Our table was ready when we checked in, the food was excellent and we had great service!
We were seated in the large room in the back and the noise level was not an issue. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. A manager stopped by and chatted with us. appetizer came very quickly and the meals followed in good time. Had more than enough to eat. Could have taken home if weren't going to Concert. Dessert was extremely delicious! The seasoning on the pasta was wonderful as well as variety of ingredients in the recipe. Pork chop was done to perfection.
I'm a regular for lunch & brunch. Hope new owners maintain the restaurant. Particularly enjoy outdoor lunch.
The Easter menu was exceptional
I researched restaurants before leaving home, the DC area, and Nola came up. What caught my attention was the Crispy Alligator and I was not disappointed.
Food was very good. Chicken and dumplings that I enjoyed comes highly recommended. Not your usual watery chicken dumpling stew. This had whole large pieces of chicken thighs that were savory and nicely seasoned with chunks of carrot and big, moist, and flavorful ricotta dumplings that had just the right amount of nutmeg perhaps? My husband's steak was adequate although it wasn't really blackened properly as he had asked. This was a Saturday evening so the noise level was slightly elevated given that the place was busy and a live band performed. The temperature needed to be better regulated as it was quite warm inside on a brisk March evening.
Got put next to the kitchen, so we asked to be moved because it was too noisy. The waitress declined because other tables were booked. There were about 10 other empty tables and we also had a reservation.
The service was great and the food was amazing as always!
Great service! Live music! Solid food and drink options!
I am in town on business. Another guest at the hotel recommended the restaurant. I ordered shrimp and grits and cobb salad with shrimp. Everything was tasty.
The shrimp roux was a little to spicy for me to eat all of it. I did like the wait the grits were baked solid then seared on each side. I liked that presentation.
Food was great and service was excellent! The menu has many seafood options if you like seafood.
Food was excellent. Service (his name was Rod) was extremely excellent. I would recommend their flatbread (makes a great appetizer also), the shrimp and grits, and the blackened catfish. They also have a nice selection of beer.
The food was bland, nothing special about it, and certainly not reminiscent of New Orleans. The bloody Mary’s on their website are no longer available. Very disappointing brunch. Service was ok and the beignets were good.
Love Nola on the Square’s location and inside ambiance. It was an all around wonderful experience; Jeffrey was a great waiter, fantastic food, and the live entertainment was awesome! We will be back!
Great Cajun food. Music was a little too loud. Should have asked for a table in the back.
Service was very good and the entrees were delicious. Unfortunately, the beignets to cap off the evening were very poor. They were hard and overdone. The waiter did take one order off the bill which was appreciated.
Restaurant had a distinct order of BO, it actually smelled like New Orleans. The entree came out very late and was wrong twice, had to send back and it still wasn’t right. Waitress said she took off some for the hassle, but nothing was reduced or taken off of the bill. Overall very disappointed in this restaurant. Red beans and rice was good as was fried green tomatoes, but nothing else was worth going back.
We had a wonderful experience with our waitress Jessica. We look forward to going another night for date night soon. The restaurant was very accommodating and Jessica went above and beyond what we typical receive as a reaction to an unusual food allergy. We really appreciated her! The food as usual was outstanding!
Great location, terrific service and awesome food!!
Valentine’s Day dinner
A little overpriced, but service was great! Drinks were excellent
Came here for vday. Promptly seated and service was wonderful. The food was presented well and also tasted great ! We will definitely be back.
We went to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Our meals were excellent and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The BBQ oysters were amazing!
I had made reservations on open table. I had requested a table in the bar area even though I knew I probably wouldn't get one but our reservations were for 5:30 which was early but it was Mardi Gras. Our friends arrived before us and they sat them way in the back dining room when there were empty tables in the front area. When we checked in and they took us to our table I asked why we were seated way back in the back dining room since there were empty tables. She told us they were reserved. Well, I had reservations. I did let her know I wasn't happy about it. Not 5 minutes later she came back and said that a table was available in the front area. Why not seat us there to begin with. You cannot reserve particular tables at the restaurant you can just make a reservation. So we had to gather up all our drinks, water glasses and utensils and take them with us. Poor judgement on the hostesses part.
It was Mardi Gras and they were slow and I waited an hour for an alligator app. The manager had multiple visible breakdowns and refused to manage the situation. It was an extremely poor experience, given it was a big day for the restaurant, you’d think they would be better prepared.
The food has went downhill since Nola’s opening and the menu was limited. They used to have a great selection!
Awesome fried gator! Good cocktails, service and food. Will most certainly be back. Oh and those ricotta dumplings were so yummy.
While we indicated on the Open Table reservation that we were celebrating a special occasion, either the hostess missed this detail or the information was not transmitted to the restaurant. A minor detail.
Bumping up against the beginning of Mardi Gras, I was excited to enjoy authentic low-country food in a lively atmosphere. The live music was fun and not over the top. Nice touch. The atmosphere is great, and I must say the service was excellent. But the establishment misses the mark if it wants to be your home for cajun cooking in Pittsburgh.
What I longed for though were dishes like Shrimp Remoulade or Crawfish Etouffee. Fish Creole or Chicken Espangnole. Or, more blackened, anything. While there are dishes like Shrimp and Grits or one version of Jambalaya with Shrimp, a little more creativity with authentic ingredients from the South would be welcome. Gumbo with Crawfish comes to mind.
My Catfish was done well, not overcooked and the sauce was excellent. We left having a satisfying meal but not an inspiring one.
The food was okay but did not wow me.
Our food was outstanding! Our waiter, Evan, was top notched.
Every time we come to Pittsburgh we come here! Love it!
Great atmosphere! Wide variety of cocktails and menu items. The service was insanely quick. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something a little different.
Not very good.
Always a great go-to place for New Orleans inspired cuisine in Pittsburgh with an vibrant atmosphere.
Had the Cajun Catfish! Awesome !
Great service and the food was excellent. Very loud at the bar, making is difficult to hear even louder conversations. I'm assuming if you came to dine, you'd want to be in the other room. We came with a group and it was a great atmosphere, but the bar area was probably not the best for catching up.
Ordered the cous cous from the vegan menu (which I appreciate immensely). Very tasty. But, I requested little to no olive oil, and it came drenched in olive oil. Very good, but staff not adept at modifying for health requests.
My server didn’t communicate specials when I visited on 1/27/18. Had to overhear from another server.
Great food as usual. I really enjoy Nola’s for business meetings. The food is good and the service is quick.
I absolutely always love the atmosphere here. The desserts are enough to keep you coming back. That and the live music and how could I forget the proactive service? The manager came to our table several times to check on us. I absolutely recommend their happy hour menu. Also their fried green tomatoes is a staple.
