We had a great time! It was our first time going and we will definitely be back!
The food is excellent but the price is also high.
Very disappointed in the food as this is not my first time dining. I’m a local and bring people in from out of town. Japanese cuisine takes pride in the skill of the knife. The meat and veggies that we ate could not be eaten with chopsticks and had to be cut before out on the grill. Really unhappy. Spent $154 without tip for 2 people.
If you like Actual Korean BBQ...don’t do it.
I guess you pay for the area? I ordered Beef Belly, zucchini, and rice. FYI everything you order is priced separately including the rice. I believe the only seasoning that was available in kitchen was salt, everything was so beyond salty! To the point I was so grateful for the plain white rice to try to wash the meat down with.
Unfortunately my first experience there was not so good, my friend got corn, which was salty as well, and the filet. She said the filet was good, but tiny! So basically smaller than an appetizer.
Price breakdown: filet, corn, rice, cocktail =$35
Zucchini, Beef Belly (4 strips around bacon size) rice, shot of saki= $20
I was hungry after the meal..pretty disappointed.
Great place to eat at with great food and an amazing atmosphere!!!
Everyone was having a great time and the food was awesome. Have the old fashioned and cherry oleander
Awesome food and experience! Great for special occasions or date night.
Great food. Fun experience for a group. The prices on the menu are for 3.5 oz portions, so you will likely end up ordering several different items. The service was excellent and explained everything honestly and clearly.
Food was good and reasonably priced. Wasn’t a fan of the cocktail before dinner and service was slow. That has to do with the restaurant being a fancy place. Leave yourself about an hour and half for dinner. Parking was hard to find as it was a Weekend.
LOVED it. We always have a great time here.
Everything post seating but the check in experience was disappointing. There was a person working at check in. Answering the phone. Playing around with an iPad and very studiously ignoring the people waiting. I was politely waiting to be at least looked at when another person just pushed past me and asked for a seat. The lady
Food, drinks, and service were great as always.
Felt unorganized for a high end restaurant. Waiter forgot some items. For the price I don’t think it was worth it. Gyu Kaku another Japanese bbq restaurant, is amazing for the price. I think they need to take notes from them to be honest. Portion was terrible for the price at Niwa.
Food was fantastic for the Valentine’s Day fixed menu. The A5 Wagyu was worth every penny. My only beef was that the wait staff seemed like they were phoning it in. While this is to be expected from most restaurants where servers know they are guaranteed a check amount, I was a bit disappointed to see it at my favorite restaurant in Dallas.
Luckily the courses were so fantastic that I still had to give this place a very well-deserved 5 stars.
This was a fantastic first experience! Every bite was thoughtful and delicious. We were blown away, from the cocktails to dessert. Our server was accommodating, as we had a show to get to, but still kept the service top notch. We can’t wait to back with friends.
A great dinner! Amazing food! The room temp was cold though
We ended up having one more to our party than originally planned. Hostess (wavy dark hair with bangs and glasses) seemed very off put even though we were willing to wait an extra hour for a larger table. We waited no problem, as the fault was our own. However, her attitude rubbed me the wrong way. When we left to go have drinks while waiting my friend even commented on the way she handled me. I use the word handled because that’s how it felt. Not accommodating what so ever, just handled. I have been in the industry 10 years and definitely understand busy nights and the stress that comes with it, but we were not being demanding, honestly would’ve even been okay waiting longer.
Not what I expected and definitely caught me off guard.
Oh! So lovely! The food was delicious and my waitress was absolutely amazing!!!
Niwa is always a fun experience. The food is great but a bit pricey. The service is always excellent. And the drink selection was solid.
Niwa is the most perfect spot for a date. Great environment, fast service. I absolutely love all the servers and the food is DELICIOUS. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a different date night or even girls night.
So worth it for the price!
Will definitely come back!
The service was good. The drinks and food were great, but after spending $150.00 on drinks and dinner, we felt like we needed to stop on the way home and get something to eat.
The food and drinks are amazing. My wife and I love the atmosphere there. The music, the lighting and the aesthetics. Our server, Jason, was awesome and very friendly. Highly recommended
More of an evening spot. Great value prefix for lunch
Everything was going nice until a plate of asparagus was spilled on our party. Afterwords the manager gave us a business card and said they would cover any dry cleaning but didn’t offer any gu
Love this place! Food super fresh, good service and lots of sake to pick from. I enjoyed trying all the different options in my own grill. The asparagus was my fave!
Guys night downtown! Our server Stephanie was top notch kudos to her. Meat, meat, and more meat ... that you can grill yourself “Like a Man”! Everything we ate from the belly to the tongue to the steak cuts and then our several orders of A5 to close things down was absolutely phenomenal. We will be back. Come get your meat on!!!
Theres a great charm to this place. It’s comfy and quiet, overall. And since you’re cooking at your own pace, a great date experience. You can really get to know your date over drinks and dinner without a rush. The food quality is great. Nice cuts and proteins to choose from. Service was awesome. Very knowledgeable waiter. Cocktails were amazing. Will definitely be going back!
We had a play afterwards, and they kept it moving for us.
I love Niwa. We eat here about 1x a month and I’m never disappointed. This last time some of the food was very slow to come out. And we were almost done with our main course when the last meat selection was brought out, after a few requests to check on it. Aside from that still one of my fav restaurants.
I love their food. But Everytime I make a reservation I always end up still having to wait approx 10-20 mins which is frustrating when I take the time to make a reservation. It is also pretty loud.
The Japanese BBQ was something different and fun! All the choices the waiter recommended were spot on.
Niwa is becoming my go-to for a nice evening with friends and family. Consistently enjoyable, great cocktails and truly delicious food. Our server, Tyler, was excellent and the ambiance is a nice blend of popular but intimate. Don’t often leave reviews but this place has earned every star.
Everything about the restaurant and meal was great, but the portions you got seemed quite small for the price paid. My date and I ordered a meat, fish, mushroom side, asparagus side, and two sides of rice. When the meat portion arrived, I was amused at the tiny eight cubes of meat. The small package of fish to grill didn't allow us to see the amount of food contained.
Overall, my first time eating here. And while it was pleasant to be able to cook my own food at the table, the pricing seemed a bit high for the amount of food served.
Great! Delicious food
Delicious cook in front of yourself experience. Was able to order more as we went so it ended with everyone full but not too full. Refectory happy guests when we left. Also very healthy options. I would recommend this place for casual outing or special celebrations!
Great food - you cook your meats and veg on a hot sizzling grill. The sirloin is a great cut to select, and the cheapest of the alternative cuts.
Tyler was great, and so was the food. Felt like I was in Japan or Korea.
Love this place! My family went out for my birthday and we had a blast. Our server was the best her name was Stephanie and she led us through the menu like an expert and we loved everything she suggested from the sake to the beef tongue (IKR...just try it, sooooo good). We will be back soon
Impeccable service and quality. If you’ve never had Japanese BBQ you need to experience it and this place is phenomenal!!! Don’t be afraid to splurge and treat yourself to their rotating selection of A4 and A5 beef. Ask for Stephanie- she’s the BEST!
