Always a great atmosphere. Whenever we're in dc NoBu is our go to place.
Weird and uncomfortable vibe; service was slow and awkward; food was decent but not great.
Amazing vibe. Our server was fabulous! Was there with my daughter on college weekend tour. I ordered a martini that was amazing and we continue on with the sampler 8 course meal. Every course was better than the last and we took our time over two hours. Perfect and memorable dining experience. Someone obviously important was there as place was covered with secret service. We counted seven officers. Must have been the safest place in dc 🤔
All of the food was really good, fast service, and was very trendy and modern.
We can't wait to go back. We arrived during the happy hour time slot and enjoyed $10 cocktails. Highly recommend 25th and M, as well as the Sidecar. Our sushi was divine.
Food was great, service was fine, cocktails were overly sweet and nothing special. Atmosphere was kind of bleh and the tables were too close together. The lounge seemed more lively and comfortable. Will return for the lounge happy hour.
Over-priced for the service we received. The Los Angeles location was above and beyond this location.
The worst service I had in my entire life. My companion asked for something to three different waiters and no service. The managers had to give us free drinks at the end. Waiters take ages to check the tables. Drinks took so much time to get to our table. Incidentally the table next to us also called the manager. Awful service. Expensive also. Will never go back there. Don’t waste your money.
Went here for a birthday and the food was outstanding. I was disappointed in the service, there was a longer than usual time between plates and they even forgot to bring us a dish. They did correct it. I also called and specifically said it was a birthday and their response was ‘if you order a dessert, then we will add a happy birthday/candle’. Well, dessert came out and no candle and nothing special. Not a big deal, just found it odd that they communicated one thing and delivered differently. Great food, fun place, just the service needs some ‘cleaning up’
La comida fue buena a secas, muy cara para lo que ofrecen.
Very nice ambiance, so pleasetgst Nobu is here in our city! I don't recommend the table by the waiter stand at all. Ask to be seated elsewhere. Too much traffic with the staff. Food was exceptionally delicious.
The food was mouthwatering, will recommend and return. The service was also awesome
Great food, really slow service!
Excellent food and service.
It is worth it to do the price point of the chefs menu, but have them custom make the dishes based on your preferences. Did this option with paired wines and it was amazing. Truly some of the best food I’ve ever consumed. The baby barracuda, toro with truffle, and flambé duck were some of the highlights.
Sushi was excellent but the flavors of many of the other dishes were too exotic. It was also very expensive.
We looove nobu, but this was no NYC nobu. All sashimi was cut thick and didn’t seem like the best cuts. Some included the silver and skin. We stayed in DC 2 nights and went to dinner here both nights. Each night had the same experience. We go to nobu every chance we get and have frequented LA, Vegas and All in NYC quite a few times (including the much missed TriBeCa). This has been the exception to excellent reputation that Nobu maintains. Service was excellent and everyone seemed super knowledgeable and helpful with selections. It just seemed as though the sushi chefs were not up to par.
There is much better sushi to be had in DC. Have eaten at Nobu in Greece and Vegas. Our meal in DC was completely underwhelming. Felt like we were paying for a brand and not actual quality of the food.
We chose the set menu for $150. The food was exquisite. The service was good.
I did not give 5 stars because:
* half the party has to be there before you can get seated. That would be okay if there was an area where you can wait for your party. I just waited out on the street. It made me want to leave before we even started. It was not as if our table was not ready yet - at the time of our arrival the restaurant was almost deserted.
* The music was too loud and busy, making it hard to converse.
Setting is important to me - especially when I end up paying $220 per person.
Hostess was incredibly rude, waitstaff was distracted. No flow to the service. Miso cod, albeit delicious, was full of bones which is not to be expected at this level. One bone maybe...but 5? Valet stops at 10 so if you are enjoying a later dinner be prepared to get attitude from the valet
Chef’s choice tasting menu was outstanding!
Music was excessively loud, even after several requests to turn down. Wine unavailable; suggested wine horrible and 40% more! Next, offered a taste of even higher priced bottle, which we liked. Waited forever only to learn they were out of it. Next bottle was twice as much. Ridiculous!! Poorly trained waitstaff at this price point and not nearly attentive enough. Embarrassing to have five guests here with empty glasses! Only saving grace was food.
Price point was inappropriately high for the experience.
Service was slow, but food was great!
The food was great and my waiter Samir was awesome!!
Nobu was good. It’s the kind of place you check off your bucket list - and that’s just what we did. Probably won’t be coming back. We sampled a lot of food, for that reason. Expensive for what you receive, but you’re really paying for the name and not the food...
Order one item then eat it then order another item. Our big mistake was to order 3 things and they all came out at one time. Food portion are small so be prepare to spend a lot to get satisfaction. Filet was tough on side but good in middle. Rock shrimp good and best thing on menu that we tried. Nothing is extra no rice nothing. Very busy and tight close together seating so very difficult to have a personal conversation with out everyone hearing. The lady next to me at the other table phone continued to bling. Just not wowed by this experience.
The food was good but not as good as Nobu’s other locations. The service was too slow.
We were very surprised to find out that even though our reservation was for the second week of Restaurant Week, they were not participating! They did not have a special menu. We did not know that not all the restaurants had participated in the second week!
Enjoyed the food even though the bill turned out to be a lot more expensive than had been anticipated.
Food presentation, food quality and creativity of dishes keeps me coming back. Love happy hour prices and dishes.
Good and interesting food, but priced somewhat too high.
Awful restaurant. Terrible food, bad sevice and definitely overpriced. i would never recommend this restaurant, ever.
I took my son to his favorite restaurant and he ordered several of his favorite dishes. His favorites are miso soup, black cod miso, and spicy garlic vegetables. I added shrimp and lobster spicy lemon sauce. My son loved his favorites as much as he always does. I had not had the shrimp and lobster with spicy lemon sauce and it was truly delicious. The flavors were terrific. It's expensive, but the dishes are pretty unique and always very well-prepared. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive and did a very good job.
We dined during DC Restaurant Week and although the menu was limited to a selection of 4 dishes per course, the selection was varied and delicious. Four of us dined together, so we decided to "eat the menu" and shared each course. Service was excellent as was the overall dining experience. The restaurant was designed well; it allowed you to carry on a conversation with your dining companions without raising your voice. Cocktails were interesting, well crafted and although pricey, worth the money.
The service was horrible. No one could muster a smile. Drinks took 45 minutes to arrive. The only time our waitress came by - until she delivered the check - was when we flagged her down to ask about our drinks. She never once asked how our meal was or if there was anything we needed. The food was fine but not at all memorable.
Service staff was overall very friendly but not attentive. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizers while everyone around us was served (it was later comped by the waiter). 15 minutes wait for a glass of wine, and they forgot our tea order (which then arrived finally when we had requested the check and was comped as well). My cocktail glass was only half filled. Not sure if that’s the norm. Food was outstanding besides the arctic char. Disappointed after we really looked forward to our visit. My husband was previously in London and had raved about the great quality.
I've eaten at a few of the Nobu locations (New York, LA), and have to say that Nobu DC did not disappoint. It was a sublime experience and I cannot wait to return again. Exquisite service and food.
Good restaurant week menu but overall not a representative of the restaurant's regular menu. And I've come to take restaurant week as the chef's chance to sway and Iure the crowd that isn't the regular patron. Clearly some aren't taking it that way. Favorites were definitely the White fish, Chicken and Thai Cappuccino.
service was very slow and staffs are not that friendly. Rice was under cooked..Really??? isn't soft and eatable rice a Japanese/Asian restaurant 101? Very small portion for a-okay food, but you have to pay twice higher..I don't think so... Atmosphere is not even great- looks like a huge wedding venue place.
Not worth the hype at all. And a server will bring a payment processing machine to you, so you have to swipe a card and enter a tip (18%/20%/22%) at the spot while they are watching and waiting for you to finish the transaction.. I felt uncomfortable.
Due to extremely slow service, I was gonna leave only 15% tip, but where is my 15% tip option?
I do not recommend this place at all.
