Food was ok; service was poor. The Korean fried chicken skin was very delicate, thin battered, tasty. But the black rice/kimchi was mediocre (i can make this at home). I also ordered beet/sweet pepper soup. It had an odd flavor that i couldn't put my finger on, i hurried up and finished as soon as i could as i didn't like it very much (but i hate wasting food). For dessert, the fruit crisp had slightly undercooked crunchy fruit (peaches? nectarines?). The brown butter ice cream was very tasty.
The atrium windows were wide open and the wind was howling like crazy and the night was getting cold. Maybe we sat in the wrong spot, but we couldn't eat with the window open (hair was flying around into our mouths while eating). Like elderly women (who are actually in their 30's), we asked the waiter to close the windows and he unenthusiastically agreed to close them. Then, another waiter opened it up again. I wish the waiters were more aware of their surroundings. Further, our waiter didn't once check in on us after we received the food.
On the other hand, the hostess was wonderful. I asked for a coffee refill, and she grabbed it right away. Also, she cleared the dirty dishes off the table while we sat and chatted (cuz our waiter didn't notice anything). She deserved more of the tip than the server.
Great clam with andouille dish. Excellent wine pairing, and the service was great. Will be back!
Tables are too small and too close together on the patio.
Food was very tasty. I wasn't crazy about the drink, poor value.
View was good but a bit windy. Service was great. Definitely will go
Noble Rot is always a wonderful dining experience. I look forward to my next visit, which will be soon.
Used to be a great place for a casual dinner or a dinner for a special event. The service is now lackluster and doesn't match the standards of other Portland restaurants of similar price level.
Noble Rot has been one of our favorite restaurants, going back to the original location on SE Ankeny. The service and quality of food have been consistently good, always providing an enjoyable dining experience. We also appreciate not having to compete with loud music while eating and visiting with friends.
Limited entree options. Great dessert. Appetizers were too small to be shared. Uncomfortably loud.
As always, excellent. One of our perennial portland favorites.
Ambiance was great. Really enjoyed the location. Menu had a good variety of choices.
Food was a bit over seasoned. Our waiter didn't have the greatest grasp of the menu (how to pronounce some things, and info on how some dishes were prepared).
This place was perfect for a special birthday dinner. Great views through the windows, even better food. We loves this place!
Food was wonderful, as always. The noise level was higher than usual due to being seated next to a large noisy party on the outside patio. Thank goodness for the sliding glass doors, they helped control noise a great deal.
Very delicious dinner, really lovely staff, nice sunset view!
Just kinda tricky to put padron peppers in the main plate, without knowing if they are hot or not. Which two of them were, and made the rest of the degustation a bit hiccupy ;)
The wait at the start to get our table was a bit long: no hostess appeared for about 5 min...and seemed short with everyone...
But that didn’t diminish the outstanding meal we received. Apps and cocktails were divine, salmon and hangar steaks were deelish, and the Angel Food Cake? “This is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.” Literally quotes at our table. Outstanding service as well. Bravo. Will be back!
Fabulous, fresh food with something for everyone. Attentive staff who did not hover. Subtle music. Able to easily converse. Good view.
This is the perfect place to spend a summer evening in a quintessentially Portland venue. You can go all out for multiple elegant courses or keep it simple with a wine flight and a cheese board. Service was attentive and personable without being pushy.
Great night out! Service was excellent. I wish I would remember our server’s name!
We adore Noble Rot, it’s always a pleasure!
Lovely location for happy hour and some appetizers! I was a first time visitor and requested the outside patio, and since I was there at opening, they were able to meet my request. It was a great time!
I was at Noble Rot with my 3 nieces and nephews, whom I haven't seen in ages. We got the absolute premier Princess Table, in the corner on the outside deck. We ordered appetizers and drinks and dinner and dessert and just lingered. Enjoyed the ambiance and each other. So grateful that no one tried to rush us out through the meal and out the door.
Went with a larger group. Food was good. Drinks menu was good. Service was adequate.
I had made reservations and asked for a quiet romantic table, noting that it was a special occasion. (my husband's birthday) We were shown to a tiny table crammed into the middle of a congested patio. We asked to be moved, and we were put at another tiny table behind the wait station. ( plenty of comfy, quiet booths were open)
First, we ordered one of their signature cocktails in a pineapple ( for 2 supposedly) Beautiful presentation, but did not taste good and was more ice than drink.
Ordered two appetizers, the mussels and onion tart. The onion tart was saturated in a balsamic sauce, and had an overwhelming burnt taste.
The mussels were ok.
We both ordered the lamb shoulder. So bad.
Served with an ice cold sweet potato, the lamb was completely over cooked and over seasoned.
The quick pickle (so bad) on the root vegetables obviously was made in haste, and it wasn't a cohesive dish at all.
At least the wine was good.
I have never written a bad review before, but this was more than disappointing. It was all hype.
I thought we were going to get a taste of Portland's finest. Not this time.
That was the BEST burger I've had in years. And I always recommend places I love. Especially Noble Rot.
Fabulous! Great food, drinks, and ambiance! We had a wonderful date night :)
Delightful spot. Lots of natural light. Hip casual; excellent food and service. A number of surprisingly reasonable-priced bottles.
My husband ordered the lamb shoulder -- which should have been tender, but it seemed he got a rather overdone lamb tenderloin. My burger was good, as was the salad and onion rings.
The food was very good and the rooftop very interesting and fun. There wasn't much shade on a hot day, but we had a reservation and they put us at the most shady table at that moment. I would definitely go there again for happy hour.
Great wine. Quick friendly service. Great food. Easy!
This is such a cool spot! We sat outside on the patio and got to watch the sun
The view was amazing, service was great, and beverage options were numerous. My only comment (and from talking to the staff, I'm fairly certain that I'm not the first one to mention this) is that the kitchen takes a very aggressive approach when it comes to seasoning their sauces and proteins with salt. I'm not sure if it's an intentional choice or not, but there were numerous bites over the course of the meal that were salt bombs to the point of not being able to taste any sort of nuance in the food or whatever beverage I had in front of me.
Lauren was fantastic. What a great addition to Noble Rot!
Always great at the Rot! Our go to birthday restaurant.
Noble Rot is our go-to spot for a celebratory meal. The atmosphere is always festive, the staff welcoming and the food creative and delicious. The wine flights are thoughtful and the cocktails on-point. From the humble but perfect onion rings to whatever the fantastic fish main might be, it never disappoints. Been coming here for a decade and will keep coming back.
Awesome food, wine & atmosphere. Had a company partner dinner here and loved it. Appreciated the 'roof' salad too! Would come back.
I always feel well-treated here. Servers are friendly and attentive without hovering. Food and drinks are consistently interesting and delicious.
Not our first visit. 38th anniversary and always enjoy Noble Rot. Food is truly "Portland." Veggi options (wife is vegan, I'm veggi centric, had the veggi pasta). Most enjoyable... The view looking across the river at the Portland skyline is also unique and very pleasant.
I spent over $100 between two people and we both left hungry and sober. The wine was good but the food portions were too small.
This was our first visit to Noble Rot and we loved it. It was a gorgeous night in Portland and we wanted to be be outside on the roof top patio, with a little wait time the hostess made it happen. Service, wine and food were outstanding. Our table split a delicious, light cheesecake for dessert. We can't wait to return.
Great view from the outdoor patio, good service, good food.
Great happy hour on the rooftop. Great rose flight. And good deals on cocktails and wine for happy hour. Loved both paninis, Mac and cheese was okay. Pass on the pickle plate.
