Noir Lounge is amazing. The server couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. GO!
Very nice restaurant, at a convenient walking distance from the San Francisco Symphony. The food and the service were very good and the noise level very low.
The crab cakes and the meatballs were worth ordering as the main course. They are small portions but are very filling. The cocktails are also very good.
very nice staff. fun atmosphere, interesting and tasty food. No coffee available, yet. we've returned twice, so you can tell we like it a lot.
Noir Lounge has a great vibe and atmosphere!
We came with a group of friends and the waiters were very friendly but the service was less than desirable.
3 times we ordered drinks and people were missed, pretty much every time we wanted another round or needed a drink we had to flag someone down to serve us.
Because of the size of our party they automatically got a 20% tip ....not sure it was deserved for the poor service 😬
Our first time and we will definitely go back. Nice small plate options. Unbelievable flourless chocolate cake!! Loud when we arrived, but our server kindly turned down the music and after that it was fine for conversation.
The food was nothing to really write home about, but the ambiance was nice and the service was decent. Given nothing is particularly cheap, I'll probably not be back.
We were favorably impressed by the drinks and food. It was an interesting ambiance as well.
Absolutely amazing spot! Great atmosphere
Convenient for pre-symphony (four-block walk), but dinner menu was limited. We had the crab cakes, with bits of crab very hard to discern but with a very nice and tasty sauce, and a pair of sliders (lamb and pulled pork). The lamb was dry and overcooked; the pork was tastier. The menu price was $7 for each slider or two for $13, but we were charged separately $7 each for our two sliders. The wine list had some unusual choices, but not nearly as many as one would expect from a wine bar--no flights offered, for example. There was quite a bit of a wait before someone came to take our order, but after that, service was prompt and friendly.
I like it conceptually - it’s a lounge vibe restaurant and bar but wasn’t actually a lounge. They’ve moved some furniture around so it feels less like a lounge.
My main complain was that they was a homeless man using the facilities as if it were his home and I get that homelessness is a problem in SF but I firmly believe in patrons only facilities because it’s quite unpleasant for a dining experience to feel like I’m the intruder in a homeless man’s house.
Otherwise they were really mellow about everything else and it’s a great casual place for get togethers.
The ambience is very cool. The service staff also attentive & friendly but the food.... very mediocre. They need to hire a good chef. It’s not often that I don’t like the food in SF since everyone has a high bar but this place really needs to take it up several notches in terms of quality of food.
The food wasn’t great...$18 for brushetta, $20 for flatbreads. Overcooked pasta. Overall, very mediocre food for above-average SF prices
This was our first foray to Noir. The only hitch was that we made our reservation through OpenDoor and they couldn’t locate it. Dining starts at 5, our reservation was for 5, and initially the manager wanted us to sit in the bar and not dining area because of “other” reservations that would need those tables. My question, “did people specifally request ALL of the tables in the dining area?” The answer was no, so why not accommodate the people who were there, right then? It took way more effort than it should have, to get a table in the dining area, and not to mention we were told we’d have to vacate the table by 6 in order that they could accommodate later reservations...Really? Nice way to welcome your first diners of the evening. Our waiter Chris was very apologetic and service was great. We left about 6:20, and only 2 tables had arrived. Message to management? Appreciate the bird in hand and making a good first impression, because for a few minutes we thought about taking our business somewhere else since we felt we were being greeted like second class guests. Furthermore, if admonishing your staff, and having a meltdown moment rightly so or not, don’t do it in front of patrons, we don’t need to see or hear that. All that aside, it is a unique environment with very tasty cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. We’ll be back and next time stay for dinner.
The decor is great. The food was OK to low average. The service was the worst I have experienced in a long, long time. The manager did apologize for the bad services and adjusted to bill. Still not a place I would return to.
We ordered the strawberry salad. It was too salty. The custom cocktails were nothing special. The fried chicken was good.
This was our second time to Noir Lounge, and while we enjoyed it, we found that some of the items on the menu we wanted were not available, or they brought us the wrong item after we ordered it. Nonetheless, we still had a fun experience with friends and we'd be willing to go back to see if it was just a fluke that evening. The cocktails were well made, but everything took a long time to get to our table. I really enjoy the space, especially the cozy backroom, and the shareable plates were enjoyable.
Waited for a server to take our order. They never came. We left
The food was fantastic however the service was the worst we have experienced in the US.
We were also very disappointed that there were no old movies playing as this was why we had especially picked this venue for dinner given their advertising.
Loud & over run with awful ppl
I used to love this place a few years back, but I went tonight with 3 friends who hadn’t previously been there and it was a disaster
We showed up and were told that we only had a reservation for 2 people, not 4 (I checked, we had reserved for 4). Claiming they didn’t have a reserved table for us, they put us in the main dining area at a round table with 5 chairs, not 4. We spent the whole meal with a 5th chair at our table.
It took us a good 20 minutes before a waitress came to us (they were clearly understaffed). We gave our order, clearly meaning to share. Despite this, we were not told what in our order came in 2, 3, or 4 portions, leaving us with an odd number of items in multiple dishes.
The waitress didn’t know the wine list, and there was no one on staff who did. The wine was nothing to write home about either – we ended up sending the first bottle we ordered back as it had an odd, sour taste (not cork taint).
When the waitress dropped off the cheese plate, we weren’t told which cheeses were which. The cheeses were nothing special – three of the four were quite similar, and they were all pretty bland. Overall, food itself was okay, but for the price it was poor.
It was quite a disappointing experience.
Fantastic selection of small bites! Very vibrant bar and great cocktails. A speakeasy atmosphere!
We're from Virginia, but after our first trip to San Francisco last year, this became my favorite restaurant of all time and an absolute must for every trip to San Francisco.
Unique, great atmosphere, excellent service
The food was okay, nothing special or worth the price. It was the first time I've ever had to send back a drink.
Noir Lounge is hip without trying to be. It has a totally unpretentious vibe. The food was great and reasonably priced. The fried chicken was outstanding and came with a delicious sweet dipping sauce. In a city of over priced restaurants trying to be trendy, this place is a gem.
A delightful evening. A cozy jazz themed bar/restaurant. A menu full of interesting dishes, that are well prepared and served by a staff that was attentive and thoroughly delightful. The dishes seemed to be more of the small plate variety, rather than big heavy entrees. My wife and I had a good time picking out a variety and sharing. Also, be sure and look at some of their specialty drinks....they are worth it. We will go back.
Service was very slow, and the bathroom was very dirty and smelly. Aside from that, the music, decor, lighting and buzz were as great as I remember from my first visit when Noir Cafe debuted.
Had a weird experience walking into the restaurant; was told to sit anywhere and not asked if we had a reservation so we sat ourselves, despite having a reservation. Had to keep calling over servers who were evidently in a rush and hard to get the attention of. Food was good but just a weird experience.
Good times with the ladies
It was great but the table next to us was super loud
Booked a table for dinner for four on New Year's Eve. We were seated at bar table with bar stools, which I hadn't expected and didn't love, but it was NYE, and I had booked the table that morning, so I wasn't going to complain. We were happy to have a reservation! Everything was great- food, drinks, and service for the most part. I say 'for the most part' because our server who started the meal forgot to put in the order for a few drinks and one additional flatbread that we had ordered, and we had to ask someone to check on both. We never ended up seeing our server again- the woman who had been clearing plates throughout dinner ended up finishing out our experience: dropped the check, etc. So we're not sure what happened. In the end, it only barely registered as a negative because everything else was great! My husband and I have been a few times previously for cocktails and appetizers and have been very happy with the experience every time. Definitely recommend!
Comfort food surprisingly good. Very accommodating for pre-theater scheduling. Shout out to Jess, who made it happen for us when an unexpected event caused us to be late due to traffic and parking issues. We ordered from the online menu by phone from the car, and our food was waiting for us at our table. She made sure that we got our drinks made quickly and checked in a few times while we were dining. Now that's great service!
My boyfriend and I were going on a special symphony date, and we wanted to grab dinner in the area. We wanted to find something that was a little spendy yet still worth the value, and with a romantic ambiance. Noir Lounge fit the bill. We started with the cheese board, which came with a delicious pear jelly. Yum. We then had the prosciutto-wrapped asparagus and the wild mushroom flatbread. I was pleased to find that the flatbread was more like a regular pizza. I loved the arugula, and the truffle oil added a deep flavor. Very yum.
I loved the ambiance. Very romantic. It was dark and sexy; it had a 20s speakeasy vibe. I loved it. I'd highly recommend this for a date spot.
LOVE the live music. Too little good quality live music in SF. Dining in the back, away from the music is also a good idea.
Lovely setting but the food is over priced for what it is. The “gourmet tots” were literally regular tater tots served with regular ketchup. Kinda expected more there. Overall the food was average but the server was really nice.
We were thrilled to discover this fun, cool lounge for our girls' night out! Great drinks, great service, perfect munchies, unique ambiance... I can't wait to go back!
I took a friend for a thank you dinner and wanted to try something new. I thoroughly enjoyed Noir Lounge. The menu is perfect for sharing. I love the decor and atmosphere. Unfortunately, it was a hot evening and I couldn't bear to sit inside any longer, so I didn't stay stay for after dinner drinks to listen to the piano. Though, I will absolutely be back on a more mild night.
This is one of my favorite places to go to in the city. I've been here twice and would recommend to anyone in the area.
Love the atmosphere of this place. Deep leather chairs, noir movie going in the background. Can't wait to go back.
Good for large groups and happy hour but a little overpriced.
