Our waitress was exceptional and service oriented. We apologize for not knowing her name.
Excellent food and service. The waiter essentially chose food for us, which was great. All delicious. Expensive though
Not as good as other Nobu restaurants
The service was great!
In terms of value, I did not realize or enjoy each meal sooo good as to justify the price point for each. I just do not see it.
Excellent food. My family and I especially appreciate the tasting menu. The price point is certainly high for what it is, but the convenience of a reliable tasting menu combined with a casual atmosphere are worth it to me.
Don’t believe the hype - thoroughly mediocre food at a grossly inflated price
The small plates are beyond delightful. Delicious food with exquisite presentation.
Front desk was good and helpful But that’s as far as the good part of the evening went.
Serving staff were forgetful and clumsy, got the orders wrong and incomplete and very inconsistent service.
Entree arrived before appetisers. Had to chase to get warm water which we got after 3 attempts.
Menu limited compared to Nobu’s usual high standards and doesn’t stack up against London, Melbourne, KL etc, same feedback on food - overpriced average Japanese food at this venue. Overall forgettable experience, not worth returning for.
Not sure what all the hype is about . food not that great. service really slow
We had high hopes but for the price they charged the service should have been stellar. We can accept one misstep but it became a comedy of errors. Food came out but we did not have plates. The soy sauce was nearly empty. We got the wrong drink order brought over which we sent back. Then we waited 20 minutes for our drink order to arrive. Then they brought us the wrong food. They also kept grabbing the plates we originally had to ask for so it was constant interruptions. The food was good but not “so much better” than my local sushi restaurant. It was the missteps of the serving staff and the bar orders that give his experience, our first time to Nobu, a single star.
I just left this restaurant and I DO NOT recommend it. Very average sushi and sashimi at 4X the price of any other restaurant. I ordered a Frog’s leap wine and at $17 it was no more then the height of my pinky when I held it HORIZONTAL to the glass. What a Rip off. When we got our bill it was $100 more then it should have been. The waitress was so apologetic, but probably disappointed that we noticed it. I would AVOID NOBU at all costs. I am sitting at another restaurant because the portions were so small we left hungry and had to go to get a couple of salads to feel full. If you want to be seen in this trendy restaurant go. If you want a good meal at a fair price and leave satisfied AVOID THIS PLACE.
It was my birthday and I decided this would be a good place to celebrate it. Our drinks were great, the service was great, the food was ok. It wasn’t as out of this world as I had expected. We got there during happy hour and got the happy hour price on the short rib tacos, those were good, the wagyu dumplings which were great but when it came to my entree I was under whelmed. I really hate to be that person to send food back but my lobster and shrimp dish just tasted like soy sauce. Thankfully nothing was over cooked. My fiancé said something to our wonderful server who took the food away. I then ordered the rock shrimp tempura which was good but sadly I had lost my apatite. My fiancé and friends food looked great, I had a bite and it was pretty good. We decided that we will probably give the place another try for happy hour.
Excellent food as always. Helpful waiter. Always a little pricy for what it is. Overall, very good. A stand by.
Amazing food and service! The chef selection is the way too go!
I was not impressed. It's 2.5 star quality at 3.5 $$$ prices. Portions were small, meat wasn't all that tender, and service was unremarkable.
A great experience overall: the quality of the ingredients is perceptible in every dish.
Please keep participating to the "Restaurant week"program, to keep us on budget!
Dessert was amazing. Everything else overpriced and taste less. Took way too long to get anything put through
Restaurant week treats! Well worth it!
Absolutely fabulous with delicious food and amazing service!
Went here for dinner. Thing is, I also had Japanese for lunch that cost $17. That was way more satisfying and flavorful than my dinner at Nobu.
The food was excellent! I came with a few friends for restaurant week and Nobu did not disappoint. Our waiter was friendly and gave great suggestions. I opted for the salmon with wasabi sauce. Normally I wouldn’t eat salmon out because people are encourage something different but this salmon was amazing. Great sized portion and full of flavor! The dessert was equally as good. We will definitely be back.
Birthday. Average or below average service. Not worth the money. There are better restaurants in dc.
Great ambience, awesome service! Our waiter was attentive, courteous, and easy on the eyes (Thomas C). In addition, the presentation of the food was great, the taste was fresh, and the signature cocktails were divine! We had a great experience! Looking forward to return!
great service and great food . will comeback
I went to Nobu last week for restaurant week. On the positive side, the food was very good as well as the 3 lychee martinis and the glasses of wine ordered at the bar. My issue is that when ordering the bottle of pinot noir from Williamette Oregon from the drink menu, our waiter said he wasn't sure if it was available (only a handful of reds to choose from on the menu). He confirmed that it was not available but had something comparable in terms of taste profile. When he brought the bottle out, I asked if it was comparable (and by that I meant in the same price range), and he again said yes---but again mentioned the taste. When the bill arrived I was shocked to see that the $60-something bottle was replaced by a $115 bottle. I did not feel comfortable saying anything at the time, because the waiter brought the credit card machine to the table, but I am very upset by this. If I order a bottle of wine that is ~$60, and it is out of stock, I would expect the waiter to suggest one in the same price range, not almost double the price of the original one I chose. I typically tip 20% on a check--so I am thinking that 20% of $60 is $12 and of $115 is $23. So $138 for a bottle of wine that was good but nothing special? I think you have an obligation when the price difference is that much to let the customer know, because I feel somewhat deceived. What are your thoughts?
It started off well, great booth I’d requested. Josh, the waiter was very nice. We ordered two appetizers and wine from the regular menu/- very good! Then appetizer and entree were delicious from the RW menu .
And then... we were forgotten about! For 50 minutes after we were done with our entrees no one came to ask us what we wanted for dessert. When I finally flagged a server down to ask for our waiter, she was dismissive and in a hurry. Finally, when we flagged her down again (longish blonde hair), she told us Josh had become the bartender that’s why we didn’t have a server! What??? So, our waiter became the bartender and totally forgot about us?
Then I got up and went to the reception desk and related what happened and how we were still without service. The maitre d seemed to quickly pay attention but still no one came to ask what we’d like for dessert. Then suddenly two orders of mochi were brought by a server who so quickly left before we could say we didn’t want mochi, we wanted gelato!
Finally, after another 10 minute wait, we got a server to order our gelato! We immediately asked for our bill as we didn’t want to wait again after dessert.
We got there at 5:20p and didn’t leave until almost 8!
It was ridiculous! The maitre d didn’t even have the courtesy to offer to comp a toothpick!
Came for restaurant week. Have been to nyc locations (downtown and 57). Dc is hardly comparable to nyc locations. RW portions were lacking for $35 each. Waiter creeped me and my partner out. Much better value to be found at several other sushi/ japanese restaurants in dc. (Sushi Taro). Sushi was fresh, but other dc places have this nobu beat, by far. Will not be back.
It was restaurant week and it ROCKED! Amazing plates, the flavors are fantastic, and the staff are so thoughtful and intentional about creating a wonderful experience. A member of our group went to use the restroom and came back to his napkin folded! Fave dishes are the yellowtail jalapeño and wagyu foie gras dumplings. Thanks, Nobu!!!
I had the white fish for an app and it was excellent. my review of the food comes from the main course which was the salmon. that was not the best thing -- it wasn't bad, I ate it, it just wasn't particularly memorable and I would not order again. the meal was very expensive, even for restaurant week. drinks were nearly $20 each, so keep that in mind for when/ if you go. I probably would stick to the raw fish at Nobu. cool atmosphere though!
The Sushi was so good! Best I have ever had, but what made it really great was the friendliness of the sushi chef and the staff in general.
Good experience and great food. Restaurant week helped immensely with pricing
Malibu, NY 57th, Dubai, Vegas are all somehow tastier. Was a bit disappointed. Not the Nobu we're used to
The food was simply amazing. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The special cucumber martini was delicious and refreshing
What a disappointment! Fantastic food was overshadowed by terrible service. The waiters were nice enough but there were so many rookie mistakes that the experience was ruined. They brought out the wrong dish for one diner, a second diner got their main dish 15 minutes after everyone else (we suspect they had completely forgotten about it) and the birthday cake I had ordered came out with the wrong name on it! I normally don't spend this much for dinner so I was expecting to feel like a queen...not so much.
Good food, but nothing special and does not justify the price. Too many table service people swirling around the table, rather mismanaged.
Excellent service, nice ambience.
Food is overpriced and doesn’t taste as good as expected for the money paid, and not many vegetarian options.
Better value to go for happy hour or just appetizers.
This place sucks! It’s bad enough they screw you the prices but they’re so cheap they screw you on the opentable points too!!
Love Nobu!!! Miso Black Cod, new salmon dish, dumplings, wagyu, edamame, shisito peppers, cauliflower and more!! All dishes were amazing!
Half empty resto but amazing food.
