Food was fine. Service wasn’t attentive — at least for a place with one Michelin Star. I had to request water on multiple occasions. We weren’t provided with serving utensils or clean plates, except one time — and this was after repeatedly asking for these things. Interestingly, waiter stood around and didn’t seem to communicate my request to anyone. (Or, as a shortcut, he could’ve just grabbed a couple spoons and handed them to us.) As a result, all the flavors and textures of our dishes essentially ran together. Waiter came by maybe three times the entire evening. Food had great potential, but we couldn’t really enjoy it when the tartness of the tomatillo sauce was mixed with the savory nori of the bamboo rice. Had high hopes for this place, but, as I noted, the quality of the service impacted the food and experience overall.
I was pleased to find this high-end vegetarian restaurant within walking distance of my apartment. The waiter's recommendations were very good and we enjoyed the food
Cocktails tasted over-mixed/watered down. Food was quite good, especially the tofu skin pockets. Service was attentive and kind.
lovely interior and space, quiet enough to talk. Food was nice. However, staff were off hand and didn't seem to care.
Food and drinks were amazing. Kitchen did mess up my eggs order and my friends were halfway through their meals before my food came, but the server had my meal re-prepared and the food was very very good.
A great find for vegetarians .. in new york city for brunch.
Food is wonderful! Highly recommend it. Service was good from our waitress,
Amazing food, excellent service.
Good food, accommodating staff, great setting.
Great food. Walked over 30 blocks to get there and every step was worth it.
Outstanding restaurant that really should be in the top tier of culinary experiences in NYC. Service was excellent! I can not say enough about the attentiveness we received during our meal. I recommend the Tempura Cauliflower and Roasted Gnocchi...just incredible. For dessert the maple custard was perfect...the right level of post entree sweetness and portion size. Even if you’re not a vegetarian, that’s me, I highly recommend Nix to expand your pallet. You won’t regret it!
We spent an excellent time. Food was just exceptional , professiona and caring service. The food is very ingenious and the place very quiet at the beginning of the service then it becomes more animated.
We showed up on time for our reservation and then waited 10 minutes for a table. Ok I get it they had a few tables who had paid but were lingering. What I do not understand is that almost from the moment they served us food someone came along asking if they could clear. And this was even when the plates were half full of food. We were the last seating of the evening. They did not need the table back. What annoyed me most was not that they were rushing us out of the restaurant but that as I now know the whole staff is skilled rushing people out, why did they not rush out the other people who were not rushed and lingered after their bill was paid and caused us to wait
absolutely brilliant. food was amazing, service was fantastic, we will definitely be coming back.
Really good quality food. I'm not a vegetarian and this is still one of my favorite restaurants.
Food was so slow and not great service
Food was excellent, service was fine, but were not seated until 8:15 despite having a 7:30 reservation.
Thanksgiving vegan meal not fantastic but nice to have the option. Dessert was nice
Thanksgiving dinner at Nix sounded great, and much of it was very good. The food (mostly vegan) overall was quite tasty, but it was too much and too rushed. The wine choices are always excellent. The main problem we had was the inappropriate and way too loud music for the occasion. When we mentioned this (twice), we were told that it lessens the noise of the clinking dishes! No offer was made to turn it down or change it.
Thanksgiving
Superb Thanksgiving dinner. This is vegan heaven
Very creative foods. Great service. Wonderful!
Awesome vegetarian food, outstanding service. All good!
Delicious food, amazing flavours and service was fantastic! Wild definitely recommend. The Squash dumplings had flavours I’ve never tasted before, very unique and tasty!
Great experience. Choices enticing.
Service commendable and professional.
We could enjoy this restaurant weekly.
Always love dining at Nix. Service is excellent and food is outstanding.
I just happened upon Nix on a current list of NYC restaurants and made a reservation thinking it would be a nice change of pace. It was incredible.
Went to celebrate my wife’s birthday and was thoroughly amazed by the cocktails, food and overall experience. Can’t wait to go back!
Delicious!
Love the egg in a hole for brunch! 🥚 🕳
I'm ambivalent - this visit wasn't as good as the other visits we had.
We came in for brunch, when I ordered a cappuccino, it came looking like very stale drip coffee, which wasn't prepared correctly nor with care - I had to return is - and when the waitress came later to ask why, I was pretty shocked - if she had seen that cup, or dared tasted it, I doubt she would understand how they dared charging $6 for it.
The food itself was good, the dessert took forever to come - and the waitress only let us know after 20 minutes we were waiting for it.
The other dishes were pretty good - so if they fixed the service and the coffee, I would recommend
Good food with interesting plates including the cauliflower tempura, fried pineapple.
Amazing vegetarian food. It will convert hardened omnivores.
Everything was delicious, particularly the kabocha squash dumplings. The service was perfect.
The food was SO AMAZING! The service was great, and level of noise is ok.
But we insist: THE FOOD!!!! OMG! Vegan heaven!
Food and staff are always great here. Best gnocchi in town.
Great vegetarian/vegan restaurant, candle lit, love the atmosphere.
Happy to finally find such a place in NYC.
The stuff was very professional. We have nice table in the corner.
Their famous Cauliflower Tempura was delicious, as well as Puffs for dessert.
Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. (Michelin star well deserved;)
Overall I highly recommend this place and will be back soon.
So...let me start by saying that I've eaten here several times, and the food is always FANTASTIC in all caps. I like the room, and the servers have always been perfect. This is why I bring people visiting from out of town to this restaurant and have done so several times. Last night though there was one glitch that I just can't get over, which was super annoying. Again, I was entertaining an out of town guest and we had a reservation for 6:15. I arrived a few minutes early and was told to wait at the bar. I ordered a cocktail (which was delicious), and my friend texted at 6:15 to say she was stuck in a Lyft and the GPS said she'd by there at 6:30 on the nose if not a minute or two before. I went up to the hostess and said, "Hi--my friend just texted. She's stuck in traffic, but she'll be here by 6:30, hope that's okay"...etc. The response was: "We only hold tables for 15 minutes so if she's not here by 6:30, then you can eat at the bar." When I pushed back, she said, "What if she doesn't come at all?" Well, she is coming. I just told you that. She would not budge. So now I'm stressed out. I don't want to eat at the bar. At 6:25, my friend texts and says she is literally 2 minutes away. I go to the hostess and ask if I can sit at the table if I start ordering food. She VERY RELUCTANTLY says yes, but I have to promise to be out the door by 8 so she can seat someone else. I mean...am I crazy or is this ridiculous? What a stressful way to start a meal. And this was a Sunday night. And btw no one needed the table at 8. Honestly every single other part of the experience was A+. So I'm so disappointed that the introduction to the restaurant is this horribly stressful experience with the hostess. A half hour, I could understand. 15 minutes? Really? And nowhere are you told this beforehand, it is worth noting.
Delicious innovative vegan cuisine...I felt confident bringing my non vegan friends and relatives to Nix
Love the food and vibe at Nix. The menu is creative and plant-based, which the vegans and omnivores in our group appreciated equally. Service was a bit slow, which allowed us to catch up unencumbered, but also meant that we were without coffee and then without cocktails for quite some time.
The service and food NEVER disappoints. Nic is my go to vegan friendly spot in the city.
