We felt treated ‘like a number’ with no cordial interaction or attempt to engage. Entree’s came out staggered, fish was not cooked through. Meh.
So good. We have slowly become very particular on our sushi places after a couple years of going to our authentic local place in Seattle. But Nobu exceeded expectations as everything we ordered was perfect.
It was a wonderful lunch and we really enjoyed it.
You know when you great service when you don’t have to wave down a waiter to refill something simple as glass of water. Food is great too as there are many non sushi inspired meals.
Service was way too slow. 20 minutes for a cocktail...nope. Had 2...probably would have had 4 but it took too long. Food was good tho.
The Service was excellent and food was delicious. It was a great way to celebrate my friend’s birthday.
Awful experience. Celebrated my law firm partner’s birthday @ Friday lunch. This was the land of zombies. Slow service, always needed to flag the server either to order or to clean up the table. The birthday candle was extremely transactional and clinical, not welcoming, fun or cheerful. The front desk girls deserve a special -1 Star post. IQ of a telephone pole but with diva attitudes. None of them were nice, accommodating or hospitable. I am not sure what Nobu recruitment policy is, but if the front desk staff represents Nobu’s values, I am not coming back. So disappointing, next time I will spend $450 for lunch somewhere else.
Our server Sheila was fantastic. Great guidance on all the wonderful options.
Newport Beach Omakase was a great experience, added a few extra appetizers. Excellent.
My husband and I chose Nobu for our 5-year anniversary dinner and they did not disappoint!! Amazing dining experience with excellent service - we did the Newport tasting Omakase and it was perfectly timed and the flavors were deliciously paired. Truly a night to remember!!
Amazing location and ambience
Service was good. Food was excellent.
We have dined at the Nobu in Malibu many times in the past and thought we would try the Newport Beach location for a birthday celebration. We were a little disappointed as we do not feel the Newport location is as enjoyable as the Malibu location maybe we had different expectations not sure. It was enjoyable but not to the level of the Malibu location.
We were seated at the Sushi Bar - It took 15 minutes and 2 requests for Menus and Water. Upon delivering the waiter disappeared again did not return. After 10 more minutes we flagged down a different waitress who offered to be our server for the evening. Changed the experience from Unacceptable and ready to walk out to ok. Sonja was great but her predeessor left a terrible impression on a night that wasn't busy.
Fantastic service very friendly staff amazing food
Fantastic location. Great ambiance but very mediocre food. I would say chef Nobu ought to have a deep look into the quality of food here. I don’t mind a high cost for excellent quality but felt the sushi was severely lacking in taste and quality. The hot dishes perhaps slightly better but definitely not of the caliber I expected
Super expensive, very small portions. Not sure what makes 5 prices dollar amount
Wow!!! The best place and the best food
Definitely overpriced, over the years I think the value of Nobu has really gone down hill. Used to enjoy it much more. The food is still phenomenal but not sure if it’s worth it for the price.
Food is good but no better than any decent Japanese restaurant. Service laid back and imprecise. Price performance is awful.
Hoy tenían braunch y verdaderamente decepcionarle no tendrían que hacerlo así de mal pues es Nobu no cualquier restaurante.Da pena la calidad y variedad de comida que ponen, estado en otros braunch de otros Nobu y nada que ver.
Was our first time off of a recommendation. Not sure I understand why you do not get menus when you sit down..the first few minutes of your dining experience are key. I want to view the menu while sipping my cocktail. Not here.
It was an extraordinary event! Gastronomic experience. Max was terrific. Extremely accommodating in dietary requests. Presentation incredible!
Great view and over the top fabulous food! I have loved every Nobu have eaten at and look forward to eating at more.
The waiter did not pay attention to details, brought few wrong orders, the service was very slow at this time, not focused and with an attitude. At the end waiter brought someone else credit card yo sign the bill?! Really? Felt like everyone were high there on Tuesday night.. what is a shame. This place is not cheap..
We ate and drank for 5hours. Amazing time
Beware of blacking out our anticipate an AML NN situation.
Awesome service and the food was amazing. I know now a big fan of sake.
Nobu in Newport is very accommodating, and everything we ordered was superb!
I think the service could have been better. When you are spending quite a bit for the food the service should be equivalent.
Ary was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and her suggestions were spot on!
The food was the best I’ve ever had. The service was phenomenal. Our server was so helpful and took the time to go through explaining courses and giving exceptional recommendations based on our preferences. We did end up with a $400 check, eek. But it was sooo delicious I will likely return for special occasions.
Food and drinks were EXCELLENT!! Had a great time and will be back!!
Food was excellent. It is very expensive but no regrets. Server was fully knowledgable to menu. Nightclub music downstairs took a little away but not enough to ding.
My wife and I have eaten at Nobu many times. We prefer a 4:30 reservation. Get a drink and enjoy the view. At 5 happy hour begins for an hour. We order dinner at very good prices and enjoy another drink. It's not for everyone, but it works for us. We live five minutes away from Nobu so enjoy it often. The full menu starts at 6 at regular prices upstairs. We also enjoy that. However, it seems that the service is better downstair. We eat outside most of the time, upstairs and downstairs. My favorite on the menu is "new style sashimi".
Great experience would def recommend friends and family
Warm, friendly staff, excellent food (as always)
The waiter spilled water/alcohol on me and we ordered a drink with the manager right after and it took forever to get it. Not a great experience for our first time and special occasion.
My partner and I had been discussing taking an evening out at the Newport Nobu for several weeks but had hesitated to make the reservation because of several less than stellar reviews targeting almost every feature of the restaurant, service, noise level, and quality of food. Nonetheless, we very much wanted to give it a try. We arrived at our reservation time, 6:30 pm, and were rather lackadaisically directed “upstairs,” where we were immediately seated in a choice location, looking right out onto the harbor. Water was delivered instantly and we ordered a bottle of wine and a Beefeater gin martini up. The wine arrived quickly and the wine service was quite proper. However, after ten minutes, our waitress returned to inform me that the vodka I had specified was not available. I looked at my partner in wonderment. Not an auspicious start. After another ten minutes, which gave my partner and me plenty of time to strategize our meal, I received a Tanqueray martini up. Good enough. Discussing our options with our waitress, though with some trepidations arising from the gin//vodka mix up, we settled on an omakase menu. Now the experience became WONDERFUL. Each of the eight courses verged on the exquisite, the stars being the fluke and the yellowtail sashimis, the black cod in an exceptional broth and the tuna on crispy rice cake. The pacing suited our mood. Our waitress turned out to be a gem, though I must say that she was supported by a well-trained staff. The wine list gets expensive rather quickly, but good, less costly bottles are available. As to the tariff: Everyone knows an evening at Nobu will be a relatively expensive proposition, but my partner and I believe we received excellent value on this occasion. Once we got beyond the far less than enthusiastic greeting at the hostess desk and the confusion regarding the martini, the evening was as lovely as could be and exceeded expectations. In fact, we feel it was quite memorable.
