Very cool dining experience, and food was amazing!!
It's still awesome - Aaron is a polished professional and the food is and always is delicious
Waiters are not of a high caliber for the price level of the restaurant. They don’t have any good qualities of a very well trained waiter. They are just whatever not bad but not the best either. The food is good but they don’t have the options that other Japanese bbqs offer. Also the prices are too high for what you get. Other similar options like Gyu Kaku are tastier and cheaper. May not be as authentic as this place but I prefer Gyu over this place by a long shot since they offer authentic and more modern offerings as well.
ordered all the meats.
cooked all the meats.
ate all the meats.
Amazing service. Attention to detail was amazing. The food was comparable to that in Japan. Couldn’t complain about the place. It’s an amazing experience overall.
This place is awesome. Service is always top notch and the servers are always great. The food is outstanding. As someone who tries to stay up on all the best food options locally, this one has been a great find. Been several times now and it always hits the mark. Meats are seasoned amazingly, the veggies are some of the best I've had, great beer and booze selection. Would recommend to anyone who likes great food and unique dining experience.
Excellent as always 😁
Great food and the cook your own experience is wonderful.
I’ve gone to Niwa for simple dinner dates with my husband, taking business partners out to eat, and for family birthdays. The quality and consistency of food and service takes me back to Niwa time and time again. Depending on what you order, it can get a bit pricy. However, it is worth the price you pay. For special occasions, they will go out of their way to make you off menu items that are to die for.
Loved it! Wik be back soon. Great food and service.
We went for the Meat Day special on the 29th of the month and it was amazing!!! We also had miso soup, okonomiyaki and wagyu deviled eggs. Everything was perfectly delicious. I love this restaurant. The drinks are fantastic too. The experience is so different from your everyday meal. Plus our server was so friendly and helpful. I’ve already made a reservation to go back. Love it!
Good food! Tuesday happy hour all day is the way to do it. Not a big fan of the dessert
We have dined here before and decided to partake in the restaurant week menu, and it did not disappoint! It gave us the opportunity to try some dishes we never had before, and enjoy old favorites. The rib eye cut special was fantastic. Also our server did a wonderful job taking care of us. Thank you!
We had a party of 8. The service was excellent.......Sarah did an outstanding job. Food was great and we loved the atmosphere.
Hubby and I had date night at Niwa on Saturday, August 25. We went on the early side being old fogies and the service was phenomenal. We chose restaurant week menu which was an excellent value (and even included a piece of A-5 Wagyu!) plus ordered another item or two ala carte. Flavors were off the charts. We each enjoyed a mixed drink as well. I highly recommend the Lavender Fields drink. Entire experience was amazing. Also excellent attention to detail such as a dedicated pair of tongs for the raw chicken. Bravo, Niwa. Can't wait to go back.
Second time here during a one week vacation. I trust it that much.
We love this place. Our college age kids always want to come here when they are in town. Everybody gets exactly what they want and the sides (mushrooms, corn, etc.) are wonderful. The cuts of meat are tender and it's fun to cook your own food; for some reason, we always have more and livelier conversations here while everyone is cooking. Happy hour is a huge deal! Also, the hangar steak is delicious! Niwa is one of our favorite places in Dallas.
The meats and sides were very salty and the service was not that great.
Some of the servers are a bit scattered and even though we made reservations it seemed like the receptionist didn’t know we were coming.
Regardless our experience was great and while the service was a bit here and there, our servers were very nice and accommodating.
My husband and I celebrated my birthday here and it was a lot of fun. It was different and delicious and made for a memorable night. The Niwa salad was very good with a roasted sesame dressing, but it was huge! The karage (fried chicken) was delicious dipped in the sauce with the twang of the pickle. The spinach package was so buttery and perfectly seasoned as well as the shrimp and asparagus. The rib eye and filet mignon were fork tender and just the right size. We ended the evening with pork jowl which was my favorite. Strips of tender pork cooked very quickly.....how can you go wrong? We were having such a good time cooking the meats and trying everything that we forgot to order rice, but I don't think you need it.
Excellent is an understatement! The entire staff, the food, the entire experience was incredible from start to finish. My wife & I will definitely be back and invite friends & family! A very special thank you to our server, Sarah, who was knowledgeable and walked us thru each step. Thank you Niwa for a great 23rd wedding anniversary dinner!
I absolutely love Niwa. The A-5 is my favorite. Tried to corn for the first time as well and it’s amazing. I will be back soon!
Great food and unique atmosphere. They were very busy on a Friday night and I would have liked to see the server a little more considering the nature of how you order several dishes one after the other here.
(Our server seemed to disappear for about 10-15 minutes at a time.)
Overall, good experience and food was great. Just a little slow with the service. (Drinks and food took longer than I would have expected.)
Wonderful experience every time 😁
Food was great however we ordered so much that we didn’t realize they forgot our shrimp until we got home
Went on a date with my girlfriend on a Monday. Nicole was our server and was absolutely amazing. Previously, I’ve been there and was so good I had to share my experience.
It’s a hidden gem. - Service, food, ambiance, etc., impeccable.
Moving forward this will definitely be one of my go-to spots!
I come here just about every other week, always a great time
The food an service were good, but the pace at which the entrees arrived was overwhelming- they could do a better job of spreading items out
Fun and Fabulous!! Great food and great service! We had a little bit of everything, our favs were filet mignon and the beef belly. Enjoy!!
What a great meal. Food awesome, staff awesome, experience awesome. Whoever owns this place knows how to train a staff and kitchen. Everything was beyond great!!!
Wonderful experience as always
I’m obsessed with this place. Please don’t go here and make them busy and potentially hinder my chances of being able to walk in and get the table of my choice. Did I mention I’m obsessed with this place? The food is fresh and consistent and delicious. And fun! Love loooooove love Niwa!!!
Tuesday night happy hour is the best meal in Dallas. I will be back every opportunity i have!
We are visiting Dallas this week and made reservations in advance at Niwa. We got pretty lucky in that Tuesday is all day happy hour, so the food and drink prices were great! I read a lot of reviews and was a little worried about the service, but I have to say, that was the best part of the whole night. The service was amazing - our main waiter was so attentive and helpful and all of the other people working there were on top of us for water refills, clearing the table, etc. We were there with our 3 kids - age 17, 10 and 9. All loved it, as did we. This is saying a lot, as my husband was very skeptical going in.
Our favorite for the food was: Miso Skirt Steak, Hanger Steak, and the veggie sides (zucchini, shishito peppers, and mushrooms).
The Lavender Fields is a great cocktail for those who don’t want a sweet drink and live gin and bubbles! Delish!
Food, Service, Vibe...all Aces
Great dining experience.
Took girlfriend there for her birthday and immediately became our favorite restaurant. It was an exceptional experience and we look forward to going back.
Look the food is super good quality. The people I love in this world had fun. What else matters.
Adriel was our server for the 3rd time. He recognized us as soon as we walked in and greeted us with such warmth and it makes coming here THAT much better. Way to go yall..
We always look forward to coming here cause the food is always phenomenal and it is such a fun experience. The wait can and does get long on the nights and weekends but it's always worth it. Cocktails are amazing too. 10/10 will return many times.
The food was spectacular! I love the experience. The bartender ane hostess we're absolutely fabulous. My only complaint would be that our waitress was a little dry and inattentive however the rest of the staff was so good I had no time to complain. Loved it!
Delicious food, good ambiance. My husband and I are huge fans of Japanese food and usually skeptical but Niwa did not disappoint!
