About Noble Rot
Noble Rot is an ecosystem. A glacial well hydrates the building and the 3000 sq foot garden on the roof. The vegetables grown there supply the restaurant. For fifteen years, The Rot has educated, entertained and fed this city. Local, national and international media have consistently praised our style. Noble Rot’s situation is unique and our view is extraordinary.

Noble Rot Ratings and Reviews
This was our second time to Noble Rot. Service was very good... timely, knowledgeable and friendly. The past dish was very good but my wife's meal of steak and veg was extremely salty and couldn't eat all of it. We mentioned it to the staff. They were apologetic and comp'd desert. We will try it again.
Noble Rot is my favorite place to dine before going to see a show at Imago Theater or Bossanova Ballroom. There were 4 in our party and we all loved our meal. When reserving on Open Table I asked for a window table with a view and they obliged, and we had a spectacular view of the city. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. It remains my favorite dining establishment in the neighborhood.
Noble Rot is one of our solid go-tos, especially when going out with friends. The food is artful, beautiful, inventive, fresh and seasonal -- their rooftop garden is a HUGE plus. The wine list is very impressive, with fun wine flights (the BEST Pinot Noir flight in town). The view is amazing, and the servers are very knowledgable, friendly and unpretentious. The price point is also reasonable. It feels very Portland, for anti-snobby foodies.
Fantastic Service!! The ambiance was great and the food was awesome. We brought a special bottle of wine to share with friends and felt very comfortable. I am vegetarian and the choices were great. I had the "Beet Wellington" and it had amazing layers of flavor. We cannot wait to go back. Also a great view.
My wife was interest in sampling a new restaurant and heard good things about the Noble. We where pleased with the food and service - both outstanding. We loved the atmosphere.
However, we were seated at one of the least desirable table in the restaurant. The table for 2 was located in the middle of the restaurant next to the matradee podium. The matradee is literally standing next to you as you eat and folks are always walking pass you. All the other tables for two are located next to a window so you have the worst real estate in the place but pay the same. It's cramped and you have very little room to move around. Your surrounded by servers and pinned against a nook. You see other two table seats and find yourself envying the view and real estate. I can't say enough how horrible that table for 2 is located. Call ahead and make sure you don't get this table. I think the lady said we were in table number 13 or something.
My first time there and it was a disappointment. My pasta was too rich to eat and was completely flavorless. I set it aside and the server walked by a number of times and never asked if there was a problem. I brought it home, rinsed the sauce off and fed it to my chickens. A friend ordered a hamburger medium and the server argued with her about it. When it came out it was medium rare and was sent back. Again, an argument. My sister's Beet Wellington was good.
With so many amazing restaurants in Portland, I feel no need to try again. Sad.
Excellent food, service, wine list. Nice view of the city from fourth floor. Comfortable seating. Great menu. Especially liked the wine flights, brussel sprouts, pasta of the day. Some ingredients are grown in house, pasta was made in house and you can tell.
I have been to the Noble Rot a few times and it is always excellent. I once had the most delicious whole trout there, so I ordered it again recently. I was prepared different and less knock-out than the first, but it was still excellent. I appreciate that they use herbs and vegetables from their rooftop garden and that the menu is always seasonal, but always interesting. The wine selection was vast and lovely, the host helped us select a perfect medium bodied red that worked well with all of our selected dishes.
We have been coming to Noble Rot almost since it’s inception and it is still one of our favorite Portland restaurants. The menu is limited but delicious, the wine flights always fun, and the creme brûlée some of the best this side of France! I really appreciate that they have continued to offer staples that are some of my favorite menu items such as the paninis, the onion tart, and the creme brûlée and p, b and j dessert. Please never change these! Love this place!
Ordered two pasta dishes. Both had less pasta, more additional ingredients & not as imaginative as expected. Wedge salad was good, though there was lack of actual bleu cheese. Wine flight was a great suggestion. It's a bit cold near the windows this winter, and their heater is either full blast or off, keep your scarves handy if it's dinner. Our server, Harmony, was very friendly and available.
The food was GREAT - some of the ingredients are grown on-site.
My Wife enjoyed the Wine Flight.
The complexity of flavors was beyond my expectations.
We enjoyed every culinary aspect of our visit - the view was wonderful - a great experience. It was the outstanding service (Harmony) who elevated this experience to a marvelous evening.
Had been a long while since I ate a meal here, as the last few times I've had drinks, happy hour food, or left because of too long a wait. Monday night, not at all crowded, had a perfect booth with a great view, and the meal hit on all cylinders! Wife and I shared the Beet Wellington as an appetizer and it exploded with flavors. Same with her entree of Polenta stuffed Pepper. My fresh pasta dish was the best I've had--topped with Carlton Farms pork shoulder. Too full for dessert. Will be back soon.
The service was excellent and very attentive. The atmosphere is wonderful with a city view. The food was creative and very tasty! I had the Pork chops which were wonderful, and my wife went with the Polenta Stuffed Anaheim Chilie. Both dishes were excellent. We had 2 wine flights, all of which were very good! Lastly, the dessert... yum! The Peanut Butter and Jelly was an unexpected treat.. must try it!
My fiancé and I came here for our 3 year anniversary, and the hostess remembered me mentioning that in my reservation and they made sure to wish us a happy anniversary as soon as we came in. The service was efficient, the food was delicious, and our waitress gave us space when we were having a serious conversation. I can't recommend this place enough! We did have a seat in the corner by the window, which was a great view but the echo from other tables made it a little difficult to hear. But still a great evening and I can't wait to come back!
