Nobu Palo Alto
Good restaurant, given the other choices in the area. If you have been to other Nobu locations, this one still has the high quality food, but the atmosphere and environment aren't quite up to the same standard.
So loud. Would help if the music was turned off.
But food was excellent. Help staff gave good recommendations and were very accommodating. We stayed at the hotel in Palo Alto, which was very comfortable. I'm sure it would be even better when the lobby construction is done.
The half of food is ok, but service is pretty slow, also the music is terrible(noisy and loud)
Really surprised by the rather plain decor. Staff was good but very disappointed by how slow the food preparation was. We ordered the Omakase and it took 45 minutes for the dessert to be prepared.
We went for a Birthday celebration and just let the waiter order and bring us whatever he thought we'd like to eat/drink. The food was AMAZING! What a treat for sure but a treat you will pay for dearly.
My girlfriend and I have dined at A LOT Japanese restaurants at different price points. Nobu is quite disappointing, very overpriced, the food is okay. Somehow the waiter can't hear me really well and I had to repeat everything. I would probably give it a four star, if it was only 1/3 the price. But we definitely expect more for the price we paid.
Our server was really nice. They were out of most of their bottles of wine, and when we found one to order it had s bad cork, so it kind of killed the experience. But the waiter was great. The food was good, pretty presentation. The ambience, meh. It’s very bleak inside the restaurant, and loud.
Great Food and Service. However not the best value once you factor in the cost.
Birthday dinner for my daughter and we had brought a toddler. Everyone enjoyed their meal including the little one. The omikase is the way to go for NObu! You definitely do not go hungry !!!! Delicious all around and a friendly staff!!
Unique dishes. Fresh sushi. Wonderful treat for birthday celebration!
This is the third Nobu location we have been to, and it completely underwhelmed us. To start with, it's a small restaurant, with overly simple table settings. The service was great, and the Oni Negroni we had to start with was very nice, and the wine list was acceptable, other than the very over-priced Nobu sake selection. The shishito peppers and okra appetizers were also passable. Things fell apart for the sushi dishes. We had several rolls, including a daily special with salmon, and we were more than disappointed. The quality of the toro in one of the signature rolls was average at best. The waiter's recommended black cod with sauce (a signature Nobu dish), was also just so-so. This was clearly an example of a world-renowned chef stretching the brand beyond the capability to assure quality. This is the last time that we will go to Nobu Palo Alto, and would have to be really persuaded to attend one of his other locations. What a shame!
My wait person mansplained to me a lot. It was very difficult for us to communicate. The noise from the street also made it hard to hear.
Food was good but overpriced. You’re paying for the name and experience.
Slightly slow, one order was partially misunderstood and bottled water is definitely overpriced. Amazing cocktails and high quality sashimi.
The lobster was amazing everything was so good I will be back
It was the best experience. We will definitely make another reservation.
The best sushi we’ve had in a long time! Very fresh, everything was amazing! Wonderful service as well!
I came here to celebrate my beau’s birthday. The music was loud. Food wasn’t as great for the price as shown. However servers were attentive & a birthday greeting on his dessert plate made it little special.
Absolutely fantastic would defiantly go there again - food was fabulous as well as the service
Great dinner. Food was amazing! Service was impeccable. All of the dishes were really well paced/timed with the exception of the filet at the end for which there was a bit of an extended wait (maybe the kitchen got busy then?) - - but it was so good that it was definitely worth the wait. Had food mostly off of the classic menu and all was really well executed. Had a nice table in the corner which was perfect, but it was still pretty noisy. Really wonderful dinner.
It is not a Nobu experience, the food was average , slow service ... the trip to the restrooms is just not acceptable for a restaurant of this category
Not going back
First time to Nobu and it was as wonderful as it's reputation. Everything was just perfection from the service to the food. I highly recommend the dover sole, with crispy spinach and the filet. Fabulous!!
Nobu is an elegant place with elegant food. it’s not too fussy and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The food was outstanding and we appreciated the server's selections that she made for us. However, gaps in service between courses were long. It's a much smaller place than other Nobu locations but service at those locations were fast. But, we really enjoyed the food and our servers were courteous and polite. Didn't like the fact that valet parking was gone. Stopped at the place where valet used to be and then was admonished that I couldn't park there. I said I wasn't parking but stopping for valet. Girl could have been more polite about it.
Nobu Palo Alta is amazing as always ! Sea Bass was cooked to perfection , king salmon sashimi, uni, tempura king crab and lychee martini were phenomenal! Great Service and music was also on point. Love this Nobu location!
We love the delicious tastes of Japanese wirh some Peruvian influence dishes! Well done chefs!
Wow, we had the best sushi I've ever tasted. I'm not a "sushi" fan but if it tastes as it did at Nobu, I'm converted.
I enjoyed the food at Nobu, even though the portions were minuscule and way over priced.
The food was good as it always is, but the service was slow and the food came out in a strange order, the boof dish so late that we almost cancelled it. Overall good, service can be better and the prices are very high for what you are getting.
The waitress was very helpful and assisted with amounts, pacing and sequencing of the mean in order to achieve the best experience.
The place is noisy. They require reservations, even when there are plenty of empty tables. The food is very good, but the portions are quite small, so be prepared to order large number of items. Lastly, it is a rather expensive place, so prepare to spend. There are so many other places in the SF Bay Area to dine where the food, ambiance, and value is better. We just wanted to try Nobu for its historic value, and check off another one for the old bucket list. Now we are off to try other places.
Great food and service. But they insist on playing Thumpa Thumpa music at very high volume. Would be so much nicer with calm Japanese and/or Peruvian music.
Have eaten at Nobu Palo Alto before, as well as Nobu in NYC, LA, and Honolulu. Food excellent, service competent, wine list good but pricey. Music was way too loud, though. Should play softer volumes so people can hear each other better.
great service and food, just very pricey but understood why.
Very cool place but incredibly expensive and there was not enough WIW moments to justify the expense
Cool that Steph and Ayesha were there and no one bothered them.
There are so many great less expensive restaurants in Palo Alto but glad I tried this once to determine what all the fuss was about.
The lobster dish was not good - unacceptably expensive for a few bites drowned in sauce at 69$
The rest of the food was very good
Very loud and lots of kids. Food is good but hard to have a conversation.
The food was amazing and we enjoyed our night. However, I was really disappointed with the service. We had to wait 25 mins to be seated even though I had a reservation. Then, the waiter forgot to bring 2 of the dishes that we ordered and they weren’t able to cook anything for us anymore since it was too late (which is not our fault since our reservation was at 9 and we were seated at 9:25 and the kitchen was closing).
We loved the food. It was unfortunate that the service was so fast. We went out for a relaxing romantic dinner, but it felt so rushed and stressful.
