Chefs “Mercy Menu”, was amazing. A little taste of everything. Staff was knowledgeable and not obtrusive. The Server Mark, did an amazing job. Thanks
The best dinner experience we’ve ever had. Had the mercy of the chef experience and were more than impressed. Mark, our server, paired our dinner and wines spectacularly. Honestly couldn’t have asked for better. Mark and the entire team were extremely attentive and made our experience fantastic. Would recommend to anyone. The food was the best we have ever had, and the staff were fabulous. If at all possible I would recommend sitting in mark’s section and trying to mercy of the chef. It was incredible to see what the chef created and we both got different meals. The plates were actually larger than what I expected given a 6 course meal, and the wine pairing as stated above were absolutely fantastc.
The staff at Nine-Ten was fantastic! We visited to celebrate our anniversary and we were treated very, very well. I was impressed.
Exceptional food, service, and all around experience for lunch with family visiting from out of town. The out of towners were impressed, needless to say, and are ready to return next trip to try Mercy of the Chef! Thank for for a fabulous meal, per Nine-Ten usual!!
Menu stale. Little change in years. Not very imaginative. Preparation just satisfactory. One expects better for the price and venue.
We had dinner with my family on Monday at the restaurant, and there were quite a few guests around 8 PM. The welcome and comfortable atmosphere immediately provided us with a feeling of the special place. The entire meal--appetizers, main course, desserts, cocktails, and coffee--was delicious and amazingly presented. We definitely will suggest this restaurant to our friends and come back for another dinner or lunch.
Wished the bartender would have asked me if I was ready to close out the bill, and did not fill out the survey himself.
The drinks were good, the food was excellent. The wait staff were very courteous and made the night a special occasion.
Quiet night. Great food. Clear, clean flavors which were unusual but worked exceptionally well together. Even though it was basically empty, the food service was rushed. The only fault I would give this fantastic but pricey restaurant
The food was pretty good overall. Only downfall is my steak was a very charred. For $98 a plate, I was a bit disapointed. But I didn’t want to complain because we where in a hurry and I didn’t want to kill our tables vibe. My friends enjoyed their food.
The desert however despite my entree was absolutely wonderful! The service was incredible. From the hostesses to our awesome awesome waiter. I may give this place another try soon.
Outstanding --the best in San Diego for creative use of food and presentation. Consistently superb
It never disappoints. My favourite restaurant in La Jolla! The New Year’s Eve menu was great. Loved the wine pairing option. This a great restaurant for every meal, not just special events.
It is a pleasurable experience. The Chief applies is magic to mix the ingredients and combine them together.
Outstanding food meticulously preared! I ordered the beef short ribs and the meat was extremely tender. The potaoes and veggies were flavorful and perfectly cooked. There was a balsamic sauce that tied the components together, resulting in flavor layers with every bite. My husband had the steak and he likes it on the well done side. That's always difficult to achieve without dryness, but this one was moist and delicious with a tiny bit of pink, just the way he likes it. We shared the S'mores dessert and loved the more sophisticated version with a small scoop of peanut butter ice cream, homemade graham cracker and a baked marshmallow drizzled with chocolate. Amazing! Thanks to all for an exceptional dining experience. We will be back!
Very tasty and creative menu. Wonderful desserts were the high point along with the Barrata Apetizer. Service was slow and slightly inattentive. Great atmosphere.
Went with a group of 4. Got at the restaurant at 6pm and sat on our table. Ordered apps and main courses by 6:15 but didn’t get our food till 7:50pm. The waiter didn’t care to change our napkins after our meal (before desert), didn’t care to refill our waters, worked with a non existent sense of urgency. Waaay overpriced for what they have to offer.
Very poor ambiance and the food did not have any flavor.
The food we actually ate was terrific (short ribs, pear salad, cacio e pepe). But at 7:30 on a Saturday night (not particularly late), they were already out of the cod and the daily special. Very disappointing. Also, one of our party ordered a drink that was totally watered down. The server graciously replaced it but that was also surprising. We arrived early for our reservation and were happy to wait in the adjacent hotel lobby as requested (not the bar). But no one ever came to see if we wanted to order a drink while we waited. Again, not very gracious and very surprising.
Delicious food as usual, and service as well: you perfectly accommodated my guest’s request re changing the soup.
From the Fois gras appetizer to the sea bass and the wonderful dessert everything was sensational. Great service. Beautiful environment. Excellent wines.
Fine dining with exceptional service plus a Wine Wednesday Special in La Jolla. Personalized service that makes you want to come back again and again. Our birthday celebration was so special!
Went for a birthday dinner. As usual an excellent meal with outstanding unobtrusive service. Strong good drinks, starters of pear salad and a combined steak tartar with crab salad were excellent. Mains of sea bass and of lamb loin were also perfectly prepared and delicious. Desserts of sorbet with strawberries and one a complex dish of pistachio cream, ice cream and cookies were great. Always the place for a special occasion in La Jolla.
more average food in an average setting...La Jolla continues to struggle
Went for a special, end of year date night with my wife. Dinner was spectacular. Best food I've had in SD in months. Our server was a som and rec'd a bottle of wine that was a bit outside of our comfort zone that was fantastic.
This restaurant is one of La Jolla's finest. Great all the way around. I highly recommend this to everyone!
Just had an exceptional dining experience, thankfully per usual at Nine-Ten Restaurant! I highly recommend Nine-Ten for brunch, lunch, cocktails/happy hour, and special occasion dinners. So actually, that means anytime is a good time! I applaud their excellent food, cocktails and wine, service and ambiance. Small recommendation: adding some microbrewery beer on tap would be amazing, particularly to compliment your exceptional burger. Go to Nine-Ten Restaurant for a top dining experience in San Diego, I promise.
We had a delicious lunch of lobster rolls and truffle fries. The half baked chocolate cake
was fabulous. Service was attentive and friendly.
Birthday celebration. Server was great. Allowed us to linger over champagne. Food was outstanding. Will definitely come back.
The lobster salad and summer squash medley were outstanding as was the grilled octopus. 910 was at top form this Saturday night.
It was a great experience all around! Service was great and our food and drinks were amazing! We will definitely be coming here again!
Nine Ten has been a stand out in the crowded restaurant scene. Although the food quality is still quite good. I think the menu is beginning to be dated. Furthermore, one of their best dishes is the stone crab spaghettini. That alone is worth going there. However, I was told that they are discontinuing that dish. Now it only leaves the pork belly to be worth ordering as the grilled octopus is over played and pretty much every decent restaurant has that and its nothing special. Furthermore, their Cod dish feels light for an entree at $36. Not much is there other than a small portion of the Cod. Overall, the food is good but the menu is getting less and less interesting.
I took a friend to lunch at Nine-Ten to celebrate a birthday. While they did not do anything special to commemorate the birthday, we both had a Cobb Salad, the service was excellent, and we agreed it was the best Cobb salad either of us have ever had!
One of the best meals I have ever had. Great ambience and excellent service.
This is one of the best dining experiences in Southern California. The ambiance, meal, menu selections and especially the wait staff are each and all excellent. Nine-Ten is a great value in every aspect. Even the valet parking service is memorable.
Amazing food! Best grilled octopus.
Booked a table for a Thanksgiving. The first disappointment- had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Any excuses, just “be waiting”. Second disappointment - I checked their special menu in advance and decided what we will order. What a surprise - some positions were absent (as an example, we would like to get a lobster salad - were told they have not got it despite it is in the special menu). Overall, the food is very tasty, got a pumpkin soup and a fish. Cheesecake is strange - and the the waiter has to tell that it is a different recipe - not like all the Cheesecakes. As a result - mixed impressions. From the one hand - food is tasty, from another - late seating, absent dishes in a menu... For this price (we paid 75$ each for the dinner) the service should be better.
Thanksgiving is probably not the time to try a high end La Jolla restaurant but there were still some great tastes. My turkey dinner was well done but with average tastes, and huge chunks of bland sausage in the stuffing. There was certainly a hefty portion so we did have leftovers. The same went for my spouse's steak (turkey doesn't like him). The highlights were the appetizers. They offered a house made pasta with lots of truffle shavings for an added cost over the prix fixe menu. It was delicious. The other was a lobster and mango salad with just enough spice from the chiles to make it interesting. Our desserts were artfully plated and also good. We tried a bourbon cocktail with pumpkin and cointreau in it which was very tasty and not too sweet.
They were doing a huge business, which I was glad to see, both in the dining room, outdoors and at the bar. It's a great spot right in the middle of La Jolla's main drag. Location, location, location.
Food was delicious and service very good. The table we sat at was in the middle of the hall and somewhat noisy and busy.
Overall, a good night
Nestled inside an elegant hotel, opt to dine outside.
Great for large group or intimate (total contrast but works for both!)
Mussels were INSANE, tuna crudo special hit every note, octopus was delightful and perfectly cooked.
Braised short rib fell off the bone, however the sauce was a bit overpowering.
Would come again and try their craft cocktails and their pasta dishes
Good. Portions small
Had to flag down waiter multiple times
As a middle aged woman with her mother did not appreciate being called ‘Girls’ x 2 by waiter. Not cool. Food expensive for the quality.
Delicious, including the NY strip.
