Original location has history, fresh homemade tortillas, and vintage Mexican dresses. But it is swamped on a Friday night. We waited in the crowded foyer for 15 minutes, despite having made a reservation on Open Table. Our party of 3 was seated at table for 2, crammed up next to a large party. I was literally back-to-back with another diner. Fortunately, she did not need to get up before we were finished. My out-of-town guest enjoyed the authentic margs and queso. I should have stuck with the traditional, dependable dishes. I ordered the fish veracruzano, and it had an unappealing odor. [Not sure if the odor came from the olive topping or the fish, but something was definitely off.] I had the server remove it from the table because it was impossible to eat. I enjoyed my beans and rice, and was full on queso anyway. I love this restaurant but will come at a less crowded time next time and order from the old stand-bys.
Best Mexican food I have ever had and I m old!
Great food, atmosphere, service & price! The Mexican breakfast is delicious as well as the hamburger made from their fajita meat!
Reunion lived in Houston 20 years ago. Always nice to come back to Ninfas. Noticed the chips were changed not as thin as they used to be
Had the best waiter and of course the food was as always - delish!
Wonderfully strong margaritas and perfectly seasoned fajitas!
The bathrooms have an awful smell even before you go in. Service is almost great. Food is awesome, but don’t order the nachos. Friends of ours ordered them and they are pretty bad. We order the combo fajitas (can’t remember the name but they were $55) and got them for a second time because they were so amazing!
The fajitas themselves were good. I had seen this Ninfa's on the Food Network and wanted to try it out when I went to a Houston Astros game because I am a big fajitas fanatic! However, I was a little disappointed with the portioning of the meals. My brother and nephew ordered quesadillas and to be honest, Taco Bell had bigger quesadillas then they were served and the taste wasn't anything extraordinary and it cost them 11 bucks! The fajitas didn't come in sizzling which was very disappointing and to make matters worse, they gave me a small instead of the large I ordered to share with my wife. Overall, I would say that this was a very disappointing trip and will probably not be heading back there again.
It was a gorgeous day outside, so we sat outside - a fair amount of road noise, but the weather made up for that! Food was great as always. My favorite mexican!
Great authentic Mexican food!
We had an afternoon lunch celebrating Easter. It was very nice and relaxing.
Good was excellent as usual. Waiter was new and inexperienced 1st balancing multiple tables needs with his rounds.
A Houston institution still hanging in there with quality food. Mama Ninfa would be proud.
This place is supposed to be a legendary Houston establishment. Service was awful. Food was mediocre at best. Sound level inside was deafening. Ordered an appetizer that was never brought out yet still billed on the check. Server never even introduced himself. Service was slow and inattentive. Corn tortillas were not brought out as ordered and we had to ask 2 more times to get them after the fajitas arrived. Margarita and sangria were below average. On top of everything it is way overpriced too! This place must be a magnet for anti-foodies as I cannot imagine how they pack the place with this terrible restaurant experience. There are infinitely more restaurants in Houston worth your time and money than this place. I will never consider going back here.
Delicious and authentic food, cozy and interesting atmosphere, friendly service. Huge portions. Good prices. Great for quick business lunch, especially if looking for filling meal. Queso is one of the best in town.
We were disappointed to say the least. We have enjoyed the food at other locations. The chips were stale even though it was the place completely full. The salsa are good and the flour tortillas were great, We had the fried seafood appetizer that was good. My wife had the chicken mole enchiladas that were acceptable. I had the jalapeno shrimp and beef fajitas for 28.00. The The 2 shrimp were average. The fajitas were like shoe leather. I would have sent back, but we did not want to have to wait. I feel I could have got a much better meal for the 70.00 we spent elsewhere. I would not recommenced this location.
Ninfa’s is our go to place but our food was very slow getting to the table. We were told that our India’s did not process fast enough in the kitchen. I’m quite sure it was an oversight. Both orders were comp’d so management corrected the problem. We will be back, Ninfa’s knows how to run a great place.
Great food and atmosphere. Wait not to long. Great margaritas.
Tamales were mushy and not good at all. Fajitas so so...not like the original Ninfas.
Excellent service from our waitress Ashlee.
Such a great experience ..... great food, great fun, great prices
Excellent guacamole and sangria - big sharable portions - chips and salsa were so delish! Highly recommended!
Good food! Good service!!
Fajitas are best in town. Beef or Chicken. I usually get the Large combo beef and chicken. Great portion for a split with my Girlfriend. Chili con queso is delicious.
Friend get together to celebrate a birthday. Good service and food .
killer experience for all!
consistently great food and drink
Fantastic Valentines dinner with my wife
Really good service with even better food, order the pibil.
Brought great friends from out of town and it was fantastic as always.
Wonderful experience..reservation was read..wait staff was perfect. Food was outstanding
Took a very long time to get water and then a long time each time to get that water glass filled back up
Ernesto was fantastic !
Best steak fajitas !!! EVER! Awesome waiter, Michael! Great queso flameado!! ! Just best Mexican food ,I have ever eaten! The homemade tortillas and margaritas are incredible too!!
Three of us had an early dinner before the Opera. Seating was easy, we had a reservation at 5pm but the greeter still messed us up by telling us about the third person "he is already seated." It wasn't a he and she hadn't yet arrived. We were sent wandering around the large restaurant looking, all to no avail. (Along our journey we were subjected to sour plumbing smells in the dining room!) When we reported back to the reservation desk we are placed at a table in an almost empty back room, which was drafty on the rainy, chilly afternoon. My plate, Chiles Rellenos was not very hot, despite the servers warning about the hot plate (he was serving in bare hands anyway.) Similarly, my wife's tacos. Our third had a bowl of soup and that was probably the only hot food on the table. She reported it was excellent. My Chiles Rellenos looked old, reheated, tired, wrinkly, and, as I said, was not hot. Cheese was quite congealed. Service was attentive and water refilled but overall, the dinner was a disappointment. I've had good meals at Ninfa's previously, but this past Saturday night was a dud.
Food was unmemorable and nothing special. Server made us feel like her goal was to get us out as fast as possible
Food was delicious as always. It was very crowded for a Saturday late afternoon but once again , we very much enjoyed our experience.
The fajitas were great (as always!) but maybe that's the margarita talking? Nope - although the margarita was great, also. I've never had a bad meal here - and the service is always just right! Thanks, Ernesto!
Everything is amazing
I generally have a good experience every time I visit this location, but the cortado I was served today was perfect!
