About Noble Rot
Noble Rot is an ecosystem. A glacial well hydrates the building and the 3000 sq foot garden on the roof. The vegetables grown there supply the restaurant. For fifteen years, The Rot has educated, entertained and fed this city. Local, national and international media have consistently praised our style. Noble Rot’s situation is unique and our view is extraordinary.

Noble Rot Ratings and Reviews
We had a 5:30pm reservation for 3 on a Saturday and we arrived on time. We were seated immediately. After informing our server that we had 7:30pm theater tickets, we were told no problem. We had a long wait for every course and by the time dessert was finally delivered we were eating standing with our coats on. We made it to the theater as the doors were about to close. Way too much stress for my 87 year old MIL! Noble Rot has been one of my favorite restaurants and I picked it for my birthday celebration because the food is always amazing. That still was the case, but the slow service pretty much ruined the mood.
Had an absolutely wonderful dinner with a group of 6. Our waiter was top-notch. He new everything about the menu, wine, etc. He was very help in making suggestions for dinner and drinks and overall, just treated us like we were his only table--though we most certainly were not. Awesome view and the booths are super comfy and cozy. Highly recommend to all!
I wasn't impressed at all with the gentleman seating people. Food was ok but definitely high priced for what you got. Ordered wine, when arrived was a small glass approximately 1/3 full. Really?? Had made reservations in advance, but had to threaten to leave when seated at one of the only tables with no view!!! Really?? Then, guy seating apparently doesn't like his table decisions questioned. We were at another place earlier which was really fun with great/ friendly staff to come here. I had company from out of town so having them experience Portland's excellent culinary world. The Noble For was a let down.
This is our second visit and I must say, not nearly as good as the first....food was excellent, but the service, not so much!
The female server did not introduce herself, seemed distracted and we had to ask what the soup and pasta specials were...was not friendly and we noticed another server that was interacting with his customers and all were having a good time!
All at our table commented on the lack of service....enjoyed the food and will return and hopefully get another server
We continually enjoy the farm to table scene in Portland; this was our first time to Noble Rot-- and it was delightful. Though it is edging into fall, the balcony seating was still open and offered a beautiful view onto downtown Portland. It was a bit strange to have to take an elevator before reaching the restaurant but it was well worth it when we walked into the bar. Food was delicious and items grown on their own rooftop bar were clearly noted on the menu. The polenta stuffed chilis were a great vegetarian option that didn't feel at all like it was substituting for something. Highly recommend.
My friend and I had lovely meal at Noble Rot this weekend. I’ve been coming here for years, and tonight was the most impressed I’ve been with the food, service and ambiance. Our food was delicious, our server was very attentive, and the view is one of the best in Portland. I can’t wait to go back!
My husband and I dined here on our 2nd wedding anniversary - a tradition that kicked off when we celebrated our first dating anniversary revisiting the destination of one of very our first dates several years ago - sneaking in the last patio day on one of Portland's best 'patios'. (It's now our thing - they can't ever close!) The weather cooperated with us, again, as we were able to enjoy the amazing view from the inside/patio area, with windows wide open. We were greeted warmly by all of the staff, who had been alerted of our special occasion. We also received a complimentary toast of bubbles to celebrate. Now that we're an old married people, we had our 1 year-old with us, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating to her. We only had time for Happy Hour this year, but couldn't leave without a celebratory PBnJ - a must if anyone hasn't tried it!
The food is always good here and the ambiance is normally terrific with a lovely view. Unfortunately, the service was a bit off tonight, other tables were so loud I couldn't hear my friend talk, lots of plates being dropped. Waited far too long to receive our beverages as the place wan't that crowded. Disappointed as it was my friend's first time here. I'm willing to go back- but if the service is off again- even though the food is great, I won't be back.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with another couple at Noble Rot. We arrived on a Tuesday evening early for dinner, were seated promptly and enjoyed wine flights from the menu. All of the wines were aorth tasting. The service was attentive, and our server had good suggestins for sharing a few dishes, and for ordering our entrees. The food was delicious and satisfying. Overall, we had a great anniversary dinner.
Brought some out of town guests to Noble Rot, as it was recommended to me for a great place for spectacular food, great views of PDX, and a lively atmosphere. So, guess my referral really wrote this review, it was 'spot on'. Service was friendly and accommodating, we arrived a bit early for our reservation, hostess set us up outside for a cocktail before our table was ready for dinner...it was a perfect experience, from beginning to the ending.....a flight of Sauternes! My guests loved it, as did I. Will be back,.....I will not necessary wait until I have out of town friends to entertain!
We love Noble Rot. The service is always superior and the food delicious. The cheese plate was especially good. I usally have fish but this time I had the burger, which was great!
I would like to see a few more deserts on the menu. The choices are fairly limited.
Food was great and so was our server. The garden salad was delicious. My only concern was that 3 of the 6 people had horrible stomach cramp hrs after the meal. The 3 that got sick all ate the cous cous. Other than that, the wine flights were wonderful, too.
My husband, son and I were visiting Portland and this restaurant was recommended to us as a place for great food. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was lively, service was impeccable, and most important of all, the food was amazing. Not only did it taste great but it looked wonderful too. If you are lucky enough to get a table on the patio, the view is wonderful, but if not, inside is chic and comfortable. But back to the food: we would highly recommend the salmon and the New York Strip steak. Both were done to perfection. We will definitely go back if we are ever in Portland again.
