmosphere.

No live jazz music. It was advertised but never played during our hour and a half dinner. That was one of the main reasons we came. The live music was supposed to start at 8pm and we were finished eating around 9:15. Never heard or saw any live jazz being played. The server was excellent. The food was just okay. Mini crab cakes were delicious! The shrimp and grits was just meh. Pasta was pretty good. Didn’t like our view into the kitchen. Not sure I care to know/see how fresh/not fresh my food is. I could see dirty plates on top of where they were getting the pulled pork from. It was just weird.

We had a wonderful first experience and would love to return! Thank you!

First time being here, won't be my last. The food was good, the atmosphere was lovely but not too nosey and the wait staff was very attentive.

I had the Lousiana pasta - the Cajun spice was just right. My partner had the pasta special - she finished all of it!!! The service was attentive but not overbearing. I'll come back.

We came to NOLA to celebrate my friends birthday & the restaurant basically celebrated with us as if they were our friends. Bravo....the epitome of hospitality from start to finish! The ambiance, was that of the Big Easy with decor & live music that represented the vibe perfectly. The Nouveau Creole menu by Executive Chef David Ellis was filled with choices hard to choose. Soooo we each got something different to taste test & the flavors of each did not disapoint. Not to mention the personalize attention & involvement with our experience. O & the beignets....the beignets ...were delish! Thank you NOLA & special shout our to our Waitress Kaitlyn! Laissez les bon temps rouler! <3

The food was really good, I had the seafood bisque and possibly the best in the city. The service however was very slow. It took us 45 minutes to put in our order and another 30 for our food to show.

Food was excellent, drinks took a bit longer than I thought it should. All in all, an excellent visit. Band was good as well (Neon Swing X-perience)

Great service from Ma’Shay, delicious pasta dish with shrimp, chicken & andouille. Seated in the rear we were able to converse & hear the great music by RML. Plan on returning!

Stopped for happy hour before hockey game. One of the better happy hours in Pittsburgh.

I made reservations with Open Table, and I am glad I did! There was a 20 min. wait at lunch time, but when I said I had a reservation we were seated immediately. Our waiter came over and apologized that there was a delay, but brought our drinks quickly. This place was extremely busy, but our food arrived hot and in a timely manner. Everything was good, the wait staff polite and friendly. Yes, I would recommend.

Went there for dinner before a show last week and the food was fabulous - It came out fast and hot. I really enjoyed dinner. Would go back again.

Enjoyed our New Year’s Eve dinner with family!

I would recommend this restaurant on a regular day but not on a holiday. The NYE menu was condensed and the waiter was rude about telling us why. We spent our evening eating appetizers because no one wants to eat a fried chicken sandwich on New Year’s Eve. The waiter was very neglectful and never made sure we were okay. It was not the best experience.

We used to come here frequently for the vegan options. First, they got rid of their vegan menu. Now, they hardly have anything vegan at all. On NYE, I asked the waiter what they could make vegan and he RUDELY said "a salad". I asked for them to speak to the chef, who thankfully made us a good meal of stuffed peppers.

Further, our reservation was for 9 people (as was confirmed on the phone by their employee). They then called to confirm our reservation was for 5. When I corrected them, they said they couldn't possibly accommodate 9 and refused to do so, even though the day before their employee said 9 was fine. When we went in as a group of 5, we were shocked to see many empty tables!

Needless to say, this was the final straw with NOLA.

Atmosphere was casual and relaxed, food was very good, service was good, but after we had finished our entrees and drinks we were given our bill without being offered the opportunity to consider whether we wanted to order desserts and coffee. We did ask to see a dessert menu and were provided with one, however it seemed that we were being rushed to leave. I could possibly understand being pushed to leave if we had been loud or discourteous, which we were not. Or if we had taken a very long time to eat our food, which was not the case.
I may eat at NOLA again but i will not make reservation to do so and the restaurant will not be a prime consideration in my dining decisions in the future.

Food was excellent. Service was great. Ambiance was likely on a Friday night, and the live music was a great touch. The decor in the restaurant is painfully dated and detracts from the experience. With a remodel, this place could really shine among the restaurants in market square.
