What Insiders Are Saying
Nix is a grown-up, entirely vegetarian and vegan establishment, in an area near Union Square previously lacking in both such kinds of places.
Excellent vegan dinner with great recommendations from the lovely waitress. I highly recommend the pea puree dumplings they were delicious! So glad we stumbled upon this place through Open Table.
Impeccably executed food with friendly attentive service.
Always a pleasure dining here.
Sorrry much too noisy!

We had a great meal with excellent cocktails to start. The staff was very attentive and helpful with explaining dishes on the menu. The food was so delicious, particularly the cauliflower tempura with steamed buns. Will definitely return to Nix
Great Food, Great Service! Will be back!
Wife and I went there for our anniversary and we were very happy with food choice and our waitress!
I was really excited to try Nix as I had heard good things about the restaurant. I thought the food was delicious: my friend and I ordered the papadum chips with the red pepper and walnut dip, pea dumplings, ribbons of jicama, the cauliflower tempura with the steamed buns, and the potato gnocchi with fiddlehead ferns. The pea dumplings were especially very tasty. In terms of presentation, for a Michelin star restaurant, it was disappointing as well as the service. Our waiter would often disappear, was hard to track down, and overall just very slow service. The tables are also very close together and the noise was loud so it was a little difficult to have conversations.
-Music can be very loud
+(they decreased volume when requested)
Brilliant food!!! Everything was insanely great.
Incredible food and pretty affordable for a Michelin star chef! The staff was incredibly nice and they never made us wait for anything but it didn’t feel rushed either, like it is in some other New York restaurants. 10/10 would recommend!
We went here with my partner and his family, who are vegetarian. It was an amazing dining experience, great food, interesting recipes, and nice service. Only negative is that the portions are a bit small.
egg in a whole had too much cheese
vegan pancake was very crumbly
Excellent restaurant. Incredible how they have such good food only vegetarian!
Creative delicious vegetarian -
It was a nice place to visit on a hot day in NYC! Tasty clean food. Would like to return with my friends to experience other items on the menu as I alone could not eat all that my eyes could see.
We went for brunch and it was delicious. I definitely recommend getting the pancakes, the polenta fries and the egg scramble. Also, our waitress was amazing; super nice and helpful. Highly recommend this place.
It’s was nice place.
We were looking forward to have dinner at Nix. Unfortunately, the experience was rather dissapointing. It was not the staff, nor the ambiance, but the food was dissapointing. The “lighters” were okayish, but not of the quality one would expect in a Michelin star restaurant. The asparagus with eggs were rather tasteless. In general, the presentation was nice however, the dishes were covered under a layer of sauce. It affected the structure and the flavours of the food. We had expected much more after reading other reviews.
As a long time vegetarian I was very excited to try this venue. Like most other vegetarians I have grown accustomed to having limited choices at most restaurants but in most cases the meals are usually pretty decent.
I figured a vegetarian restaurant with a Michelin Star! This will be good! ... But alas it wasn’t.
To me it seems like it’s more geared towards meat eaters. The presentation of the signature tempura cauliflower looks like pork, and with it covered in BBQ sauce it tastes that way also. We tried the cold rolls, dips, Burrata, dumplings, cauliflower and had the pineapple for desert. I have had better variations of all these things at what I would call pretty standard restaurants, nothing seemed to have an amazing taste. Just Standard or in some cases very bland (the Burrata).
Pricing is reasonable for a Michelin Star but just don’t expect to be blown away.
The best brunch I have ever had. The flavores were un believable
We really enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious and there was a nice variety. If you don't like mushrooms, though, it might be a little harder. For starters, the eggplant was very tasty and the bread was super. We ended up ordering a lot of bread! Other dishes we would recommend are the pea dumplings and the jicama ribbons. We had the gnocchi for a heavier dish as well as the shitake cacao e peppers (spelling?) Which was tasty and earthy. The pineapple desert is definitely worth ordering ahead of time. You will not miss the meat!
The dishes were all very creative and amazing. The portions are a little bit small though.
Went for weekend brunch, had polenta fries, dips & bread and scrambled eggs with veggies. Everything was delicious. It’s a nice atmosphere and servers are very friendly. It’s a great location in Greenwich Village.
The food was phenomenal. Our waiter didn’t seem to know as much about the food as she might should have, but it was a lovely meal. The roast pineapple was a highlight, as was the jicama salad.
What an amazing meal - every dish was a happy surprise of delicious, layered, and in some cases wonderfully powerful flavors and spice. The service was wonderful - was there for a birthday and the wait staff made our experience welcoming, celebratory, and yet gave us plenty of room to be to ourselves. We'll be back. Thank you NIX for a wonderful evening!
All the food we tried was delicious but the portions were very small for the price that we paid. I enjoyed the mint and pea dumplings and the spicy tofu the best! Would go again for a special occasion for a light dinner only.
The restaurant was chosen by our vegetarian daughter as part of the celebration for her graduation. It is a great restaurant with a beautiful aesthetic. Exactly the kind of calm and pleasant atmosphere you'd hope for given the kind of restaurant it is.
The menu had a great selection of interesting dishes. I thought some of the items we ordered were world class; some were good. Nothing was bad but maybe not quite at my level of expectation for a Michelin star restaurant.
Our server asked if was ok if she "staged" our meal for us and we of course said yes. Service seemed kind of slow and while at first we were ok with it even though things seemed to be moving slowly. By the end the meal we were getting antsy to move on. Only at the end of the meal did a manager come by to explain that they were short staffed and to apologize for the slow service. With an earlier explanation we might have chosen not to have each dish come one at a time.
Very good service, delicious food, good customer service
The meal was wonderful. As someone who isn’t vegetarian, it was such an experience to appreciate how exquisite each dish was without the enhancement of meat. The service was wonderful, as the servers knew my dining companion was lactose intolerant and came back after taking our order to make sure the scant quantity of butter used in one of the dishes was okay. I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for the lemon-butter combination.
A wonderful evening with an amazing array of different flavours beautifully combined. We have been to many Michelin star restaurants around the world but never a fully vegetarian one. As vegetarians for the last 30 years this was a truly special find. We will be coming back ever time we visit New York!
The service and ambiance were great. The food was 3.5 stars. Their jicama ribbon plate and the bamboo rice were excellentTheir pineapple cake had way too much cream. The Michelin service was excellent.
There are very good plates and different menus for vegan vs. vegetarian. My only issue is the price. I don’t know why the beer at any restaurant has to be $8+. A glass of wine is $12+. I would have ordered another beer if it wasn’t $12.
Fantastic food and cocktails!
Wonderful atmosphere but overpriced dishes. Low value for money in a wonderful ambiance :)
Best veg I’ve ever had. Creative, intense flavors with visually impressive presentations. Service impeccable. Two celeb sightings last two times I’ve been, very ‘in’ crowd. Bar also outstanding.
EXCELLENT service and delicious food. Love this place!
Soo good. You can taste the fresh pear in the pear cardamon soda. Everything cooked to perfection. Extremely reasonable prices for the quality of food. So much better than ABC V in every way. And don't forget dessert - even better than the meal if that is possible.
I have been a strict vegan for one year and I avoid SOY like the plague. Almost everything on their brunch menu had tofu or soy based ingredients. Both my husband I ordered the vegan burger which I assumed was made out of beans or etc. We both felt very sick 30 minutes into brunch and asked our waitress what it was made with. She told us it was Seitan which I know is not soy based but I feel the ingredients should have been listed on the menu. I have been Gluten Free for 20 years and it made me incredible ill, I also also eat plant based burgers or sandwhiches without the bun which I obviously did here. I was extremely bummed bc it ruined my mothers day by being ill!
Perfect Mother’s Day!!
The most beautifully presented, fresh, creative food.
I really wanted to love this place but was very underwhelmed and disappointed. To begin with, we had a reservation at 7:45pm and we showed up at 7:35pm, we were told our table is paying and they will seat us soon.7:50pm they kept saying the same thing, and then the hostess, I guess looking at the time, said she’ll seat us anyway. We head inside and there were at a minimum 3 tables of twos ready and a few other larger tables.
Once we got seated, we waited a while for someone to bring us menus. I looked around and saw 3 waiters standing around the cashier area in the back, I thought I’d just wait until our server came around. Then a server came to the table beside us, I raised my hand to gesture that we needed his attention, he walked past us and to the other 3 waiters talking around the cashier area. My friend and I were a little taken back but watched the 4 cashiers, they weren’t doing anything so I waved to them and the guy that walked past us came over. We asked if we could get some menus and he said “I was on my way to get it.” This actually made us chuckle a bit because he definitely was not. I think maybe this upset him, for the next while he would go to both of the tables beside us to take food and drink orders but would skip us every time. We didn’t bother raising our hands either because I felt that he was upset. From my experience working at restaurants I don’t think the service area is divided amongst waiters that would skip a table clearly set in one area of the restaurant, but later another waiter came to us and she took our orders.
For food we ordered the tandoor bread with eggplant dip, the cauliflower tempura steamed buns, the mushroom cacio e pepe, and the bamboo fried rice. The food was good but not so delicious that I would go back. The fried rice was the most tasty. One other issue was just the noise level, I felt like I really had to speak loud and lean in to listen to hear my friend. Overall I don’t think I will come back.
