Wished for a quick bite before the concert at the Civic Center... we found the seating uncomfortable...high top tables are difficult for older people...also very cold and drafty. Our "reserved" table was in front of a permanently open door. The menu was interesting and the food and service quite good. The cocktails however were virtually absent of liquor...and added $30 to the bill! Overall, we'll choose differently next time.
Ordering was disorganized using their app. Too loud to hear conversations without shouting. If one person starts ordering through their app and leaves their tab open, the order from everyone else at the same table end up on the first person’s tab. How hard is it to break down the orders based on different phone numbers?
Red flags from the start when the person "greeting" us had no idea if they accepted reservations. We were seated in a dimly lit back area that was filthy and reeked of stale burned frying oil. The phone app menu system was impossible to use for ordering. We should have left at this point but the waiter who eventually showed up took our order after almost half an hour. We didn't order much but the food took another half an hour to arrive. I must say it wasn't bad, but it was so dark that you couldn't really see what you were eating. One of the dishes took so long that we canceled it. Another waiter then brought the dish and we told him we had already canceled it. Zero team communication. Our waiter was in way over his head, though he was trying hard. Just couldn't get it right. Sad. The check we got was clearly for another table so we had to waste more time straightening that out. In the meantime we both were grossed out by the grimy disgusting bathroom. Gross. Both of us said it was the worst restaurant experience we'd had in years. Would NEVER go back. AWFUL.
The place had a great vibe…we were with my mom for her 70th bday and they could not accommodate her with a real menu. They only had the QR code. I believe this is such a hassle for some folks and takes away from
The customer service aspect of the experience. our waiter did the bare min to help explain. And we were the first folks in the place. More needs to be done to help navigate this issue.
The food was good not great. Seemed our waiter left us to tend bar without communication and since it was all done via QR code we barely saw him. I was hoping a movie was playing but nothing. Never
The less a
Good spot before catching a show at the at sf jazz center
Lovely spot! Working out how to see the menu was a little tricky but we eventually figured it out!
The hostess and bartender were warm and accommodating. We were short on time and only had appetizers this visit but always remembered their entrees as meeting our expectations. The cocktails are always pleasing to our eyes and mouths.
Perfect after work gathering. Decent food good drinks.
saw the maltese falcon for the 37th time
made my evening
Really cool place with great cocktails
food was excellent, great wine and beer options, super engaged and friendly server. really liked the look and feel of the venue, bit it was a little on the loud side
Interesting place. We had to look for someone to seat us, and our waitress disappeared. The food was uneventful. It seems as if they are trying so hard to establish an artsy atmosphere at the expense of food quality and service.
It was too dark.
This was the perfect place to celebrate my friends birthday! It had a great atmosphere and vibe. The drinks were great, food was great and service was great! I will be returning for sure and I would totally suggest this place to anyone.
We expected a cozy ‘40s’ atmosphere as advertised. Not so much! There was a Christmas party going on, and ambient music was loud. But the service was friendly and the food very good. We had the batter fried chicken and chimichuri steak frite, both excellent, and flourless chocolate cake to die for. The first Manhattan cocktail was too sweet, the second more on point. Over all a very good meal.
It was ok for a nosh, much better for cocktails. All in all a little too harried and crowded, but it was Friday night.
Great comfort food but Way way too loud
They didn’t have the reservation, and had to pull tables together at the last minute for us. Very slow at taking orders, many drinks never showed up, never returned check on empty glasses, entrees came out 20 minutes apart, so food was cold by the time we all got it. By the time we asked for the check, we’d given up on more cocktails.
Loved the atmosphere, we were a table of 6. We ate only apps and they were all fabulous!!
My family dined at noir lounge before going to the theater. First, it was incredibly stuffy and hot. But I don’t blame the restaurant as we’re in a heat spell- but there are no windows or ventilation so it’s challenging. The food was mediocre. I ordered the peach salad and got a plate full of frizee lettuce and a few slivers of peach for a high price. Bruschetta was good as were crab cakes. The stuffed mushrooms were a modest offering with 4 tiny mushroom caps with high price. I adore Brussels sprouts and ones I ordered were shredded not whole. There was a decent amount of bacon thrown in but they were very dry with little taste. The best thing I ordered was the flourless chochalate cake- simply Divine- probably not made in house. The service was friendly and outstanding. Super attentive on our drinks and food brought out promptly. That made the overall experience good. But, I don’t see this place as a restaurant destination. It’s on the hip, busy portion of Hayes st and the vibe is dark, bar/lounge with cool design. She spit to grab a drink and snack before theater.
It was very hot as there was no AC which means the place was a sauna. The service was very slow and not proactive. They didn't have 80% of the wine list.
Wonderful gem in Hayes Valley!
Fantastic serving staff, delicious food & drinks and great ambient music in the background. Thank You!
Love this place other than them charging $2 for ice, no seriously, they charge for ice in your drink. I think you can find a better spot somewhere more reasonable
Great drinks and food. If our server was better, I would have given 5 stars.
The service was attentive and charming, the food superb.
A lovely spot to get drinks before dinner! The ambience is cozy, and the appetizers as well as the drinks are great. Will be coming back!
for people who cannot eat onions.. NOT the place to go. A very bizarre pairing of some type of Italian Bruschetta sauce with the Fried Chicken… totally wrong.... No wine list, we asked about buying a bottle, and were told just multiply each glass if you wanted more.. We were told the wine list was being "reworked",
Totally a rip-off for drinkers..
would not recommend. Period!!!!
In an upscale area, this place should bite the dust shortly.
although, it was a lively drinking spot when we left..... who knew!!!
The food was fine but the noise level was clinically a threat to ones hearing
Jess our host/waitress was AMAZING! She made us feel welcome and is such a people person!
Noir Lounge sells well online. In person, I could see how some may dislike their experience. Service was awesome. The lone server made a valiant effort in ensuring the entire place was served in as timely a manner as she could. Kudo's to her!!
Food - not bad, but certainly nothing exciting or in some cases, interesting. We shared the meat/cheese boards. Great selections, but for $36, not even close to in worth. The flatbreads were well constructed and tasted good. But again, nothing out of line with what one would find elsewhere. The drinks were interesting. The complexity was not such that a bartender was required, as we saw the lone server making a few herself. And one particular 'mezcal' based drink had a less than savory odor, enhanced by the glassware it was served in. Made it difficult to finish the last drop.
The ambience was nice. The space was beautiful. The piano player was energetic and played for at least an hour, non-stop. We did not see the 'old films' playing, but perhaps that was another nights program. A decent place, but for the overall price, San Francisco is packed with similar and in many cases, better choices.
Noir Lounge is amazing. The server couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. GO!
Very nice restaurant, at a convenient walking distance from the San Francisco Symphony. The food and the service were very good and the noise level very low.
The crab cakes and the meatballs were worth ordering as the main course. They are small portions but are very filling. The cocktails are also very good.
very nice staff. fun atmosphere, interesting and tasty food. No coffee available, yet. we've returned twice, so you can tell we like it a lot.
Noir Lounge has a great vibe and atmosphere!
We came with a group of friends and the waiters were very friendly but the service was less than desirable.
3 times we ordered drinks and people were missed, pretty much every time we wanted another round or needed a drink we had to flag someone down to serve us.
Because of the size of our party they automatically got a 20% tip ....not sure it was deserved for the poor service 😬
Our first time and we will definitely go back. Nice small plate options. Unbelievable flourless chocolate cake!! Loud when we arrived, but our server kindly turned down the music and after that it was fine for conversation.
The food was nothing to really write home about, but the ambiance was nice and the service was decent. Given nothing is particularly cheap, I'll probably not be back.
We were favorably impressed by the drinks and food. It was an interesting ambiance as well.
Absolutely amazing spot! Great atmosphere
Convenient for pre-symphony (four-block walk), but dinner menu was limited. We had the crab cakes, with bits of crab very hard to discern but with a very nice and tasty sauce, and a pair of sliders (lamb and pulled pork). The lamb was dry and overcooked; the pork was tastier. The menu price was $7 for each slider or two for $13, but we were charged separately $7 each for our two sliders. The wine list had some unusual choices, but not nearly as many as one would expect from a wine bar--no flights offered, for example. There was quite a bit of a wait before someone came to take our order, but after that, service was prompt and friendly.
I like it conceptually - it’s a lounge vibe restaurant and bar but wasn’t actually a lounge. They’ve moved some furniture around so it feels less like a lounge.
My main complain was that they was a homeless man using the facilities as if it were his home and I get that homelessness is a problem in SF but I firmly believe in patrons only facilities because it’s quite unpleasant for a dining experience to feel like I’m the intruder in a homeless man’s house.
Otherwise they were really mellow about everything else and it’s a great casual place for get togethers.
