What a surprise - gorgeous interiors, courteous staff, seamless service, great energy... and not to mention - amazing food!! What a lovely and sweet experience.
Creative menu offering both Vegan and Vegetarian selections. Excellent quality. Great service.
Wonderful food, exceptional service
Overall, we had a lovely evening. The hostess seemed to need a bit more training, but our waiter was excellent (attentive, kind, enthusiastic). Fairly limited, but satisfactory wine list and house cocktails. We ordered the vegan tasting menu--the first course (two spreads and crudite) was fresh and tasty, second course (kombucha squash dumplings) were very flavorful and unexpectedly unique, third course (yams and tofu) were a bit overly sweet and oddly textured, respectively, for our tastes. All in all, a nice experience. I would return.
Such a warm and friendly staff throughout our experience. Menu was explained wonderfully and we were given the option of vegetarian or strictly vegan menus. Each course we had was absolutely delicious and balanced in flavors. Really wonderful evening. I'm not vegetarian but I will come back here!
Food quality, service, and ambiance were great. However, the quantity of food and value was severely lacking. We ordered twice as much as the waiter suggested and still were left hungry after the meal. This was our second time visiting, but we still felt the food quality was good.
Server was condescending.
We were not told when we made our reservation that was for 2 o'clock that they would turn the heat off at 3:30 to make us leave.
When you make a date if there are restrictions, they should be told to you up front.
Food was good but not worth it
Absolutely wonderful! My tastebuds were taken on a unique journey of flavor & texture. I was especially delighted to be introduced to new vegetable and ingredient pairings I have never tried before. Nix was an absolute treat -bring your friends & family!
The food was excellent, well prepared, nicely presented and wonderfully tasty.
The pre-dinner cocktails were creative and flavorful, the Wine was a bit overpriced for the selection by the glass. The staff remembered to place a candle in the dessert as requested when making the reservation.
Only negative was being rushed through appetizers and dinner. Dinner selections arrived prior to appetizers being finished and wait staff constantly asked if they could remove our plates when there was obviously food still to be enjoyed.
Took my vegan friend out for her birthday and we both loved the food and cocktails!
Nix was a delicious treat for us! Every part of the meal was exquisitely prepared, and the ambiance was perfect for our evening out.
This was a very disappointing evening out for the 2 of us. We arrived on time for our reservation, and were seated at the very back of the restaurant at a rectangular table for 4, next to the kitchen . The lighting was unappetizing - mostly stark white light from the kitchen, and no candle ( the rest of the restaurant had candles). The service, although pleasant when he was at our table, was virtually non-existent. We sat for 10 minutes before being asked if we wanted to order - no question of starting with a drink. I asked if we might order a drink first, which we did. For my co-diner, that was the only drink they were offered all evening, despite sitting with an empty glass for most of the main course. We sat with our empty plates for a while until the maître’d came and finally cleared our table.
All in all, not what we were expecting. The food was very good, by the way, but the experience was not.
Good start with the house hummus and red pepper and walnut dips with tandoor bread. As non- New Yorkers, we are not used to paying $6 for bread, but this was worth it. Even better was the squash dumplings - the wrappers were so delicate. The only bump in the meal were the fermented collard greens beneath the falafel - both my wife and I thought the greens were inedible. The server offered to take them back but we wanted to finish the tasty falafel. Finally, the kale and beet salad with crispy chickpeas and labneh was delightful light finish.
Our server surprised us by taking the falafel dish off of our bill.
We didn't try the well reviewed pineapple dessert because you had to order it with the rest of your meal and we didn't know how full we would be and that turned out to be the right call.
I literally am blown away by my experience at NIX. Not only did they make my partner’s birthday experience super special, but they just went the extra step to make us beyond happy. I will 100000% be back, ugh definitely talk to their reservationist and wine specialist for ideas on how to approach their delicious menu. Lorena is AMAZING, and so is the food! TOTALLY RECOMMEND
Best vegetarian restaurant in nyc!
Table was ready, service and food quality was excellent. Wish they gave serving spoons when dishes were brought out. Would return again.
Best choice for vegetarian gourmets. The truffle gnocchi are amazing. It's a little loud, but bearable.
Creative Menu - Could use some textiles to absorb noise.
Great food, nice atmosphere. Enjoyed my experience!
Food excellent. Interesting menu choices. Lovely lighting and comfortable sound level for conversation. Will go again to try new things on menu
This was the best vegetarian food I have had in a long time, food was fantastic and when I am in town I will definitely go back.!
My husband and I split the tofu scramble and patty melt. The patty melt was good but the tofu scramble tasted a little off. I'm not sure what the exact cause was but something was definitely bad because we both had extremely bad stomach aches after the meal.
This was a wonderful experience for my vegan daughter's 20th birthday. The atmosphere is quiet and upscale while remaining casual and comfortable. The food was presented beautifully and was absolutely delicious. Flavors were combined in novel ways with great success. I wish we lived nearby and could return more regularly. Thank you for a fantastic experience!
The best vegan food that we’ve eaten ever! Could not recommend Nix enough! Utmost compliments to the chef and to the staff!
Third time in Nix and the experience was not that good. My Bloody Mary was out of proportion and not mixed at all. The hummus wasn't as good as other times. The Naam bread was really good. I had the beet burger which really was not as good as I anticipated. Service was not as professional as you would expect from a one star Michelin restaurant.
I hope next time it delivers as expected.
The food is innovative vegetarian and very good but their menu is a disaster; it organized only for sharing and the portion sizes are highly variable. So there is no way to plan for portions or meal. This makes it challenging for parties of more than 2 people. I recommend they offer tasting menus to take the guesswork out of what would be an excellent place to eat.
We had a wonderful new years eve at The NIX. The only "problem" was that we could not finish our dessert, as we were so full already.
Food was mediocre but service and everything else was great!
Very delicious vegan food. The service was very attentive and very friendly. The noise level is a little bit higher than normal. I really can recommend this place.
Exzellent food, very polite waiters in a very noisy environment .
Wonderful atmosphere, great service and creative vegan cuisine.
We will definitely go back
Seems like a case of the Emperor having no clothes. We are a partially vegetarian family and were very excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews and the Michelin star. But the food, whole fine, was completely unmemorable -- no unique flavors, no preparation that came as a surprise, nothing that a good home cook could not have done. The service was very slow and indifferent, even though the restaurant was not full. $8 for a piece of pita bread and $12 for a small bowl of raw vegetables (I kid you not) -- we go to upscale restaurants all the time and don't mind paying for good value, but at this place the joke is on the customer.
It was our anniversary and we were treated like a king and queen but not fussed over so much that it interrupted our dinner. As always the food was amazing!
Went here for our anniversary. Really nice spot, the hostess was extremely welcoming and nice (I don’t know her name but she was an older lady who had an accent). The wait staff was attentive yet distant at the same time. The ambiance was intimate with dim lighting and candles lit everywhere. They gave us moscato on the house for our special occasion. Honestly the most disappointing thing to me was the food. The dishes were really good but some of the stuff we ordered were a little TOO seasoned - like the cauliflower tempura. It tasted as if the lid fell off the pepper shaker while dispensing and they just said, screw it keep it all on there. The pan seared potato gnocchi was perfect though mannnnnn that was good! Overall I’ll still give it 5 stars but personally, I expected the food to taste a little better. Thanks for a great night!!
Excellent experience - start to finish. Friendly greeting. Interesting menu. Delicious food. Fun wine list.
Food was fantastic, service was good, but I have never been so hot in a restaurant. The woman at the table across from us had taken her top layer off and was down to a tank top.
Food creative but too little protein and too heavy on the carbs and fat. Their rules made me feel like the customer was less important than the chef: 1. Instead of them phoning to confirm, you are required to phone them the morning of the reservation- and then they don’t answer or reply to your voice message so you don’t know if they got it. 2. They won’t seat you until the party is all there - even with vacant tables and them having my credit card guarantee, and 3. You can’t order appetizers first - the whole order has to be placed at once because “ it’s easier for them.” It would be easier for them, and for me, if I never go back. And the 1 Michelin star is not credible.
Box had a beautiful ambience and the food was very good and worth the money. The service was also timely and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my vegetarian Friends or people who want to try vegetarian food for a change
NIX never disappoints. All but inveterate meat, poultry and fish eaters should take advantage of what for me is a neighborhood gem and for others a destination restaurant. Since it opened and garnered a Michelin star, it has alway been a warm and welcoming staff as well as the incredible flavors emerging from its back of the house kitchen. The only improvement for a frequent visitor like myself would be a few more specials to vary the menu offerings.
The food was good, the service ok, I thought the restaurant needs much more light, you cannot see what u are eating.
