Under New Management! Chef Matt Beevers is bringing his culinary flair and passion for fine food to the centre of York. Overlooking the city’s stunning medieval quarter, Nineteen Restaurant is housed in one of York's oldest buildings on Grape Lane, just a couple of minutes walk away from the city's famous Minster. It dates back to the fifteenth century and the restaurant combines old world charm with modern furnishings to create one of the city's most atmospheric dining experiences.
This unique restaurant boasts a combination of the finest locally sourced ingredients, treated with respect and served in a relaxed friendly environment with menus to suit all tastes and budgets.

Unfortunately there is no parking at the restaurant, when the building was built parking for cars was not really taken into consideration. However there is parking available throughout the city center.
Public transit
Buses stop at the bottom of the Shambles a 2 minute walk from us. Taxis have access to Grape Lane in the evening but not at Lunch time, except for people with disabled badges. For any further help getting to us please just ring.
Entertainment
We do not have live entertainment but Rob's fabulous play lists seem to keep the dinners happy.

A lovely cosy little restaurant which serves delicious food. It was lovely to sit at the table next to the window looking out onto a freezing cold winters night down the cobbled street. A nice atmosphere with friendly staff. Will definitely be back in the future.

We came here on December 30 - it was a very quiet night, with only three tables in use (possibly because of the floods in York?) but it was still a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious, although it could be considered expensive. In fact, the only thing that would have made this experience better was if there had been more food on the plates, but I understand that this kind of restaurant is more about quality than quantity. Our waitress was great - unfortunately I have forgotten her name, but she was attentive and friendly and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Overall, very good.

The restaurant is located at the bottom of a small street thru a low passage which made it difficult to find BUT once we were in we were greeted with a smile! We ate upstairs which was busy but not too busy. I apologise for breaking a glass but like most of York the floors are not horizontal and it fell off! The lunch menu surprised me because I had looked on their website and thought the food was more 'foodie' but this is probably the evening menu. They didn't do starters but rustled something up for us to nibble on. I had the fish n chips which was jenga chips and fish bites with homemade tartare sauce. Hubby had the risotto of the day, wild mushroom. Wine list was extensive and good to see that even the 'good' wines were available by the glass. Pudding was treacle tart with lemon posset while he had the cheeseboard. Good to see that we could select the cheeses. Service was carried out by the single waitress who was unflustered and capable of managing all the tables. The overall cost was very reasonable, and the generous 2nd helping of the malbec was greatly appreciated by hubby. We would go back again and have recommended it to our friends.

This restaurant was a great find. Lovely atmosphere, quite quirky in fact. The food was wonderful. We had the Sunday Supper special offer which was 2 main courses and bottle of house wine for £40 and was worth every penny. We were waited on by a lovely guy called Brad so he deserves a special mention too.

We came back here, on our annual visit to York. As ever the restaurant is pleasantly cosy, being in historic beamed surroundings. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delightful, interesting combinations of flavours and beautifully presented. The creme brulee...well I thought I had tried so many variations that I couldn't be impressed....exceptional!

Very friendly establishment with good links to the Wine Bar next door - which came in very handy as we were early for our table. Food excellent and staff very friendly. ~Would definitely go there again.

We found nineteen by chance on our anniversary weekend and were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food, the relaxed atmosphere and great service. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant
