Remix of a classic. Whatever you want to call it, we believe the old world methods of making food - making things by hand, from scratch, cooking meat low and slow, using real foods rather than processed - is the proper way. So we’ve perfected these traditional ideas and applied our unique, young spin into every one of our recipes- focusing on flavor pairings rather than the status quo- to bring you our own, signature experience we call “Nino viejo”.

The menu didn't have many options, i expected more from this restaurant. We ordered an appetizer. However, one of the entrees was served before it even arrived...which was weird. There wasn't much to drink that wasn't alcoholic, which was disappointing. We were seated quickly though, which was nice.
The food was outstanding and our waiter was enthusiastic and helped with choices making this a really enjoyable afternoon lunch
Awesome! Delicious! Great service. Drinks, food and atmosphere!! All great!
Ordered my meal. Only half my meal showed up. Was planning on asking the waitress where the rest of it was when she came back. Never showed up until the end, after I was done with what I had and my wife’s my food was all gone. I asked about the rest of my food and she was apologetic. She offered to put the rest of my food in a container to take it with me. I kindly declined because we were shopping. Got my check and maybe I’m the one who was in the wrong here, but I expected a small percentage off for forgetting literally half my food. The food we did have was great, but it’s hard for me to rate all the food when I didn’t get it.
The food was just ok, but admittedly, we have picky taste, and it came across as a little bland. We ordered the Al Pastor and Birria Tacos. The tacos were basically just tortillas with meat, little or no other ingredients. Don’t get me wrong, the meat and tortillas were made well, and on their own were great ingredients to a street taco dish, but shouldn’t have been the only ingredients. (I’ll note here that the birria tacos came with a few pickled carrots and onions on the side.) The birria tacos were served with a (french dip-like) dipping sauce which would have been much better if they had skimmed the fat off the top first. The sauce was very oily/greasy. Both dishes would have been much better if they had served them with more ingredients — e.g. pico de gallo, red sauce, onions, jalapeños, lime, etc. — as traditional street tacos usually have. Maybe their other dishes are better, but we weren’t very impressed with what we ordered.
I met a friend for lunch. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. The food was fabulous. We both had the carne asada tacos. The chips and salsa were wonderful.
Restaurant is very nice, service was great, the coconut mojito was delish! Unfortunately, the food is just okay.
Food was delicious. The carne asada fries were amazing. We had red snapper tacos and chicken flautas that were great portions and left so full we couldn’t eat it all.
Such amazing food. My third time here and I haven’t had anything I didn’t love. It’s making it harder to choose now because I love everything I’ve had!
I was really disappointed. The service was slow to get to us about 20 minutes before we even got our drink order. The Food was way salty and over cooked and prices too high for that. We won't be back because a miss on the food for that price isn't worth another disappointment.
Staff are extremely kind and service is prompt! Had the Queso Poblano, Asada Tacos, and Churro Donuts. Amazing flavor! Make a reservation because this place fills up quick.
Way over priced. Food mediocre at best. Rice wasn't cooked. Carne asada fries were great though
Absolutely amazing food. I loved every item that was brought to us. It was amazing to me that even the typical no-though sides of refried beans, black beans, and rice were so good that I'd go back just for them, and they were the least of the items we ate. A superlative experience in every way.
This is our favorite date night spot. Our first time here was on New Year’s Eve and we’ve basically been coming every Friday night since. Every time we go I always try a different cocktail and menu item. So far I have enjoyed everything. I personally like the ambience and the music playing in the background. I enjoy seeing some of the families getting into the music with their kids.
Amazing food, quick and professional service. Really good music and vibe overall. Definitely would recommend
OMG beyond amazing and fresh!!
We happily drive from SLC to enjoy this restaurant. The food is outstanding!
Great food, great drinks, ambiance and music.
Fabulous food with fabulous service. We had reservations and got in right away. The ambiance was great for a date night and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Will be back!
Amazing food, amazing vibe - 5 star experience. Utah is lucky to have a restaurant like this. I've eaten there many times now and plan to keep going back.
Fantastic food and service. Will go back.
really well prepared food. For a tapas style menu, the choices are rather limited, but all the proteins we had were really cooked to perfection and had great flavor.
Excellent food and atmosphere. The service was amazing.
Excellent Food and Excellent Service! We will be back very soon
Loved this new restaurant. I've been craving the food and can't wait to go back.
We tried Niño Viejo for a date night, grateful to have a new dining option near our home. Our experience wasn't great, but I'll give them kudos for making an effort to correct all of the many issues. Chalk it up to part new restaurant, part new crew jitters, but we had several mistakes/forgotten items during our meal. Not to judge too harshly but for what they are asking money-wise relative to the quantity of food, experience, and service, there was a serious mismatch. As I mentioned, however, they did work to make it right by offering us comped food, the food we were owed, and their many apologies.
Food-wise, the things we had were all well prepared and yummy, so no complaints there. The Queso Poblano was delicious but so small our party of four could barely get a taste and go back for more. In their defense, it is on the "small plates" menu, but could be made more sharable. The $45 El Plato was yum, presumably made better with all the accompanying side items. Unfortunately, ours didn't arrive until late in our meal.
An issue for any restaurant purveying pricey Mexican fare is that there are at least 3 places within a 15-minute radius that do this food as well — or better than Niño Viejo — for prices that are easier to swallow. It is fine if it's not your intention to compete with these places on price. But if one wishes to demand more money for what is relatively inexpensive food, then it must come down to a great dining experience, and honestly, ours was nada especial.
As I led with, I think this restaurant is young and has room to grow. It has a great location in the heart of Station Park, and perfect for date nights. Also, I couldn't help but notice the patio which will be spectacular in the warm months. We will absolutely give Niño Viejo another try but will give them an opportunity to mature a bit before returning. They were 75% of what a great experience should be when we were there, and we're hopeful for a solid "A" in the not too distant future.
Run by maybe the best chef in Utah and the food and experience are a testament to his expertise and artistry. The options on the menu are both fresh and have deep, amazing flavors. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Went to dinner with another couple and their baby. After we were al situated the Hostess made it point to ask us to let them know we had kids in advance with a rude undertone. Food was good but servings are on the smaller side.
