About Nizza - NYC

Nizza is a casual Italian restaurant located in the heart of Hell's Kitchen. Chef Andy D'Amico uses the cuisine of the Italian Riviera as a starting point for his exploration of Italy. Our house speciality is our "Socca." Socca is a chick pea crepe baked in our brick oven, traditional to the French city of Nice. Our menu has a wonderful selection of antipasti, salads, soups, pizza, pasta and entrees. We were higlighted in 2008 "Cheap Eats" issues by Time Out New York and New York Magazine. As well as Time Out New York's Top 100 food items of 2008.

Nizza really understands the need that some of us have for real gluten-free food. I have celiac disease, so I try to always choose restaurants that get it. Nizza has lots of options for gluten-free food; it has a separate preparation area for GF pasta, for example. The service is great, and the gluten-free bread with dipping sauce is enough reason to go here. It's delicious, and it makes you feel like a 'normal' diner to be able to indulge! The only downside was the GF pizza. The crust didn't hold up, and it became mushy and unappetizing. However, I would definitely eat here again.

This was our first time to Nizza and it will now be a regular occurrence. Our waitress was completely invested in our experience and the food was beautifully presented and quite delicious.

So glad to have discovered this little gem.

Thank you Nizza for creating a lovely memory.

Everything about Nizza was fantastic. I had been wanting to try it for some time after seeing their beautiful burrata appetizer on Instagram but I rarely make it that far uptown. We had Broadway tickets fall in our lap tonight and I immediately made a 6:30 reservation. Due to subway congestion, we weren't going to make on time. I called and said we'd be about 15 min late and they could not have been more accommodating. Subway delays were worse than anticipated and we showed up around 6:55. Patrick could not have been more accommodating and asked us if we were trying to get out in time for an 8pm show (we were) and had us seated within 5 minutes. Our waiter, Carlos, was equally (if not even more) fantastic and attentive and steered us away from any dishes that would have taken too long to come out.

Everything was incredible, from the focaccia bread with oil and whipped ricotta, to the gnocchi al forno and the cacio e pepe all without breaking the bank which a rarity in NYC let alone in the theater district. Cannot recommend it enough - we will definitely be back!

We have visited Nizza every time we are in NYC for gluten free dining. It was one of our favorite places. Last year we were disappointed with our food food for the first time ever. We mentioned this to the manager and he apologized. We visited recently and were disappointed once more.
The shrimp was so fishy we thought it may be off and my daughter ordered a simple spaghetti pomodoro which has always nice but it tasted like they dropped a bowl of chili’s in it. She had to quaff water after every fork full. Perhaps we should have made a fuss but sadly I think we just need to find another place to eat.
It looks like the quality is slipping and we are saddened that it’s not what it used to be.

Starting with crispy calamari and a tomato/pesto buccata, we were reminded again why Nizza is one of our absolute favorite NYC restaurants. The lasagna, Sunday spaghetti and meatballs, and spinach ravioli were delightful entrees on a chilly November night, and the apple tarte we shared for dessert was exquisite. We love the attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and gracious service, as well.

Quaint simple dining place at Hell’s Kitchen. Good value for money. We had a nice bottle of Chianti, the octopus as appetizer which was delicious and a pasta each. I️ had the cream pepper spaghetti which was just how I️ imagined. My husband had the Sunday pasta, he didn’t like the sauce too much. Dessert was the chocolate tiramisu. It came straight out of the fridge so not 100% upto expectation. It’s a nice casual place. Don’t expect any spectacular service

Nizza is a great spot for after theater drinks, appetizers or dinner. Their small pizzas are amazing! And so fresh! This is one of those small places with a great atmosphere that you hope to find in Manhattan-and in the theater district it's a real find.

When we come into NY for a theater weekend, we make our reservation for a preTheater dinner.
Good pizza, salad and dessert if we had time. Manager is a doll. Friendly and apologized for not coming over to talk. We met him last September when we ate there last time. The place was busy but they got us in and out for our evening at a show.

Have to admit it is rather loud in there. Don't know how to fix that.

We love Nizza’s for pre theatre dining. Margaret our waitress was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients since I’m gluten free. They also are cognizant of the time if you are going to the theatre. Try the pasta with butternut squash and chicken sausage. Delicious.
Great meal!

Excellent in every category, though my chicken Milanese wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. However, the portion size, service, and prices made up for all of this. Great place close to theater district. Definitely recommend it.

We ate pre-curtain and the service and food was terrific. Our server was just delightful. We 'shared plates' and the burrata was AMAZING as well as eggplant rollatini. The Socca was just 'good' - a bit dry but I highly recommend itwith something else. Once it is topped and paired with something moist such as the eggplant or the burrata as we did it is out of this world. A mouthful of beautiful flavors.

They were very uptight about giving us a decent table, claiming they were all booked up. We arrived a little after 5 pm and promised to leave at 6. I finally called the manager to get the right table. He was huffy about the whole thing. My gf entree was tasteless. (Usually it's good at this place.) The waiter was wonderful. He tried to make up for management's stupidity.

visited Nizza on recommendation of daughter for pre-theater. Our server and staff were very very accommodating of our schedule as our choices seemingly flew from the kitchen to our table.

I must mention the calamari fritti - it had the lightest batter I think I've ever tasted! Just like a cloud.

In addition the homemade pasta with homemade sausage special was just that - special. And just the right sized portion for before the theater.

Finally I must point out the wine list, heavily weighted to Italians - as it should be - but my only nit was that while it covered both the $40 - $50 range and the $100+ range very well, there was not many choices at the price points in between.

All in all a very nice meal

We had socca (chickpea flour flatbread), crispy brussel sprouts, veg filled ravioli with walnut pesto and a burrata and leek pizza. Every dish was extremely fkavourful and satisfying. Service was polite and efficient. The place has a nice vibe. The large windows were open creating a pleasant ambiance. Thumbs up on all accounts.

Well prepared food and friendly service in a casual environment. Pasta cooked properly and delicious sauces.

If you are gluten free and like Italian food, Nizza should be high on your list in NYC. Offers more than the usual gluten free options. One member of our party is gluten free, and loved that she could order gnocchi. Some in our group preferred the gluten free focaccia bread to the regular focaccia! Sidewalk tables available for great people watching on 9th Avenue. We shall return!
