I’ve reviewed Nobu Honolulu more times then I can remember. For this review I just want to mention one dish. This is a destination dish elevated to the highest level in dishdom. While living most of my life in NYC my wife and I couldn’t wait for soft shell crab season. We would buy them and create amazing dishes or go to our best fish restaurants and have them there. When we found out last night that Nobu had acquired fresh soft shell crab from Maryland we were told that the chef could create a tempura grapefruit etc. etc. etc. ??? dish or one with a curry base. We ended up with two dishes. Two of the greatest fish culinary masterpieces we’ve ever had. And with our server, Eduardo Help we had an amazing feast.
Eating at Nobu has been one of the most memorable eating experiences. My boyfriend and I went there for our 5 year anniversary, so our expectations were set pretty high from the start. Since it was our first time there, we both tried the Nobu Honolulu Tasting. It was a 7 course meal of cold and hot dishes. The sushi was amazing! I'm usually hesitant on have ika (squid) in sushi form, but it was so soft, I was amazed! We also had wagyu beef as one of the finishing course, which melted in our mouths. We are definitely going to go again for another special occasion.
Everything was awesome
Very nice meal and service beyond expectations!
Had a wonderful experience at this Nobu. Everyone from the hostess to the servers were friendly and professional. Our waiter made some excellent recommendations- the spiny lobster tempura was very good! They don’t offer the bento box meal options as other locations, but we still enjoyed all the choices we had.
Overpriced but surprisingly large portions per entree. Pork belly was prepared too fatty/rich for my liking. Sushi was ok. Service was ok.
I have found Nobu to be hit and miss on service but the food is always consistent. Tonight food and service were excellent, the only miss was the hostess. This is the third time I have arrived to a well staffed hostess/host station that isn’t busy but I still receive a luke warm reception. Never sure why that is. This time they even marked me as a now show for my open table reservation. Very strange.
front end called several times to confirm reservation..close to be annoying
Consistent with all the Nobu restaurants globally, it is always fabulous!
Outstanding in every way. The dining room is beautiful. The outdoor lounge is really nice for cocktails. We went twice on our 8 day vacatoin in Honolulu. Tables were not hard to get as the location is not in Wakiki and its a good size restaurant. It was nice to be able to get a table with no problem.
Service was ok but we expected exceptional
Food quality not worth the price but service was excellent
Loved the outdoor bar and service was amazing as usua !
Dining at Nobu should’ve been a culinary highlight of our vacation, but it was pretty disappointing. We had 3 in our party and all of us got the tasting menu for $120. The sashimi and sushi was good but nothing special. The miso cod was excellent. The main steak course along with the miso soup that followed were so over salted they were hard to eat. I barely touched the soup. Service was very attentive and the food came out at a perfect pace. I should have asked to be reseated because the area owe were seated was near the kitchen and quite noisy. In summary a $500 meal I did not really enjoy. The chefs need to infuse some imagination and flavor.
Food and service are fantastic. Lacks the swagger that many other Nobu locations have.
Simply the best.
“As the Beatles said, “It’s getting better all the time” and that’s Nobu’s mantra. New dishes, better wines. Yes, getting better all the time. We pick at lest one dish from their older classic menu and two from New menu. We usually stick to the sushi sashimi dishes with the more creative twists like Whitefish sashimi with grapefruit and mezcal. Sounds weird but boy does it click. There are many like this one. Try Two and then go for the most impeccable sashimi/sushi on the island. The entire waitstaff will happily describe each dish down to the most bizarre ingredient. Have total faith in every server.
Love this place , i was amazed on how great the service and food was . Would recommend this place to a friend
It was pretty disappointing. We have been to so many Nobu restaurants, and this was a low point. The sushi was fine, but the cooked items were not great, and the meat course was overly rich and salty and frankly inedible. Overall, we deeply regretted our meal, and are now unlikely to go to any Nobu ever again.
Algo que comimos estaba echado a perder. Acabamos en el hospital. Nuestras vacaciones terminaron. Y eso que pagamos $400.00 dólares por dos personas.
One of the best Nobu experiences I’ve ever had!
Amazing food! Went for my fiancé’s birthday and they set up a wonderful desert for us. Loved it. Definitely going again.
It was great!
Great overall dining esperience. Excellent variety of seafood and fish dishes on the menu with both classic and novel options. The food was fresh and flavourful. The service was very good, with the waiter providing helpful recommendations. Decor is very attractive and the ambiance was energetic but not loud. Speaking levels were comfortable.
All the staff at the restaurant were very friendly and the service was great! Our server was very knowledgeable about the food being served. We really enjoyed our visit.
Best dining experience yet! Service was EXCELLENT...our food and drinks were pretty awesome as well!
Nice - but not spectacular
Good original food, great waiter, ok atmosphere. A little pricy! Guess was all worth it.
The food was amazing and well worth the money. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing.
Was truly one of the best meals of our lives... 11 courses of perfect food!
Food was flawless! Service was friendly, but inexperienced and noone seemed to have any knowledge about wine which seemed out of kilter for a restaurant of that caliber.
Enjoyed our first experience at Nobu. Our server was very attentive without being overbearing. He was quite knowledgeable with great recommendations. Overall the flavors were quite good, just a bit too much on the number of dishes with jalapeños. As much as I like ponzu, it was a bit heavy on the ponzu throughout the evening. Excellent selections of sake and beer. The Drunken Cherry Tobanyaki was a great finishing touch. A bit put off by the background music. Didn't seem match. Consider something along the likes of Wagaki and Hiroshima as part of the mx.
One of the most elegant Nobu establishments I have visited. Wait staff attention to detail and check up made the experience much more enjoyable
Nobu Honolulu had an energetic and positive atmosphere. The service was great from the moment my girlfriend and I walked through the doors. We had a reservation at 8:30pm, arrived at about 8pm and they said we will be seated closer to our reservation time and told us to wait out at the bar area, which we had no problem doing. The hostess came and got us maybe about 5 minutes later and sad everything was ready. The server was amazing, polite, and friendly. We had a great Valentine's Day there.
VALENTINE’S DAY 2018
A very special day and a very special dinner. As we always do we start our foodie trip with Two Legacy drinks at their outdoor gorgeous bar. Some of the best mixologists on Oahu. A very romantic beginning. Then we were taken to our table where we were first greeted by the entire kitchen staff. Our waitress was I think Trinity who has quickly progressed from a Server to a top waitress. We finished our Legacy and progressed to our favorite wine, a Loire Chenin Blanc, Savennieres which from the great 2015 vintage married Nobu’s very complex flavors. We picked two dishes from their Classic Menu and Two from their New Menu as we’ve done many times before. We ended up with an array of sushi/ sashimi and of course a soft shell crab roll. THE PERFECT VALENTINE’s experience.
Great sushi bar cuisine, nice atmosphere, great service. Probably the best blue fin Toro and I highly recommend the special tacos.
My husband and I had been to the Nobu Waikiki location several times and loved our experience. However, our experience at the new location was less than desirable. The service was subpar in all aspects of the house. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation. The hostesses were somewhat dismissive and we weren’t seated until 20 minutes after our reservation time only to notice that the restaurant wasn’t even half full. We opted for the chef selection menu ($200/pp) as we’ve had a great experience with that in the past. The courses were brought to us by someone other than our waiter who was in training and mumbled through the explanations and didn’t allow for conversation or questions. Our waiter was no where to be seen. The courses came out so fast that we were barely done with one before the next. It was like they wanted to turn the table so that they could get out of there. The decor of the new restaurant lacks the swanky posh feel of the old restaurant. In fact, it feels something like an upscale Denny’s. Very disappointed. Needless to say, Nobu will not be on our list of go to restaurants in the future. Very disappointing.
