I was not impressed. It's 2.5 star quality at 3.5 $$$ prices. Portions were small, meat wasn't all that tender, and service was unremarkable.
Dessert was amazing. Everything else overpriced and taste less. Took way too long to get anything put through
Restaurant week treats! Well worth it!
Absolutely fabulous with delicious food and amazing service!
Went here for dinner. Thing is, I also had Japanese for lunch that cost $17. That was way more satisfying and flavorful than my dinner at Nobu.
The food was excellent! I came with a few friends for restaurant week and Nobu did not disappoint. Our waiter was friendly and gave great suggestions. I opted for the salmon with wasabi sauce. Normally I wouldn’t eat salmon out because people are encourage something different but this salmon was amazing. Great sized portion and full of flavor! The dessert was equally as good. We will definitely be back.
Birthday. Average or below average service. Not worth the money. There are better restaurants in dc.
Great ambience, awesome service! Our waiter was attentive, courteous, and easy on the eyes (Thomas C). In addition, the presentation of the food was great, the taste was fresh, and the signature cocktails were divine! We had a great experience! Looking forward to return!
great service and great food . will comeback
It started off well, great booth I’d requested. Josh, the waiter was very nice. We ordered two appetizers and wine from the regular menu/- very good! Then appetizer and entree were delicious from the RW menu .
And then... we were forgotten about! For 50 minutes after we were done with our entrees no one came to ask us what we wanted for dessert. When I finally flagged a server down to ask for our waiter, she was dismissive and in a hurry. Finally, when we flagged her down again (longish blonde hair), she told us Josh had become the bartender that’s why we didn’t have a server! What??? So, our waiter became the bartender and totally forgot about us?
Then I got up and went to the reception desk and related what happened and how we were still without service. The maitre d seemed to quickly pay attention but still no one came to ask what we’d like for dessert. Then suddenly two orders of mochi were brought by a server who so quickly left before we could say we didn’t want mochi, we wanted gelato!
Finally, after another 10 minute wait, we got a server to order our gelato! We immediately asked for our bill as we didn’t want to wait again after dessert.
We got there at 5:20p and didn’t leave until almost 8!
It was ridiculous! The maitre d didn’t even have the courtesy to offer to comp a toothpick!
Came for restaurant week. Have been to nyc locations (downtown and 57). Dc is hardly comparable to nyc locations. RW portions were lacking for $35 each. Waiter creeped me and my partner out. Much better value to be found at several other sushi/ japanese restaurants in dc. (Sushi Taro). Sushi was fresh, but other dc places have this nobu beat, by far. Will not be back.
It was restaurant week and it ROCKED! Amazing plates, the flavors are fantastic, and the staff are so thoughtful and intentional about creating a wonderful experience. A member of our group went to use the restroom and came back to his napkin folded! Fave dishes are the yellowtail jalapeño and wagyu foie gras dumplings. Thanks, Nobu!!!
I had the white fish for an app and it was excellent. my review of the food comes from the main course which was the salmon. that was not the best thing -- it wasn't bad, I ate it, it just wasn't particularly memorable and I would not order again. the meal was very expensive, even for restaurant week. drinks were nearly $20 each, so keep that in mind for when/ if you go. I probably would stick to the raw fish at Nobu. cool atmosphere though!
The Sushi was so good! Best I have ever had, but what made it really great was the friendliness of the sushi chef and the staff in general.
Good experience and great food. Restaurant week helped immensely with pricing
Malibu, NY 57th, Dubai, Vegas are all somehow tastier. Was a bit disappointed. Not the Nobu we're used to
What a disappointment! Fantastic food was overshadowed by terrible service. The waiters were nice enough but there were so many rookie mistakes that the experience was ruined. They brought out the wrong dish for one diner, a second diner got their main dish 15 minutes after everyone else (we suspect they had completely forgotten about it) and the birthday cake I had ordered came out with the wrong name on it! I normally don't spend this much for dinner so I was expecting to feel like a queen...not so much.
Good food, but nothing special and does not justify the price. Too many table service people swirling around the table, rather mismanaged.
Excellent service, nice ambience.
Food is overpriced and doesn’t taste as good as expected for the money paid, and not many vegetarian options.
Better value to go for happy hour or just appetizers.
This place sucks! It’s bad enough they screw you the prices but they’re so cheap they screw you on the opentable points too!!
Love Nobu!!! Miso Black Cod, new salmon dish, dumplings, wagyu, edamame, shisito peppers, cauliflower and more!! All dishes were amazing!
We had to wait 40 minutes for our entrees while our daughter ate hers. Food was ok, but not worthy of the Nobu name and certainly not worth $350. I won’t spend my money there again
It was rather pricey for what we got. The service wasn't as well as I expected even though I may be spoiled being raised in Japan. The servers do not pay attention to customers while they are busy doing their things. I tend to expect more attentiveness when I pay this much money. The material they used were very fresh and good quality, but again it is too expensive. They served wrong kind of Japanese wine. My chairman ordered Shochu yet he received sake with ice, which we never heard of. Sake isn't serviced with ice in Japan. lol
We had the enhanced tasting menu and added the cod lettuce cups. Food was beyond amazing. Service was impeccable. Worth the $$$$! Can't wait to go back!
This is an extremely expensive restaurant - it is hard to justify this price on any occasion- the food is good but the ambience and noise detract. Buyer beware
It is the fourth time I visited Nobu, and this is a great fine dining place in DC. I recommend the custom menu where the chef defines a menu based on your price range, allergies, and likes/dislikes. You eat it family style. The food is perfect and the chef masters seasoning and contrast. You can have both raw and cooked food. The cocktail list is like the food and always changing, and there are very interesting non-alcoholic options with superb taste. The service is impeccable.
You cannot go wrong dining there.
the food was exceptional as always. will defiantly come back
Family get together
This was our fourth visit and Nobu DC continues to be consistent. We had a wonderful server, Nicole who helped us with choosing new items - all delicious! Great restaurant and highly recommend!
Disappointed. Staff was polite and professional but overwhelmed. Poor management decision for a Friday night. Drinks came out warm
Celebrated our 21st Wedding anniversary with dinner. We ordered the Omakase (tasting) menu. Seven delicious dishes giving us a highlight of the wonderful flavors of Nobu. All the seafood was fresh and meat cooked to perfection. Service and food was excellent, well worth the money spent.
Our experience at Nobu was a good one, but not spectacular. The sushi was very fresh and delicious, as were the scallops. The grilled Shishito peppers were a little too mature, with seeds too evident. The Shrimp Tempura was too heavy on the batter for my taste, and the Coconut martini was too sweet. All in all, it was a pleasant meal with good service in quiet surroundings, but for the price, we expected more imaginative dishes.
It was an overpriced experience for the value. I found hair in one of the dishes. When you think about the fact that all they had to do is cut fish and put it on a plate, with no crazy process, and still managed to drop a hair into the dish, it’s crazy.
I feel like the wait staff is trying to push certain things or the Chef Selection menu. The food is outstanding!
Service was amazing! Happy menu is a great deal. Food was exceptional for the price
Food and cocktails were amazing. We had the tuna tataki, rock shrimp and black cod and all were outstanding. Also had grapefruit on ice, mango martini and old fashioned-all delicious. Service was ok-wait staff not very attentive but fine. Had to ask for menus and additional drinks. Celebrating 50th bday and dessert was an after thought-we received after we had paid the check.
There were some issues with the food that was brought out to us as well as how cooked the steak was. But the staff took exceptional care of us.
Overall it was pretty good. Sashimi and wagyu dumplings were on point. The banana soy dessert is amazing. Kind of like banana fosters. Wasn’t a fan of the crispy rice (too difficult to chew and kind of tasteless) or the lobster (I’m biased. Not really a lobster fan). Would go again though cause I enjoyed everything else.
Not the great experience of NOBU NYC or Malibu.
Run of the mill.
