Overall it was pleasant, however, they forgot that we were there for a birthday and didn’t bring out a dessert or anything toward the end even though they called days prior and said they would. However, as always the food was immaculate and the service was prompt and mostly professional.
The food wasn’t even close to being worth the price.
The food was excellent, but the service fell short. I had a glass of sake which came in a wine glass that smelled. I asked for another glass, which the server provided but without any questions. My asking for another glass should have prompted him to ask what was wrong with the glass I had - chip? Smell? Something else. The rest of the time, the server was overzealous in clearing the table, removing my plate even while I still had chopsticks in hand. The place was not packed so not an issue of table turnover, but even if it was crowded, the server shouldn’t have made the diner feel so rushed. More training?
Black cod was unbelievable! Also tried the wagyu foi gras dumpling which were also out of this world! Will most definitely go back!
Very helpful waitress who guided us through options
Amazing birthday dinner, outstanding food and service as always. You just have to be aware it is very expensive.
Second time going to Nobu and was NOT disappointed. The staff is incredibly helpful - so definitely don't be shy and ask for their recommendations. Also, do yourself a favor and order the beef short ribs, I guarantee it will be the dish you'll want to come back for. The prices are fair for the quality of food, this place is definitely more for special occasions.
Amazing .
Simply top notch
No complaints
We went for a birthday.
At these premium level prices the food execution was very sub par. All the hot dishes were over salted and one note. A huge waste of quality seafood ingredients.
Also the sushi was average quality and the rice prep was amateur (wrong temperature, too much vinegar and the ratio of rice to fish was too much rice).
Avoid this chain concept - it has strayed far from its origins.
We've been to Nobu a couple times in other cities and this one did not let us down either. From the sushi to the main meal (tempura crab and lobster), the food was outstanding. Our service was very good too. My only issue is the price for the food - not inexpensive. So if you are celebrating a special occasion - go to Nobu.
Great food, drinks and service
Really incredible - loved everything! Pricey but food and service quality impeccable.
The food and service was amazing! I would recommend going with the server's omakase menu.
It was a great experience and nice restaurant. The only issue I had was a few fruit flies hovering around the bar area. It was annoying and I'm sure the folks at NOBU will take care of it when they clean up the area.
Unbelievable dining experience
Fantastic food cooked perfectly! Excellent service!
The food was delicious. Most of the servers who took care of us were delightful, the woman that waited on us seemed to not understand that I cannot hear on my right side, so 3 separate times I asked her to move to the other side so I could hear. Even then, she did not care, or perhaps try and speak slightly louder, or acknowledge my request. She was well versed about the food but not at all friendly, never smiled, and was robotic. The gentlemen who assisted her were very personable! Perhaps she had a bad day. I do think the food was overpriced for the area, I had several cocktails at $18.00 apiece, that was pretty steep. Tasty, yes, but I do not think I will return very often, especially if spending all that money doesn't even get me a nod and a welcome. Or a smile.
Nobu was really an excellent experience. The food wasn’t as amazing as some of the locations were, but I would still highly recommend it.
definitely a hurried affair, miso cod had bones, unpleasant experience in my opinion
As a frequent patron of Nobu’s flagship Malibu location, I was not disappointed with the DC location. The ambiance was beautiful and the staff was energetic as always. The lobster tacos to start were delicious. My date had the seared scallops and I had the shrimp and lobster with seasonal vegetables, both to die for. Another wonderful dinning experience at Nobu. See you next time!
It took extremely long for our server to attend to us after we were seated...we didn’t even have a menu and were just sitting at our table for more than 20 minutes. Then when she came to introduce herself it took another 10 minutes to get a menu then 10 more to place our order. We understand that the restaurant was busy, however when we finally got our food one order was wrong and the other cane 30 minutes after...instead of the server letting us know that she probably didn’t put in the order or someone messed up, she proceeded to joke that ‘the chicken ran from the plate’ 🙄...poor service. Not sure I would return to this Nobu.
Far too slow, food nowhere as good as usual
I have been to 25 nobus around the world and this one in my hometown was disappointing. The service, the food and the Nobu experience was just not there. None of the excitement of eating at such a special place.
The service was excellent: they easily tailored the order to our needs. We ordered 5 classic dishes (2 cold and 3 hot ones) and a cold NOW dish, which was the best one. The cold plates were much better than the hot ones. One of the hot ones with seafood was underwhelming. Overall, maybe for DC this is good japanese food but I really expected much more from Nobu.
Ordered the DC omekase. The whole meal had a feel of being an inconvenience to the kitchen and the staff that served it.
The server told us at the beginning of the meal that the D.C. omasake would be the opportunity to show off dishes unique to the area/restaurant, but the output felt thrown together and unconsidered. In some cases the ingredients were second rate (scallops that clearly weren’t very fresh, served with mixed fried veg and miso). In others, good quality ingredients were let down by poor or rushed preparation.
I would not normally highlight niggles from a restaurant visit with a poor review, but the standard was so low given the cost, that I had to comment.
Our server provided excellent recommendations. The hand rolls and chipotle miso sea bass were outstanding.
Mal servicio y la calidad de los alimentos dejó mucho que desear para el costo
so slow. food was not tasting good
We ordered the chef's premium tasting menu along with paired sake tasting. Firstly, when we asked for what is going to be on that evening's tasting menu, the waitress was not able to give us any idea of what to expect. She didn't know. We went ahead and ordered anyway. The food was good, however, the timing of when the various dishes arrived was very bad. Initially they were bringing the dishes back to back, with no gap in between. Then there was a 35 minute wait time from the moment they took our plates after the 4th plate and the time the 5th plate was brought. The sake pairings were delayed twice, one of which came even after the corresponding dish was over and the plate was taken. Our dinner took 2 hours and 45 minutes for 6 meal tasting menu - and this was after we requested the desert come at the same time with the last meal as we were so late to get home before the babysitter had to leave. So even though we ordered the most expensive option on the menu, the value we received was nothing compared to it. And even though the taste of the food was good, the experience we had was not nearly as satisfying. Good brand name with premium pricing, but we recommend that they bump up the quality of service to reflect that as well. Or potentially take the tasting menu option off, if they are not going to be able to manage serving it properly.
Our party of 3 had a wonderful experience. Each dish was perfectly prepared. I feel like it’s over-priced given portions etc, but still enjoyable.
Its NOBU - what more do you need. Amazing and perfecly executed dishes. Attentive and crisp service. Perfect sushi restaurant.
special evening with my son
Amazing service too much noise
Absolutely amazing service from the tall brown haired gentleman. Very knowledgeable about the menu. The other staff were very polite and personable too! Food was good, not great.
This is our third and best Nobu, far superior to NYC and London. The service, ambiance, and most importantly food were excellent. It is very expensive but the quality is beyond reproach. The fusion dishes, tuna on rice cubes, hamachi crudo, wagu beef were better than the the sushi.
They were inventive and delicious. The service was fabulous our server made the meal. Even the coconut sorbet was perfect. We will be back just not with our starving college students who ate the bill into four figures!!
Seated in extremely cold area under ac and no one would do a thing
We arrived early. Made to wait inspite table was empty
Deliciously smooth Peruvian-inspired Japanese, just give your server freedom to serve you what they know is best—they will not let you down. Thoroughly enjoyed the cranked vibe and it was a lovely way to spend my husband’s 40th Birthday!
The food is super overpriced. The servers don't explain the menu well and the portions don't make sense for the pricepoint.
Best food ever, great service
