Too pricey for the value and the beignets were way off my expectations.
The food was great. The room was very nice. If there was some dixieland or zydeco music playing it would have been just like being in New Orleans. Family loved it, we had a great time.
Shrimp and Grits were very good. Gumbo very salty.
Our server Ian was disappointing. He was very slow and didn't remove plates from table. We arrived at 730 and didn't leave until almost 10. We had to ask other servers to help with drink orders and removing plates and menus. Food and drinks were good not outstanding. Nice live entertainment. Experience world have been excellent if our waiter was better.
We hosted a lunch to honor our manager’s retirement this week - everybody loved their menu choices and the food quality and service were superb!
Food was good but nothing special.
Wine selection was decent and priced about normal.
Servers and hosts were very professional. The place has an open kitchen and the kitchen staff had no consideration for customers. Kitchen staff went out of the way to be noisy with metal bus pans repeatedly crashing to the tile floor only a few feet away from my table. Food was ok, but expensive.
Loud when there's live jazz. You have to like Cajun to enjoy the food. It's quite authentic. Great location!
Was expecting more based on reviews. I’ve been to NOLA...eaten at NOLA influenced restaurants...this is at the low end. Sorry to say. Very “pedestrian” food..no extras..nothing special. We were sat by the kitchen in a large area by ourselves...was very odd. Server was friendly and we had no issues with him. It was overpriced for what you get in my opinion.
Oh and it was for our anniversary which I put as a note on the reservation. Nothing.
The food was much better when I was there a few weeks ago, even though I ordered the same thing. The beans and greens was totally different. I was disappointed.
The food was great. The service was terrible!
We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, crispy outside and the right amount of crunch to the tomatoes- would have liked a little more sauce (maybe on the side) but they were delicious. I really liked my Louisiana Pasta, just the right amount of kick and plenty of sausage and shrimp, I would definitely order this again. My husband had the shrimp PoBoy and although he thought it was good it wasn’t something he would get again. There looked to be plenty of shrimp on it, it may have just been a taste preference. Drink service was a little slow, and although our meal and. Appetizer were spaced well, we waited quite a long time for our check. In our servers defense tho, he was very pleasant but appeared to be the only server in that back room. We enjoyed the music and the atmosphere
Market Square valet service was nearby and worked just fine. We were seated promptly, and the service was excellent for the entire evening. The food and drinks were great.
It was very nice inside. Met friends there to get together- have not seen in a while. Food was great and service was great. Only thing that was not nice was the music- it was ok music. But just way too loud. Couldn’t hear my friends.
Great food. Great service. Will be back again soon.
Worst service of any restaurant in Pittsburgh. Food was fantastic, but no excuse for the service, including the manager, who couldn’t be bothered to do anything but stand next to the cash register and slick his hair. Service issues: didn’t bring second glass of wine, no spoon with soup (didn’t come back for 10 minutes), didn’t ask us how we would like oysters prepared or how many and could not tell us market price (just that they “went by threes”, which we assumed meant $X per three oysters, but he couldn’t solve for X), no horseradish with oysters, no hot sauce with oysters, no crackers with oysters; asked for the last three things and they were brought one at a time about ten minutes apart, except for hot sauce that never came. No water refills. Dinner brought earlier than appetizers finished. Appetizer plate never taken away. Whenever the waiter forgot something and we asked for it, he gave us finger guns and told us “Yeah, right on”. At the end of the meal, he asked me if I needed a box and tossed one to me instead of boxing it up himself. When I spend $20+ per plate, plus drinks, salads, and appetizers, I expect good service and to be treated respectfully. It made sense that it was empty. We will never be back.
The food is great but the service is meh... lots of auctioning off of dishes and waiters asking you to hand them things instead of picking them up from you.
The food was delicious and service great.
$23 Catfish dinner lacked catfish. $16 Pulled pork sandwich lacked pork. PATHETIC
The food was really good. I had the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich, which had a nice, slow, flavorful burn. My wife had the Louisiana pasta, which was also delicious. The cocktails were well priced and packed a nice punch. NOLA on the Square is a good place to stop before seeing a Broadway show or before the symphony.
Nola has been our go-to downtown restaurant before we go to a show. On Saturday, 4.6, our experience was fine but not amazing. We loved our entrees - catfish dinner. We did oysters Rockefeller which was laid on a thick bed of salt which added way too much salt to the dish. We also ended with the traditional beignets which were disappointingly small compared to past times we've gotten them. After a 3 course dinner and spending over $70 we were still hungry.
I ordered the Crawfish Broil and it was both fun and messy to eat. I don't know anywhere else in Pittsburgh where you can get crawfish. My favorite component of the meal was the corn on the cob. The seasoning on the corn was delicious. I enjoy coming to Nola and look forward to my next visit.
The beignets were very disappointing, nothing like what you would eat in New Orleans. They were small and hollow, not fluffy and funnel cake-like. The oysters were OK but again not like New Orleans.
Love the round tables for a larger group! Food is excellent and the sandwich/salad/soup boards with the awesome voodoo fries are a great lunch choice!
Nice ambiance with live jazz and very good Cajun food. Great place for a night out.
Good food & drinks.
It would have been much better had our waiter felt like being there the night we visited. He clearly was over his entire life by the time we got there at 6:00pm on a Saturday. He was borderline rude and basically would start saying something as he was literally walking away. It was jarring.
Food and atmosphere were very good! Service (from hostess to waiter) were disappointing overall. We would return for the food though!
Great food and a courteous staff that makes for an enjoyable casual night out.
We were disappointed to discover there is no longer a Sunday Brunch menu. We always looked forward to that before shows in the cultural district. The overall rating would have been higher with the brunch option.
The food great, the alligator appetizer was extraordinary!
The crawfish was not very tasty.
Excellent service, excellent food. I would definitely go back.
The food was excellent, I had the chicken and dumplings, the chicken was moist and tender and the ricotta dumplings literally melted in my mouth.
Great experience... family thoroughly enjoyed everything!
Took wayyyyy to long to get our meals.
Good service and good food. Atmosphere is ok but busy, as one would expect for a restaurant in Market Square.
Went there for Mardi Gras!! They had beads and masks for the occasion. Also yummy food! Only downside is that it's kinda pricey.
Great experience, a bit expensive but worth it. The craw-fish boil was amazing!
Very enjoyable! Did expect a little more carnival atmosphere 2 days before Mardi Gras though.
