Housed on the first floor of the LINE DC hotel in the heart of Adams Morgan, No Goodbyes is an all-day neighborhood hangout by Chef Michael Freeman that taps the farmers, fishers, and small-time ranchers in DC’s own backyard—The Chesapeake Bay—to create an eclectic mix of feel-good dishes morning, noon, and night. Everything on our food menus is from no more than 150 miles away.
Choose-your-own-way-to-dine from several distinct menus and spaces (a restaurant, bar, communal lounge, and counter-service coffee shop), so no matter what time of day it is, there really is no need to say goodbye.

What a great find. The food was great, and our server Jeff made the night memorable. He helped us celebrate a milestone birthday with special attention, care, and even recommended local businesses to serve our tourism needs. We’ll be back!

The food, service and drinks were amazing. First time eating a meal there and it was the best duck I have had in years. The brussels sprouts appetizer was also phenomenal. The value for food was great, on par with other restaurants in the area and very delicious. I've been for the cocktails before and they are always good, but they are also some of the most expensive I've ever had. Everything else was great. Would recommend for a nice night out.

The food was solid, classic American options. The Brussel sprouts and the pimento cheese dip were really good. We didn't love the she-crab dip with the tots. I had the chicken dish which was really good and surprisingly a lot of food. If I knew how big it was I wouldn't have eaten as many apps. I would recommend this restaurant, the atmosphere is fun, especially if you are staying in the hotel.

Server was very nice and the atmosphere was lovely. The prices compared to the size of the food was odd. The frittata was pretty small but it was the most expensive item, which we thought was strange. The food wasn’t very good. The Jonny pancakes were ok but not amazing, they felt really big, they were presented in a messy way and none of the accompaniments were particularly delicious. We were really excited for the latkes with pear butter, but they were over salted, the pear butter wasn’t very buttery and it didn’t cut through the salt and spice like I expected. I hope this was just an off day for the restaurant because the setting and hotel are really beautiful.

I was really excited about this place because I’d been for coffee during the daytime and thought the dinner scene would be really cool. The ambience is definitely really nice and fun so that was up to expectations. However, the menu was very lackluster with a hodgepodge of options, none of which blew my socks off. We had oysters and the herb salad (good - nothing special), the smash burger (yummy! But it’s just a burger), and the catfish hush puppies which were recommended to us after several other items were discouraged by the waitress (very disappointing and just not tasty at all). Additionally, we went for a beer and a glass of cava because the cocktails looked too sweet and were pricey (glad we didn’t go that route). Overall, I’m sad about our experience because I wanted to love it and we spent a decent amount of money. We are saying goodbye to No Goodbyes (at least for dinner service).

I used to love this restaurant. It could have been a bad night for them but it wasn’t a great experience. We had signed up for a special experience menu. It took them over an hour to give us any food. They must have run out of multiple dishes and when they finally dropped some of the food it didn’t match the menu. They tried to pass off raw clams as oysters, three servers came by and said here are the oysters. The salad was supposed to be a bean salad and we were served beets. The server came back to say the chef said beans are in the sauce. The entrees weren’t terrible but most of the food came all at once. They dropped the dessert right as we got our entrees and insisted on putting it on the table. The sorbet was fully melted and it was a tiny piece of brownie. I should’ve taken a picture of it, they should never have served it. We had to laugh because it was just the worst service and dinner I’ve ever had in DC. Needless to say we won’t be going back anytime soon.

This beautiful space feels like it’s still trying to get its bearings after COVID closures. On the positive side, our selections from the limited menu were very tasty though the “large” plates were not. Looking at the online menus now it seems as though we were given a noon menu at 8:30 pm, which may account for the portion sizes. Cocktails were good but a little steep. Staff was friendly but a bit befuddled and under-attentive. Hopefully they’ll find their vibe again as it’s a great neighborhood spot

So disappointing, especially for the price. Server didn’t greet us for 10+ minutes until we went and found her, and then food was bland, small portions, not as described, and just not worth the steep price tag. We loved the restaurants here before so this was quite a surprise.

We had a celebratory dinner for 6 on a Friday night. The room and ambiance is very nice. The food is very good but also quite expensive - $42 for a small steak, which unfortunately had quite a bit of fat on it. The cornbread was seriously delicious. The woman who was our server was terrific, although after we told her we didn’t want dessert, we waited 20 minutes before she asked if we wanted the check. $446 for dinner for 4.

Service was polite but coordination with kitchen was clearly very shaky, with the entrees all coming out a different times. Luckily, we were a close enough party that we ended up splitting the plates as they came out, but if we hadn’t it would have been a very awkward meal as the first entree was delivered 20+ minutes before the last came out.

Overall, the food and drinks were excellent. Standouts were the Radicchio salad and the short ribs. I was promptly seated for my reservation with my best friend of 22 years, who I haven’t seen since late summer. We got caught up catching up, but it soon dawned on us that we had been seated for at least 15 minutes and nobody had come by to even offer us water. The place was dead for a Tuesday, so no reason for such slow service. It was my friend’s first time in the hotel and restaurant, and after tonight’s poor service, it will probably be his last. I was disappointed that service was so slow, and that no waiter/waitress ever came by to at least acknowledge we were there. We were quite hungry and thirsty, and simply didn’t seem acceptable to continue waiting. Therefore, we got up and left with no goodbyes.

Add a true sense of the Chesapeake region to your event with customizable wedding menus crafted with local, seasonal ingredients from award-winning chef Opie Crooks. Then, let us help you curate a drink list with local wines and chef-driven cocktails to match. Eating and drinking at the LINE DC is meant to be as memorable as the event itself.

  • Private party facilities

The LINE DC, once a church, was a built for gathering. With more than 10,000 sq. feet of thoughtfully-considered and versatile LEED Silver Certified indoor and outdoor event space (plus abundant natural light, rooftop views, and a dedicated banquets and catering team), the hotel offers an event experience unlike any other in Washington, DC. From intimate weddings to grand celebrations, from meetings to brand activations to conferences, every event at the LINE is truly memorable. This is the place (it really, really is).
